2000 BUICK REGAL User Comment / Complaint

About four days ago check engine check light and oil light came on. i checked the oil which was fine and planned on taking to the garage this week. as i was driving to work at approximately 3:00 pm on may 21, 2007 i made a left hand turn from us 1 onto southampton road. as i accelerated the car the engine accelerated to full speed. i immediately pressed the brake , but the engine continued to speed up. i put the transmission into neutral and the rpms red lined above 7000 rpms. i shut off the car and attempted to restart it and it started normally, but as soon as i accelerated, it repeated with the same unintentional acceleration. fotunately there were no cars in front of me or i would certainly have been involved in a serious accident.
