Tl contact owns a 2004 acura tl 3.2. he stated that while idled, he smelled smoke but did not realize it was coming from his vehicle. he noticed flames coming from the engine when he opened the hood. the flames ceased when he turned off the vehicle. the vehicle was towed to the dealer and they stated that the failure was with the power steering wheel. the failure and current mileages were 54,000.

I own an Acura TL year 2004. Today my car was victim of a fire caused by the power steering fluid coming from the faulty hose mentioned in the recall. The funny thing is that the incident happened five minutes after arriving to the Acura Service Center to get that hose fixed (I live in Puerto Rico). Initial estimated costs are around $11,000.00 in parts only, no labor included. What is not funny is that since I bought this car last year, I'm still paying the automobile loan I got. I wonder how Acura will fix this situation, I think my car will be declared a total loss.
