2004 CHRYSLER CONCORDE User Comment / Complaint

The camshaft position sensor checks itself off the crank position sensor, both have to agree. Either could be bad and cause the same problem, my experience is - the OBDII codes always say it's the cam sensor. Another problem that can cause this is the cam chain tensioner not working correctly.... or the cam chain being no longer serviceable (stretched) causing the cam sensor to show a failure mode, when it is not. I've fought the same problem, also discovered the cam sensor connector or crank sensor connect may not be seated correctly and when the engine heats up - causes a problem.

Car will stall while driving at various speeds and lose power. thankfully i have been able to steer off of the road each time. each time this has happened, the dealerships have replaced the camshaft positioning sensor at a cost of $250 each. i am on the third one. they seem to last about 10 months and then are gone again.  view
