Whenever the heater or defroster is turned on under 26 degrees temperature, all the windows will fog up on the inside if it's under 19 degrees january 8, 1995, was the first time this happened, and consumer has taken vehicle in to localchrysler dealership eleven times for same problem. chrysler has not found the problem.  view

Driving southbound on i65 in lebabnon, in on way to work at about 65-70 mph. suddenly the vans tarted to slow even though i was maintaiing pressure on gas pedal. van continued to slow with tractor trailers racing up behind me, swerving sorund me and hrons blaring. i was bale to get off at the next exit an made it to the end of the ramp where the vheicle just stopped moving.  view

1) the speedometer stopped working a few months ago. 2) my inspection sticker is now due to be replaced, but i can't get one without the speedometer working. 3) customer service thru gmc was no help at all. they said i needed to take it to the dealership to have it looked at. which i will have to pay for, then they will review the case. oh how nice, review it just to tell me i have to pay for it?! i've seen thousands of people reporting this on the internet. why hasn't anything been done? if your everyday average joe is responsible for the work/products he/she puts out, why not the big corporations?  view

Rear fan stopped working for a/c & heat. mechanic assumed it was a bad fan motor, but later discovered it was a faulty r&r power transistor. he said they've seen a few of these on the mdx's. we replaced the old one with a new part and it works correctly now.  view

Ever since we purchased our 2007 ford f250, (which was delivered new in sept. 2006), the throttle has failed to return properly. there are intermittent delays of up to 10 seconds before the engine will return to idle after releasing the throttle pedal when driving the vehicle. we have taken the truck back to the dealer or called the dealer eight or more times complaining about the problem since delivery. to date, the problem is not fixed.  view

I woke up last week to the sound of a car alarm. i looked outside and the front of my ford f 150 was engulfed in flames. it was so hot the tires melted into the driveway. we had not driven the truck in several days. it appears the fire started in the engine as the entire front of the vehicle is incinerated.  view

2001 dodge ram 1500 dash is cracking severely. will not be long before pieces start falling out exposing wires. called chrysler and was told vehicle is out of warranty and it is my problem.  view

1998 mercedes benz e-320, speed <15 mph had the front drivers side coil spring ejected and housing completely separated from the vehicle making the front end drop down onto driver's side front tire without warning. the impingement of the body onto the tire and wheel and/or the spring itself precluded any steering control. the coil spring mount or "saddle" had separated from the welded point to the frame of the vehicle. mercedes offerred to pay 25% of the repair fee due to excellent service history. we repeatedly requested a team from mercedes to inspect the vehicle because this vehicle would be ideal to investigate as no other complicating crash had occurred. they refused this. my wife authorized the repair but indicated that we wanted all parts to be saved for further investigation by the nhtsa.the next day, the service manager reported that mercedes now offerred to pay 50% of repair cost but required a "waiver" be signed to "hold harmless" mercedes from any further problems or damages incurred with this part of the vehicle. we refused to sign any waiver as it is our expectation that the repair be completed in a manner to ensure the vehicle's future safety. we contacted the body shop with the plan to inform mercedes that we would be towing the vehicle to another shop for further inspection/ repair. we were informed the repair had already been compelted and that the car was now at the dealership for allignment but old parts were saved for us. mercedes never informed us of any open investigation regarding this vehicle even when directly asked this question. we anticipate the repair to exceed $1,000 plus towing. i disagree with information provided by mercedes in earlier investigations indicating that this failure would not result in a loss of control of the vehicle. i completely lost all ability to steer the vehicle and was only able to stop without crashing because it occurred at low speed with no other vehicles or objects around me.  view

Brakes fail intermittently at various speeds. brake pedal cannot be depressed, even with both feet, making it impossible to stop vehicle. ther eis no warning that brakes are about to fail.  view

You need to fix this nhsta web site so people can enter complaints without all the validation - it was very painful to enter this request and i bet many people just give up. examples: i looked for chrysler and could not find "other" was not an option, too many other companies to scroll through - finally i realized daimler chrysler. also i entered a perfectly valid and the web site would not accept it saying it was invalid. now - on to the real issue... 1993 jeep cherokees with 50k-70k miles will stall on highway/other roads (quite dangerous). vehicle restarts after 1-2 retries. took to 3 shops and they found nothing and finally found that crank shaft sensor had to be replaced when i met someone else who had same problem.  view

Item # 1 engine light came on and stayed on. vehicle began to idle sluggishly when cold. repair shop investigated and found the lower engine manifold gasket had failed. replaced lower manifold and gasket and problem was corrected. item # 2 battery light flickering. grounding strap between alternator and body frame failed. reads open with multimeter. created by own grounding strap using 10 ga. wire and weather resistant ring-type connectors. no more battery light. item # 3 internal lights flicker randomly and intermittently. slamming all doors does not seem to affect the condition. problem still remains. i turned of the dome light switch to keep from running down my battery and eliminate the mobile "disco" effect.  view

Daughter entered passenger side of van through large sliding door. front passenger seat was fully forward. fell on exposed seat adjustment rails. required 13 stitches to close wound just below knee. rails were manufactured with sharp 90 deg corners and no protection. rails are exposed by approx 4 inches when front passenger seat is fully forward. same problem exists on driver's side.  view

Have 3 chips in windshield. seems the design is flawed and stones etc don't skip over like other models they hit straight on the glass and chip or break.  view

Vehicle hesitates terribly upon acceleration. i've called dealer numerous times and was told "this is normal" until the last call. now lexus acknowledges the problem and offers a remedy! fort myers dealer recalibrated the ecm and urged use of name brand premium fuel only! since these two changes have been made, improvement has been made, but not eliminated. there is still something not correct about trying to merge onto a highway and having the engine bog down as trucks bear down upon you!  view

Bmw 750 li 2006. i am the fist owner of this car. sicne i got this car it has given me much problem. i have owed this car for a year, and have taken it to the dealer many times. the problems were not solved. while driving the car jerked, and air conditioning ( a/c )smelled. the light always went on. there were so many problems.  view

I do not own the 2007 toyota camry or the lexus es350 , but in the course of test driving both of the vehicles, i was shocked to discover that the start/stop button defeats the older ignition key iinterlock system. in the older keyed ignition system the car must be in park to turn off the engine and remove the key from the ignition. in the 2007 models of lexus and camry the engine can be turned off with the vehicle in drive simply by touching the brake. here is no ignition key to place in the steering column.. please read the following which i sent to your site this morning and was asked to file a formal complaint: 2007 toyota camry and lexus es 350 do not use an ignition key. they use a "remote" which must be in close proximity to the vehicle when the "start/stop" button is pressed. other manufacturers (bmw, volvo) use both a "key" in the steering column and the "start/stop" button. while this second option at first seems redundant, it is a safety feature and toyota/lexus products may be prone to "rolling when stopped" in the following scenario: toyota/lexus: driver touches brake and hits the "start/stop" button to turn off the engine, but driver forgets to move the transmission from "drive" to "park". upon releasing the brake the vehicle will move, if not on level ground. bmw/volvo: as above, but driver is unable to pull "key" from steering column because vehicle is not in "park". therefore, driver places transmission in "park" before exiting the car, otherwise he will not have the vehicle "key" with him on leaving the car. the infiniti m35x awd uses a "start/stop" button, but "beeps" an alarm when the car is stopped in drive. in summary: redundancy (key/start-stop button) and alarms serve a useful safety purpose and should be incorporated into the toyota/lexus products. alternatively, the "start/stop" button should be active only when the vehicle is in park or neutral.  view

I purchased a 2007 toyota camry in september 2006. the vehicle has 16,000+ miles on it. the vehicle hesitates upon acceleration , and at times lunches into gear . this has caused honkning at us and harzardous conditions, especially when changing lanes on the freeway. there is a loud intermitent clunk when turning corners, backing up, and stopping. there is an apparent lack of power when the gears shifts in the automatic transmission. also, there is vibration when backing up with the air conditioner on. we have had the vehicle in the dealership several times and mostly get a song and dance routine from the dealership. they said that everything we were experiencing was normal or due to the computer design or emission standards. this is very difficult to accept since i have been driving for 50 years and have never encountered anything like this before. toyota has at this point not been able to resolve any of these issues. however, they did remove and replace the gas tank to eliminate the clunking problem, and i now know according to the dealership that it was not necessary. the clunking is still present. this car reacts like a vehicle with 200,000 miles on it that is in dire., it needs f a tune up and major overhaul. my wife was involved in a rear end accident 6 weeks ago, and now we realize that this may not have occurred if the car would have accelerated properly.  view

2006 hyosung gv650 stall and rear tire lockup during left hand turn. i believe this may be the kickstand safety switch, i have heard from others that the bike can shutoff during driving and become a hazard, i was taking a turn that may have opened it slightly causing the bike to stall. i have also heard the switch can get dust in it causing this problem, and won't start after washing the bike due to water in this switch.  view

In august 2006 while driving my 2005 audi s4 convertible on a busy street in bloomington, indiana at 45-50 mph, my car died without warning...i.e. no power steering, brakes. i was able to navigate it off-road and then towed to royal audi in bloomington, in. they kept the car over a month thinking maybe i needed a new engine. however, eventually they said it was a fuse which was replaced and the car drove fine. however, driving cross-country in january 2007 while on i40 in west oklahoma, trying to pass an enormous truck, i found i had no brakes and rear-ended another similar large truck ,totaling my car. despite a severe accident no airbags deployed either on the drivers or passenger's side.  view

Road debris or small rock came through the air dam in the lower valance on the front bumper, striking the air conditioner condenser and piercing a hole in it. this resulted in a leak of the air conditioner coolant and required replacement of the condenser unit at approximately $700. american honda will not cover under their vehicle warranty because they claim it is due to a road hazard and not from a manufacturing defect. i respectfully disagree and believe this is a latent design defect, that from a quick internet search, appears to be occurring regularly on several honda models. this damage is also causing the release of potentially harmful air conditioner freon into the atmosphere. most importantly, in 30+ years of driving, i have never heard of a pebble causing such damage on a vehicle. it is unconscionable for american honda to take the position that this is a road hazard and to direct their customers to file with their insurance carriers for relief.  view

My 2005 dodge durango has stalled without warning several times since purchase two years ago. this has happened while moving and the steering locks up. the dealership has examined the vehicle several times and found "nothing" to be wrong with it. there are several other durango owners with this problem. this needs to be recalled and fixed before someone gets hurt or killed (if they haven't already).  view

I was backing my car out of the garage. rear front springs shattered, shooting down into and puncturing the tire. i had this incident happened while the car was driving on a highway or even on a side street, the potential that my wife and kids could have been seriously injured is quite probable. per the tow truck driver, this is a known and common problem with ford taurus. if so, given the potential serious safety issue involved, why has there not been a recall?  view

I was stopped at a red light and when it turned green vehicle moved for about half a block then there was this noise coming from the front that immediately disabled the truck in traffic . the truck just stopped instantly, engine still running, but truck won't move. i had it towed to the dealer, and was told it was a faulty differential and driveshaft.  view

I just purchased this vehicle from a private party and i had the vehicle , a 2000 ford focus 4 door sedan, for about 4 months and the key did not working correctly in the cylinder. would have to jiggle the steering wheel and the key for about 30 minutes before it would turn over to start. just last week on 06/05/2007 the car no longer started, i could not get the key to turn to start. i called the local ford dealer, and they told me it was the ignition cylinder that needed to be replaced. i have an appointment, and i talked to the manager at the service department, and he said this was a countinous problem with this kind of vehicle. this wa s easily costing me $300 that i dont have... this problem needed to be recalled. by the way i had to have the vehicle towed to get it fixed.  view

I own a 1998 catera. while driving at 45 mph on a curved road the engine and power cut off . i lost power steering and had to struggle to stop. the car on the side of the road. it happened in a matter of seconds. i had the car towed to the caddy dealer, and they said the crack sensor went bad. i reviewed the internet and saw this was a common problem. i was not hurt, but i was very concerned. if my son was driving i believe we both would not be hear and no one would know why we crashed head on. this was the second time i had trouble with this car. the first time the car started to sputter and smoke came out from under the hood. i pulled over and had it towed. the valve cover was leaking into the spark plug hole and burning the rubber boot. it got so hot the plug melted, causing the smoke to come out. also, i found out it was a common problem. this car needed some immediate attention before someone was seriously hurt or killed. i wa trying to get rid of the car. it drove it to the dealer, who told me they didn't want to help.  view

2002 ford taurus - i have water leaking onto the passenger side floor when it rains. it seems to come in through a cowl during heavy rain. the passenger floor collects water from under the glove box and the blower area. the ford dealer told me i would have to pay for this problem. also, the dealer said the problem was a known problem ,and ford even had a modified part to control the leaking, but i would have to pay for it. the estimate was over $200 and no guarantee. the problem would be fixed. this was a defect in design and should be repaired by ford.  view

Around 12-13k mi a lot of strange vibration appeared on the clutch pedals, a lot of pulsation during take offs and shifts, slight grinding noice during shifts, vibration from the engine compartment and the shift leaverage at around 2k rpm. makes it easy to stall especialy during hot days. dealer identify the problem as the failing dmf and throw-out bearing and possibly a spring/pressure plate. the clutch disk itself was not slipping.  view

Took the 2002 taurus to the ford dealer with an oil leak issue to have it corrected under an extended warranty. was informed by service manager that along with the oil leak the car also had a broken rear coil spring. when questioned as to why that should be a problem at 44,000 miles the service manage r had no explanation. also, he indicated that this repair was not covered by the extended warranty. it was my belief that the springs were checked specifically because it was known that they had a record of failure. the service manage r was aware from the beginning that they would not be covered by the warranty. i did provide the authorization to have both rear springs replaced, and paid for a wheel alignment which was also recommended. however, i was never informed that this was a common problem with the ford taurus.  view

Tl contact owns a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer ext. the vehicle has continental contitrac tr owl tires (lt275/70r18 125/1225). while driving 55 mph, the contact heard a loud roaring noise and felt the vehicle pull to the right. he noticed that the tread on the passenger side front tire had separated. the dealer was unable to diagnose the cause of failure. the front two tires were replaced. the current mileage is 25,100 and failure mileage was 24,800.  view

This 2003 kia rio was purchased used at a dealership a.v. kia, palmdale, ca, , but soon developed problems with the transmission. our insurance company replaced the transmission, citing problems which occurred due to our son, which were allegations made by a. v. kia. shortly after the car became inoperable and stopped on the freeway quite suddenly. no one was hurt, but our son and his passengers were rather shook up. fixed one more time, while our son was driving the car when the left front axle fell off. this happened after a. v. kia repaired the transmission. after being fixed once again with another new transmission, while my husband was driving the car immediately after picking it up from the dealership it once again developed transmission problems. the car stopped at a busy intersection in rosamond, ca. the car was fixed, (sensor problem, and soon taken to a car dealership in lancaster, ca. to be sold on consignment. while the sales representative was taking it out to show and attempt to sell the car again it stopped, this time on very busy sierra highway. the dealer called us to imform us of the problem with the car. a. v. kia took the car in for repair once again, replacing the transmission!. with all of the transmission problems this car has had we found it extremely dangerous, not only to our family, but potentially to someone else. a. v. kia continued to just pass the buck without really getting to the root of the problem. we didn't really know where to turn, but we felt that filing a complaint with the dot was a good start. a. v. kia and kia of america should be held totally responsible for the dangerous junk that they were selling and manufacturing.  view

While getting into 2004 dodge ram 1500 the mounting handle inside the cab failed and caused me to fall off the running tube onto the ground striking my head. i am handicapped and require a strong grip to assist me into the cab of the truck. this vehicle was chosen due to its wide doors as my foot has been fused and will not bend. i am not sure why i was not seriously injured.  view

My 1995 voyager was supposedly serviced for nhtsa recall 99v113000 and manufacturer's recall 818/airbag system wiring on september 2, 1999. at that time there had been no failure of the system. what was done at that time i do not know. in february, 2007, i was driving in a snow storm with the rear wiper turned on. i parked the vehicle for a short time. when i started the vehicle about an hour later, i noticed the airbag light remained on. i subsequently noticed the rear wiper no longer functioned. i thought this was a strange coincidence. later i read an article about going online to see if there were any recalls on your cars. that was when i found out about recall 99v113000. i took the vehicle to the dealer who refused to repair the malfunction according to the recall. i called chrysler who also informed me i must pay to have the system diagnosed and pay for any repairs if they determine the cause of the failure was not due to the recall conditions. i believe the failure that occurred was related to the recall and chrysler is responsible for making the repair at no cost to me.  view

2002 grand am gt had rack and pinion steering column replaced may 9, 2007. nine days later, part failed. general motors said it was a manufacturer's defect in the parts. rack and pinion system was replaced again on 5-24-07. problem remains and have to take to another dealership for diagnosis. other dealership preliminary diagnosis is same problem. safety concern!!!. steering becomes difficult. i have a 6-year old and drive on the highway often with her. this needs to be investigated for safety concerns.  view

The srs light on the dash indicates a potental air bag malfunction. the dealer confirms the srs module has failed on my 1999 mercedes s320 making the air bags inoperable on vin: wdbga32g2xa432082 country of origin germany manufacturer mercedes-benz model s320w 4dr sedan 5 passenger the quoted cost for repair is $620.00 for the srs module and a further $182.00 labor. the total repair cost of over $800 is exorbitant and preys on the public need for saftey. has there been a nhtsa recall or a manufacturer technical service bulletin? verbal oververtures to mb and the dealer have failed to find relief, and a letter to merecedes benz has gone unanswered.  view

Drivers seat belt randomly disconnects. may disconnect 2 times within 5 minutes or may disconnect once in 2 weeks. everytime i connect the belt i tug and yank to make sure it is connected but doing this makes no difference. i hope it does not disconnect in an accident.  view

2000 saab 9-3 fuel line disconnected at the tank on the pressurized side of the fuel pump due to a broken plastic tab which hods the fuel line in place ( a terriable design) allowing the fuel pum do discharge the fuel directly on top of the gas tank at the maximum discharge rate of the fuel pump ... i.e. gallons per minute were being pumped out the top of the tank resulting in an extremely dangerous sitituation.  view

My 2000 mercedes e320 has inoperable displays for the gear, temperature, and time. i am very concerned about this because this is my wife's vehicle. with the display being defective, it is possible for an inexperienced driver to put the vehicle in the wrong gear because there is no visual verification at eye level, as is required on all cars. i have even been in the car with her and witnessed her putting the car in the wrong gear because she wasn't able to see the gear without looking down at the center console. mercedes is aware of this design defect in the instrument cluster, but refuses to repair it without charging the customer. this defect hs been known for years and they even continued to install them after customers reported the defect to them by the hundreds. i consider this a safety issue that should be paid for by mercedes as they are aware that it is a defect in the design of the instrument cluster. all cars that i have driven have the gear clearly displayed on or near the steering column. please let me know if there is a federal requirement for this function to work at all times. thank you.  view

Purchased car may 24, 2007 with 68004 miles. on may 25th speedometer started sticking and then stopped working altogether. then working sporadically. was clocking 0mph on highway when estimated speed probably 60mph. have not done anything to repair yet. seems like a defect as per hundreds and hundreds of complaints on line.  view

My jeep has died on me 3 times:1) in jan 07; 2 mos after i bought it-while in transit on the freeway @ 70mph all power was lost, engine shut down, lasted about 5 sec. it came back on-on its own while still moving. 2) 03/07 while in transit, @ 10mph shut down, had to put it in park and restart it. 3) may 07- while aproaching a red light, it shut down, had to put it in park and restart it. every single time its ocurred i have taken it in the the service dept and they are unable to find the malfunction. the third instance, they installed an autopilot- to record the malfunction, but on ly let me keep it for 1 1/2 weeks because the service department only has 1 in the whole shop, and they cannot spare me the autopilot for the length of time that it might take for the issue to reocurr, of course nothing happened. i believe that this customer service is a joke, & feel it is a major hazard, to continue to drive around like this, i fear that it may stall while on the freeway and get hit by another traveling vehicle. another issue is the ignition/starter, it seems to randomly get stuck- and sounds as though i am still turning the key when my hand is not even touching it. i am frustraded with this lemon and would like to know who else is having the same issues- because i am not getting any solutions from the service department & manufacturer.  view

As briefly and succintly as i can; my father was driving a 1993 ford escort station wagon on one of the last days of winter when he apparently hit a patch of black ice. he did go left of center and was hit by an oncoming vehicle (each vehicle @ 35mph). my question involves the side impact capability of this model - the impact was as close to being right on the "b'" pillar as possible and this thing just folded in half. the roof folded, the floor buckled and the passenger side was touching the steering wheel. at this point, i need to emphasize this car was not a bucket of rust - he bought it used because of the low miles and great condition (my father, the eternal bargain hunter). although i've lost my father to this accident, i am curious if this was an anomoly or are these station wagons noted for this collapsing feature? if this hasn't been noted before, i will presume this was a "one of" event, but if there are others that have exhibited the same failure mode, i would say there is a problem. as a side note, i have seen where this year and several after it weren't tested for side impact. any information you may have to share would be greatly appreciated. thanks, tom davis  view

Transmission locks up or hard downshifts at speeds of fifteen miles or below on decellateration. found recall campaign number 99v138000, dated june 02, 1999, however was told my vin number was not on recall list. i checked the internet and found hundreds of blogs of complaints involving the exact same problem. if this is a known failure and a recall was issued why not to some vehicles and not to all transmissions that were affected. the jaguar person i spoke to was very defensive and would not let me get a word in edgewise, kept repeating that my vin number was not associated to that particular recall. this is a transmission problem that hundreds of owners are facing and should not be associated to a particular vehicle. i understand that the xj8 has the same transmission and have the same problem associated with the transmission.  view

At different times, i and a friend driving my jeep 2006 5.7l hemi commander have accidentally shut off the vehicle while driving on a highway doing 65mph while in cruise control. how this happens is like this. depending on how you sit, when you engage the cruise control, you remove your foot from the accelerator which brings your knee up rather close to the key ignition. if you have anything attached to your key chain such as other keys that dangle down, then all it takes is for you to move your knee to the right thereby knocking the key chain with the dangling keys which will in turn move the key in the ignition to the off position, basically shutting off the engine while you are doing 65mph on the highway. when this happens, you probably wouldn't realize that this is what just took place because you're too busy being a little freaked out about having just lost all engine power but the electrical still works. this has happened 3 times.  view

Bridgestone tires. customer states that they have lived with the squishing into the pavement since 11/06 and was reimbursed but still is not happy with the new tires that were put on the car* the consumer stated she has had to live with an uncontrollable vehicle when turning or accelerating. it was the consumers opinion that the tire were being broken at the sidewalls before installation and overpressurized on the red tire machine to stretch them and then filled with a gas that causes them to age prematurely, so they look like they have bee driven 40, 000 when they are brand new. a mechanic told the consumer, the tires were being filled with nitrogen instead of air. updated 04/09/07. the consumer has had 8 sets of tires placed on the vehicle. the consumer stated the sidewall were weak which caused the tires to blow out. updated 04/12/07. consumer stated on april 7, 2007 she has received a full refund from discount tires in the amount of $374.10 and returned the four tires to tire company. updated 4/18/07 the consumer stated she has not received compensation for her time. the consumer stated the business merely bought their tires back. updated  view

My vehicle began to rev like it was in neutral when i was driving at low speed or when i proceeded from a stopped position. i took my vehicle to south shore honda. on sat 5/26/07 was told that it was the egr valve and that it was still covered under a special warranty. i was told that i had other issues. 1. front engine mount $362.75, 2.side engine mount $219.65 3. dealer recommended fuel injector and valve cleaning 193.90 total $843.26 with tax. three days later same problem with the engine rev like it was in neutral. took vehicle back to honda on 6/2/07. this time i was told that it was the transmission and that it would cost $4900.00 to fix. vehicle has 42,839 miles. spoke to service manager about all the events and said he would call honda hq and get back to me. i will give an update as soon as i hear from the service manger.  view

While driving my 2005 chevy impala after dark the headlights just went out. was driving 55mph down the highway with my whole family was in the car. pulled the headlight switch in and out a few times and they came back on. about one mile later the both went out again.  view
