2007 hyundai sonata with passenger side air bags concerns about the air bags not being activated when the passenger seat is occupied.* updated 04/04/07  view

Customer feels that the seat belts and the side air bags are a hazard and are not safe in a rollover* the consumer stated the seatbelts are not safe in a rollover due to the incorrect assumption that the roof will remain intact. the consumer also stated the air bags are not helpful because occupants may have their heads thrown against the side windows by a previous maneuver or impact, before a side impact, only to have their necks broken by an inflating air bag. the head restraints have supports that are too weak to prevent injury in a severe rear impact.  view

I am concerned that the passenger airbag is not functioning properly on my 2006 hyundai sonata lx. there are countless times that a passenger is sitting next to while i am driving and the "passenger airbag off" indicator is lit specifying that the airbag will not deploy if an accident happens. i asked hyundai about this issue and they keep telling me that the "ecu has determined that your passenger is sitting in a position that will be better not to have the airbag deploy. try adjusting the seat and have the passenger move around etc". or they tell me that my passenger does not weight enough (115 lbs is plenty). thank you for your help in rectifying this situation.  view

The srs light on my 2000 honda accord ex indicating failure has illuminated for the secoind time. the first time i took the car to my honda dealereship and they rest the light, 1 minute job for $100. they said if it goes on again i may need a new system which can run up to $1000 or more. if this is an important safety component as defined by nhtsa, why is not covered by a lifetime warranty?  view
