The same thing just happen to me, fortunately, my 2004 Santa Fe with 23K miles was parked in my garage at the time. Attempted to take my son to school but vehicle would not move. Upon inspection, I saw that the spring on top of the left front strut assembly snapped in two and had pierced and flattened the tire. Called Hyundai Roadside Assistance and had it towed to Northtown Hyundai in Amherst. Was expecting a problem since Santa Fe was one week away from being out of 5 year bumper-to bumper warranty. Turned out to be no problem whatsoever. Northtown replaced the spring and installed a new tire at no charge. Even the tow was covered under warranty. I'm not related to anybody at Northtown, furthermore, I've read lots of horror stories about dealers. But I have to say Northtown stepped up to the plate. They fixed my Santa Fe under warranty and returned it in two days. Regardless, I will do further research on wheel, spring and other suspension part failures as noted by others.

No prior warnings or conditions existed prior to failure. the vehicle would not start and it was diagnosed by a fellow coworker to be the fuel pump. aaa was called to tow the vehicle , and upon arrival, put car in neutral to back it up in order to tow. immediately, the front driver tire when flat, and it was a result of the front strut assembly breaking and causing the coil spring to snap and pierce the front tire. it has been 6 days , and i was still without the vehicle which was only 3 1/2 years old with 65,000 miles. i was told that nothing was covered by warranty and replacement parts were not available. in order to get the vehicle fixed quickly i had to accept parts from a 2006 vehicle.  view
