2001 GMC SIERRA 2500 HD User Comment / Complaint

Dt*: the contact stated the anti lock brakes failed to function properly. the abs system would engage while traveling 4 mph, causing a loss of brakes for a few seconds before returning to normal. the service dealer and manufacturer were notified and both informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa recall #05v379000 for the service brakes, hydraulic: antilock due to the vin.

I have the same truck, only extremely low miles,, at 6 K miles had all 4 rotors and calipers FAIL, (under warranty, dealer replaced all 4 (with a lot of grief) and at 12k miles the antilock started acting up, little by little,when you slow down down to 4 mph they would buzz and sometimes usually down hill on a dry road the brakes would go to the floor, dealer could not find problem.. HA! nearly had an accident many times before the brakes finally gave away. nothing,, brake lite did not come on!!! now no brakes and the truck has 20K miles,, NICE JOB GMC!! paid over$40K for a truck that wont stop. my boss (a professional mechanic) has the same truck and found his inside wheel bearings DRY (no grease) and his truck is an 03 2500HD mine an 01 HD with duramax. my front wheel bearings inside are both SHOT TO HELL .. the truck has 20k miles never been abused, never in water and rarely even hauled anything. it looks like NEW inside andout. just driven 25 miles to and from work occasionally..
