2007 HONDA CIVIC User Comment / Complaint

I am the only owner of my 2005 honda civic lx. at 62,000 the air bag light came on and wouldn't turn off. took it to the honda dealership in battle creek, michigan. they determined it was the srs control unit that controls the air bags. i asked if it was covered under warranty and they said no. i said the safety features of this vehicle have a lifetime warranty. they told me it only covered the seatbelt buckles. i told them i thought this was a safety issue. they said no, and it would be $800 for the part alone, no labor, payable up front. i took it to my mechanic, who sent it in to be rebuilt. the unit was so far gone, that it couldn't even be rebuilt. i was without my airbags for approximately 3 months while all of this was going on. the place of business that rebuilt the control unit stated they have had many honda civic srs control units sent in. i think this a huge safety issue, and a recall should be done.
