2001 JAGUAR S-TYPE User Comment / Complaint

Tl contact owns a 2001 jaguar s-type. the contact stated that the vehicle will not start and is difficult to shift out of gear. the failure was reported to the dealer before the warranty expired and the shift cable was replaced. the vehicle shut down again without warning while crossing a rail road track. he was driving 35 mph at the time of failure. he had to push the vehicle off the tracks. the second failure occurred while driving 60 mph. the vehicle was towed to the dealer and they diagnosed the cause of failure as the transmission. the replacement will cost $5,000. the powertrain was unknown. the current mileage was 56,627 and failure mileage was 56,400.
