2000 FORD EXPEDITION User Comment / Complaint

While traveling south on i-95 at approx 65 mph, the passenger right rear tire failed. it appears that the failure mode was tread separation/detachment. the tread ended up wrapped around the rear axle. at the moment of the failure the 2000 ford expedition torqued hard to the right, but control was maintained. further information on this incident is that the failed tire was a replacement for a recall (nhtsa campaign id number: 02t012000) by continental tire co. and replaced by a ford dealership. the failure of the repalcement tire fits the exact description as stated in the nhtsa investigation report.
