Tl contact owns a 2006 dutchmen t@b. the contact stated that the axles underneath the trailer caused the spring hangers to separate. all four spring hangers have failed. the axles began to ride on the tire, causing the tire to smoke. the axle was lifted to the underbelly of the trailer. the manufacturer stated that this was not their problem, but was lippmann industries' problem instead. the manufacturer sent someone to repair the cross members, but they stated that the cross members had to be replaced and that the trailer was not safe to drive. they referred her to another manufacturer (moore ride) who stated that the cross members were not the cause of failure. both manufacturers stated that if the failure were to recur, neither of them would be able to repair the defect again. the current and failure mileages were 2,500. no other vehicle information was available.  view

Tl contact owns a 2006 infiniti g35 sedan. the contact heard a ticking sound while accelerating. the dealer was unable to diagnose the cause of failure. the check engine light illuminated at 3,300 miles. the dealer replaced the cam shaft sensor. at 6,400 miles, the ticking noise returned and the check engine and oil lights illuminated. the dealer diagnosed the vehicle as consuming a large amount of oil. the vehicle was put through an oil consumption test and failed twice. at 7,500 miles, the vehicle stalled while turning and the check engine light illuminated once more. the dealer has diagnosed the vehicle as needing a new engine and would like to install a test engine designed for this type of failure. the engine size was unknown. the current mileage is 8,600 and failure mileage was 1,800. the consumer stated the vehicle shifts very rough. updated 07/06/07.  view

Tl contact owns a 2007 bmw r1200 s. the contact stated that the horn is inadequate. he has notified the dealer and the manufacturer, but they are not taking any action. the horn alert is weak and barely audible, which can be very hazardous. he stated that the electrical system has been redesigned, therefore the vehicle is only equipped for this particular horn. the powertrain was unknown. the current and failure mileages were 800.  view

I have a 2003 ford explorer that cuts off after take off, but while yielding to oncoming traffic or braking to make a turn. the steering column locks and the car must be brought to a full stop to place in park and restart. this is extremely dangerous. we have complained to our local dealer, dick masheter, who has been unable to duplicate. this problem has been happening since the vehicle was new, but happened twice yesterday.  view

I own two britax marathon car seats. my almost three year old child (while tightly strapped into his car seat) can reach forward and activate the shoulder release lever, lean forward and loosen his car seat straps on his own. while i am driving! i called britax and with in the next two weeks, they are sending me two "plastic trainers" which according to them, should make this lever inaccessible to my child. in the meantime i have no truly safe car seat for my child. i asked them why they use this lever and not the button like they use on the roundabout car seat and was told that parents with less hand dexterity were having problems with the button. but, apparently it was totally okay to let our small children be able to loosen their own safety restraints. i just purchased the second seat and it did not come with the trainer. britax knows this is a problem and there is currently no mention of this corrective piece on their web site. this is a very dangerous problem, and needs to be corrected.  view

Car started making noises when brakes were applied; promptly took car to mechanic ,who determine d both rear coil springs broke. one front coil spring previously broke, puncturing tire, and both front replaced 2003.  view

I have a 2000 olds intrigue that my mother left to me when she passed away in 2002. i also just purchased a used 2001 pontiac grand am for my teenaged son. both of these vehicles have the turn signal/multi-function switch malfunction. i called the 1800 numbers associated with the recall (on this site) and was told that since it was not a current recall, i could not have the switches repaired as part of the recall. do i have any recourse regarding the recall? i was not notified of either vehicle in regards to the recall since i wasn't the owner at the time. please advise. thanks!  view

Continued problems with me 2003 honda civic hybrid and the constant velocity transmission. slipping or surging when accelerating and bucking or shimmy when decelerating. honda has only flushed the transmission fluid. it does improve the situation, only to return within a few thousand miles. this will only push my vehicle to the end of it's warranty period with no annotated issues in my vehicles records. honda needs to fix this ongoing issue as it pertains to hundreds, perhaps thousands of owners.  view

I took the 2002 toyota sequoia in for a routine maintenance to the dealer, performance toyota in la vista, ne and was told that the joints were recalled. the vehicle was performing well up to that time. after the service, two days later the skid light and the vsc (variable skid control) lights came on and after restarting the suv, went off. now the brake system is malfunctioning and the vsc is disabled. a week prior to the service the system worked just fine on the same route that i take to pick up my son while it was raining. there is a significant reduction in the vehicle control. what makes this problem even worse is that there is no indication of a system failure after the initial indicators have reset. (i.e. the lights came on and went off permanently) it was a fortnight later in the rain that the vehicle spun out of control and we realized that the vsc system was malfunctioning. researching the problem, i find that there are many other owners experiencing the same thing. the dealer says that the responsibility to fix the problem is that of the owners. there is a need for this to be taken care of by toyota corporation in the form of a recall as the main braking system is affected on so many vehicles.  view

While driving my dodge intrepid, the engine failed and seized on me. the last regular oil change i did, i happened to notice that the oil was a little chunky. after that oil change, the oil light started to flicker while car was in idol. asked mechanic friend to come look at my car, and said that there was nothing wrong. later that week my car started to knock very loudly. fear of a breakdown, i parked my intrepid and attempted to fix. when i took the valve cover off there was a thick coating of sludge on everything. i replaced a bearing on the crank for the #1 piston rod. when i started the car, it ran fine. i drove it for approximately 20 miles and the engine seized while i was on a busy 2 lane highway. now i need an engine replacement. when a called a shop and described the situation, he told me that this was a problem for a lot of people and that he did not have the time to fix my car that will just breakdown over and over. plus, i have problems with the window switches, and a/c controls. both problems i tried to have a dealership fix and they wouldn't cover it with my warranty!  view

First ,heard noise coming form engine(rattling noise). took to dealer to have them look at it. was told by mechanic, that the engine would probably be gone in six months. that's all i was told. no reasons why. if the problem was fixable or anything. a week later the car cut-off on me right after i had exited the highway. if i would've still been on the highway, it would've definitely caused a terrible accident. took car to my mechanic. he had to take the engine completely apart to find out what the problem was. come to find out , it was the water pump that caused the timing chain to break in two places, causing the whole engine to lock-up! so i paid my mechanic $1,615.20 to replace timing chain, gaskets,and numerous other things to try to get the car started just to see if the engine was gone. guess what i found out? it was gone -dead).now i'm stuck with a beautiful car , that's no good to me. and i'm still paying on it! this stinks.  view

Issue involve 1999 lexus es300 chrome wheels (rims). failures to maintain air pressure. numerous owners are experiencing this lexus known problem, but vehicle manufacture unwilling to fix this failure, which result in owners purchasing new chrome wheels at $500 each.  view

At 24,000 miles the rear differential had to be replaced, it took over 6 weeks to get the part (it was replaced at 28,000 miles). again at 42,000 it needs to be replaced same problem i was told 5 days to get the part it is going on 3 weeks and i was told just told it would be in by 7/9 i don't believe it. attempted e-mails to nissian have never been answered. the car has never even been off the road. all highway miles! nissan has a problem with the rear differential for sure and don't seem intrested in helping the consumer. this will be the last nissian i own. very poor customer service.  view

Problems with accelerated tire wear on a 5th wheel travel trailer. i have a cedar creek 5th wheel model year 2003, manufactured 11.02, model # 30rlbs. the trailer has 5200# axles manufactured by al-kober and they are causing extreme tire wear on the inside edges of the tires. have spoken to al-ko and they deny any problems but it has been detailed on quite a few web sites that they had a manufacturing problem for a period of time and that the visual aspect of the problem is rapid wear on the inside edges of tires causing blow outs and damage and safety issues due to these defects. i have spoken to cedar creek, steve hicks, and he agrees that there is a problem and has sent me replacement axles no charge but i think that al-kober should be investigated and forced to replace the damaged components and replace the tired damaged by this defect and possibly causing major safety issues. i still have the old axles and the tires are still on the trailer as i only make 1 major trip each year, putting less than 3,000 miles each year on unit.  view

While traveling, mainly at highway speeds, in my 2007 f-250 4x4 (gas), any imperfections in the roadway surface (potholes, bridge approaches, ripples) send the front end of the truck into violent shakes, causing temporary loss of control of the vehicle, until it is slowed much below the posted speed limit. such a loss of control is an imminent hazard not only to myself and passengers, but also to the traveling public in the vicinity. i have taken the vehicle to the ford dealership, and they have never heard of such an issue and suggested an alignment.  view

Windshield wipers will come on by themselves while the switch is off, it will also turn off while in the middle of driving and stop in the middle of the windshield becoming in-operable & no visibility! i was driving on the freeway at 65 mph during rush hour, in the pouring rain when they stopped on me! air conditioner) whenever we start up the car, a mildew smell comes out of the vents. this could be a health hazzard for people with lung problems. (fuel) while the car is parked in our garage we smell fuel & the smell of fuel in the car sometimes while driving. the fuel gauge seems to be defective, one moment it registers it has a 1/3 tank, next moment it says you only have a 1/16 of a tank! this car is cursed and is just an accident waiting to happen!  view

Ball joints for the 1998-2004 dodge trucks were faulty, i could not believe after all the complaints received that nothing has ever been done about this faulty parts that could lead to serious injury or death. you could do a search for faulty ball joints on the web and there are thousands of complaints about these ball joints wearing out after sometimes 20,000 miles this is ridiculous and dangerous you guys should be ashamed for not holding dodge responsible for fixing these especially when there was a recall for the 2000 model year. yet no other years yet i am sure that they used that same ball joint for all of those model years.  view

While driving on interstate 40 at 80 mph my car began shaking violently and shut off. it was trailored to the nearest volvo dealership where it took 3 weeks to repair , 1 week to identify the problem). they found that the valve spring" on the 2007 volvo xc90's engine had broken, causing the car to operate on only 4 of its 6 cylinders. this car barely had 2500 miles on it at the time of the failure. the cylinder head of my brand new engine had to be replaced, certainly compromising the resale value of my car, and after 3 weeks in the shop,and $6000 worth of repairs including a rebuilt engine, volvo will not recompensate me (replacement engine, extended warranty, etc.). i am extremely upset about this. i purchased a volvo because it is supposed to be the most dependable and safe car on the road. instead i have been badly mistaken.  view

At 42,000 miles, i started to experience incredible vibrations when applying the brakes. according to the repair shop, the rotors were warped to the point that they had to be replaced, they couldn't be resurfaced or evened up-something like that. .  view

2004 nissan altima 2.5 had severe missing issue and dealer advised that it was an issue with the screws of the power ring on the intake manifold. the screw had came loose and damaged the intake manifold. nissan has voluntary service campaign qr25de power valve ( p5202) for this issue. my car has the exact issue and the year and engine size is the same. the vin number of my car is within the posted vin's of this campaign - however they now say the "campaign" is vin specific, and you guessed it - my vin isn't on their list. $700.00 later the dealer won't pay, nissan america refuses to honor the fix listed in their own campaign this is a known design flaw issue, same car, same engine size, within the vin numbers listed. no relief. they also replaced all the screws with "upgraded screws" and lock each screw. the internet is filled with this issue and others with no assistance. please make this a recall !  view

I have a 2003 subaru legacy sedan; and while traveling on roads with speed limits of 45 mph or more, i hear swishes from the 2 front windows. they sound as if i have them rolled down just slightly enough to where this constant, and very annoying, whooshing is heard. i travel on the highway everywhere i go, and this sound increases as velocity is increased. it's so i'm constantly checking the power buttons to my windows to see if i have them rolled up all the way. one day me and 3 other family members; rode in my car to spend the afternoon together and once we hit the highway, they all commented on the annoying noise. they even asked if my windows were rolled up tightly. most of the time, it's superlative to the music coming from my radio. *  view

1998 honda accord ex 4-door: horn functions intermittently. while driving straight ahead (normal highway driving), horn usually does not work. isolated the malfunction and found that the steering shaft is only intermittently grounded, and the horn requires that ground in order to function. the horn (and the steering shaft ground) operates perfectly when the key is removed from the ignition switch. it appears that something in the ignition switch is causing the loss of ground. this year and model vehicle has already had two different recalls for different problems with the ignition switch. i know of at least 2 other people with identical symptoms, and one of them has already had an accident that would have been avoided with a working horn. as far as i know, this vehicle has never been in an accident. the failure has not been repaired as of yet.  view

For the past two years our car has had a very pungent fowl smelling odor when the air conditioner or heater is engaged that has gotten progressively worse. i took the car for repairs prior to the termination of the warranty and was told (by the dealership) that they did not notice a smell, and there was no problem. six moths ago the car began to run hot and i took the car to our neighborhood mechanic. under pressure he noticed a small leak in the coolant piping and replaced a section of pipe ($150.00). i asked if this could be causing the odor (as mentioned earlier and he stated maybe, or it could be the heater core).within the past two weeks the 'check engine soon' light has come on and upon checking the message and inspection of my car i've been told the heater core needs to be replaced. my neighborhood mechanic was at a loss because told me it was very odd for the heater core to fail so early in a car. i've checked the internet and have come across hundreds of people in the same situation (with mitsubishi's). i am very upset with the fact that the mitsubishi dealer may have lied to me (when the car was under warranty). i asked for multiple items to be fixed (under warranty) and they refuted every request. the heater core will be replaced within two weeks.  view

Complete failure of right rear hatch shock. the shock completely and suddenly lost all pressure causing the rear hatch to fall. defective part was replaced. toyota covered only half of the cost. part was left at toyota of greenville.  view

Hit a curb going 20-30 mph (not full-on, though). blew tire and cause slight alignment issue, as expected. however, next day noticed three large dents next to my sunroof. took it to dealer and discovered the roof flexed when i hit the curb and the entire roof panel has to be replaced. for hitting a curb? what would have happened to me if i had actually hit something more substantial? no way should a consumer incur a $5000+ repair bill for clipping a curb or hitting a pothole. found other acura owners complaining on blogs about the same thing. costly for a minor accident.  view

At 68,994 miles my truck lost 2nd gear, drive, overdrive and reverse. a new reaction shell was installed. at 90,027 miles and 360 days later the same problem occurred and a beast heavy duty reaction shell was available and installed.  view

Tl contact owns a 2000 chevrolet silverado. the contact applied the brakes while driving 5 mph, but the vehicle failed to stop. she was forced to apply the emergency brake to stop the vehicle. the vehicle was towed to the dealer and they stated that the brake line was corroded and needed to be replaced. parts of the brake line have previously been replaced at 54,000 and 55,000 miles. at 55,000 miles, the vehicle crashed into the garage due to brake failure while driving 5 mph. the manufacturer stated that the vin was included in nhtsa recall numbers 00v055000 and 05v379000 (service brakes, hydraulic:antilock), however, the failure was not related and the recalls were closed. the current mileage is 58,000 and failure mileage was 54,000.  view

See nhtsa item# 623034. security lamp illuminates while driving and then the associated "passlock" security system either stalls out my engine while driving or causes a shut-down of my vehicle whereby the engine will not start for at least 10 minutes. this has happened late at night, at intersections, gas stations, etc. the amount of times i have had to wait for this security system to "reset" has become frustrating. i have done extensive research on this via respectable online forums, and there are many owners not just of the 2000 chevrolet blazer but of a number of vehicles in the entire gm family who have this same problem. we are all crying out for a recognition of this being a safety issue, not just an issue of inconvenience. failure to start and stalling are symptoms that are only going to lead in one direction. there are literally hundreds of posts on this issue if one goes to an online forum and searches under the terms "security light" or "passlock" within the gm context. i have been to my dealer numerous times, have attempted to work with chevrolet, and nothing seems to be getting resolved. i am under the impression that a mechanical solution to this problem does not exist, short of disabling the system altogether (which dealers are not allowed to do). i would welcome any further contact from nhtsa regarding this matter and would gladly go to the expense of photocopying and sending the binder of materials i have collected on this subject. if it will make a difference in preventing a future injury or death (if any have not already occurred), i am all for it. thank you for your time and efforts on behalf of auto safety.  view

Poor design of the front bumper. the hole on the bottom was too big, allowing debris to hit the air conditioner (a/c) condenser and radiator. this was what happened to me but the funny thing wa s that i wasn't even driving the car. i turned it on and got the air conditioner going, which was cold at first. the car sat for a week while i was on vacation, so i found it hard to believe they won't cover it as a equipment failure. instead they claimed something flew through it. chevrolet didn't put a grill in it from the factory, which would have solved the problem. warranty won't cover it because it was considered a road hazard, and wanted me to claim it on my insurance which i thought was insurance fraud. i thought they wanted to pass the buck to someone else rather than recall all the vehicles to put a grill on it to protect it from the elements. i own a 2007 hhr with 6000 miles on it. i didn't have air conditioning because they won't warranty it, and i didn't have $800 to fix it. the gm representative came to look at the vehicle while my wife was at the dealership so she got to talk to him about it. he said well it was no different than a rock hitting the windshield. i thought this was the lazy way out, saying they didn't want to protect vital parts of the car, (radiator,condenser,etc. by putting a simple piece of mesh or grill in place. this shouldn't be our job to make sure it wa s protected. also, the representative stated well,if we get a lot of complaints about it then maybe the designer will recall it and fix it. i could not wait for them to get off the lazy boy and fix a flaw they overlooked in the first place. i love everything about the car, but chevrolet had to get their head out of their own butts and realize these were the reasons why they were losing jobs, and stocks were falling, car sales were down, and competition wa s getting stronger. they should be more than happy to fix the problem. then i might go back to buying chevrolet cars.  view

2006 honda civic at the time of incident had 36,929 miles on it. vehicle lost all power. dealership found water pump broke,causing the serpentine belt to snap and the tension rod to break. there were no signs of problems before the vehicle broke down. vehicle started to smoke. honda dealership had to replace water pump, serpentine belt and tension rod. dealership felt water pump should not have broken at this mileage. i was advised later by another dealership that honda had casting problem with engine block. same thing happened to the boss, engine block cracked and had to be replaced. the honda was the same year and approximately the same mileage.  view

Air conditioning (a/c) problem was diagnosed as having a hole in the a/c condenser which honda dealer stated was caused by road debris which was not covered by the warranty. after researching further the obvious cause of this was an engineering design flaw .- the a/c condenser was completely exposed to all the elements of the road with no grille/protection in front of it. honda should recall these vehicles and install a grille in front of the condenser to protect it, and reimburse those of us who have paid to have condensers replaced due to their error. this design flaw also left the radiator exposed which was a safety hazard. note, the 2008 odyssey appeared to have a grille for protection.  view

Tl contact owns a 2004 kodiak colorado. while driving 55 mph, the passenger side rear tire blew out. approximately 30 minutes later, the passenger side front tire blew out while driving 55 mph. when the second tire failed, it struck the propane tank on the vehicle. the contact stated that there is no sun damage or any type of damage to the tires. the tires were purchased brand new. the manufacturer of the tires are carlisle st 225/75/r15 d. he contacted the manufacturer, but has not received a response. he has had to purchase two new tires from a different manufacturer. the current and failure mileages were 2,000. the dot number and any other vehicle information were unavailable. the correct tire size and model number of the trailer were unavailable in the drop down menu at the time of this complaint. the consumer provided pictures of the defect. updated 09/05/07  view

Vehicle hesitated while driving eventually stalling . had vehicle in 6 different repair shops. we have had it tuned up, replaced plug wires, sensors, and distributor among other things. the vehicle will drive fine for a few days or weeks and then the same problem will occur.  view

The vehicle has oem chrome alloy wheels. due to corrosion the tires will not properly seal and the tires constantly leak air pressure. due to corrosion the nuts and lugs do not screw on/off with normal torque. due to corrosion the center caps will not stay securely on the wheel.  view

A 2001 chevrolet 2500k hd with allison 1000 transmission would slow down and eventually stop in heavy traffic on any highway. starting date of those incidents was in april 2001. in warranty there were several scary situations, by where we had been pulling an rv on interstate highways. only luck and some experience saved us from disaster.  view

2001 dodge durango check gauge and oil light came on when riding on the highway due to faulty oil pump. * the consumer stated the engine was ticking and making a loud noise. the consumer stated that because the problem was not detected when she first took the vehicle to the dealer, it now needs a new engine. the consumer was informed the problem was fixed, however in may 2007, the consumer noticed the idle was off and when the consumer would come to a stop, the vehicle would not idle down. when the consumer applied the accelerator there was a noise coming from the transmission. the consumer was told there was nothing wrong with the vehicle, however when the vehicle was returned to her, she noticed the idle was fixed. the vehicle has been to the dealer on 4 separated occasions for engine related issues.  view

I purchased cooper life liner touring tires from kauffman tire. within 2 weeks of purchase, one of the tires developed a large bubble on the sidewall. kauffman staff told me this type of bubble was a result of "hitting a curb or other object." i knew i had not hit anything. they replaced the tire with the same brand & model. as time went by, i had chronic problems with my vehicle pulling to the right. i visited kauffman several times. they adjusted my alignment and checked my tire pressure on several occasions, to no avail. tuesday, july 3, 2007, i stopped by kauffman and told them there was apparently an underlying problem that caused my van to pull so severely that i had to struggle to keep in my lane. i requested that they do an in-depth check to determine the problem. they found that 3 of the 4 cooper life liner touring tires were defective, one had a bubble in the sidewall. kauffman employee again told me that this type of problem was caused by striking a curb or other object. again, i knew i had not hit the tire on anything. kauffman employees replaced the tires with 3 new cooper life liner touring tires. on july 6, 2007, one of the new tires developed a huge bubble in the sidewall and left me stranded on the side of i-20 in alabama. an internet search led me to your website, where i found that the tires kauffman put on my vehicle in 2007 were recalled in 2006. i fear someone may be injured or killed by these failing cooper tires.  view

1995 dodge ram 2500 with recalls concerns customer states that the recalls have not been fix by the dealer and it almost got him killed* the consumer stated there was a recall on the secondary hood latch and the dealer told him they could not perform the recall, because the primary latch was defective. upon leaving the dealership, the consumer hit a bump and the hood flew up over the windshield, which caused the consumer to loose control of the vehicle, and subsequently hit a jersey barrier. the consumer also stated the dealer didn't perform the coil spring tower recall sufficiently. the consumer stated the dealer didn't use a wrench, they just tack welded the plate on each tower. the recall was suppose to take 5 hours, however the consumer stated they were done in 15 minutes.  view

2007 gmc 3/4 ton savanna extended cargo van diesel customer states a safety concern on cargo van passenger side mirror* the consumer stated there are no inside rearview mirrors in this large extended cargo van. the consumer stated he wants the mirror replaced with a wide angle mirror that a driver can trust on the road.  view

Tail lights, backup lights, fog lights, and dash lights did not work. the fault wa s the lighting control module which had a recall issued. pontiac was not willing to repair the vehicle under the recall 94v190000 concerning headlight failure. these vehicles were assembled with lighting control modules which can experience excessive current leakage due to damaged surface mounting capacitors. this can cause loss of head lamps and parking lamps. consequence: sudden loss of headlamps can cause reduced driver visibility which can result in a vehicle accident. also, the head lamps cannot be turned off, or they may turn on while the vehicle is parked, resulting in loss of battery charge and inability to restart the car. remedy: dealers will replace the headlamp module. notes: system: lighting; head lights. vehicle description: passenger vehicles equipped with twilight sentinel lights. note: if your vehicle is presented to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and the remedy is not provided free of charge within a reasonable time or the remedy does not correct the defect, please contact pontiac at 1-800-762-2737, or oldsmobile at 1-800-442-6537. also, contact the national highway traffic safety administration's auto safety hotline at 1-800-424-9393.  view

At different throttle inputs there is an engine stutter/stumble. this happens mostly during (2000-3000 rpms) and is worse during cold and rainy weather, as well as driving up hill. this failure is dangerous because if it happens at the wrong time especially in vermont, someone could get killed. subaru should take care of the problem. there are at least 40 other people that i know of, that have the same problem. i as all these other people did not get what i paid for. subaru should admit that there is a problem tell us what it is and fix it before it is to late.  view
