Currently own a 1998 isuzu trooper. was purchased used from the dealer at 82,000 miles. currently has 120,000 miles on the car. since purchase vehicle has not held its complete capacity of oil between oil changes. there are no leaks and oil is changed regularly with a full capacity. investigation by me and others has shown that the engine was built with insufficient oil rings which lead to high oil consumption and has led to seized motors due to a lack of warning. isuzu is aware of this (mechanic told me) and was not fixed until the 2000 model year. (problem on 98 and 99 models. don't mind adding oil every once in a while but would hate to loose the engine because the oil system does not work properly in it's design.

i can relate to the same issue. it has been a mystery. i change my oil so regularly, i constantly have to add oil to the vehicle. i check the oil now everyday becasue of this problem, just about every 2weeks i ahve to add a gallon of oil. i thought it was leaking it on the ground. i check the ground evertime, and it's always dry. i'm like where is all that oil going. this sucks
