In november 2002, i purchased a 2002 ford f-150 extended cab, which was made in canada 09/01. after the break-in period i noticed that at speeds of 80-85 mph the vehicle would whine , but i assumed that was normal because after 85 mph the whine went away. at about 89,000 miles and the end of the warranty, at 35-50 mph the vehicle would have loud roaring/whining noise from the rear end. took vehicle to dealer for repairs on 10 january 2007,. the dealer replaced the pinion gear and assembly at a cost of 1501.00 , and the dealer said it was fixed. i drove the vehicle less than 1,500 miles after the repair was made, the vehicle started doing the same thing again at speeds 40-50 mph, but with an added twist this time, the truck would whine even when i accelerate. i put the truck back in the shop for the same problem again on 01/23/2007. the truck has a 3.55 rear end.  view

Tl*- the contact stated that while driving the 1997 ford expedition into the driveway the cable that held the spare tire snapped, causing the spare tire to fall onto the ground while going up over the curb. updated 02/2/707  view

Tl*- the contact stated that while driving her 2006 toyota corolla (200 failure mileage) at 25 mph she came to red light. the contact applied the brakes which slowed the vehicle down, but did not come to a complete stop. the contact also stated that on another occasion she had to swerve to keep from hitting another vehicle in the rear, because of the same failure. the dealer informed her that there was nothing wrong with the brakes.  view

Tl* - the contact stated the he owns a 2006 toyota rav4. while driving his vehicle at 5 mph and he was tried to come to a stop when the vehicle accelerated. the contact stated that this happened 3 times before he took the vehicle to dealership. the dealership did run a computer diagnostic and found no errors. the contact stated that the vehicle ran fine for a while and on 12/29/06 while driving the vehicle tried to make a turn and to stop when the vehicle accelerated again. he stated that this has happened 4 times that day. the contact stated that the second time the vehicle would not come to a stop and ran into stairs which damaged the guard that protects the bumper. the contact called toyota's regional office in chicago. the contact met an investigator at a dealership to run more diagnostic testing. the contact stated that the investigator found nothing wrong with the vehicle, but is waiting for the official test results. the consumer stated the third time the incident happened, he ran into a deck and caused damage to the vehicle. updated 03/07/07  view

Everything was running smooth and strong when the 1995 toyota 4runner hit 143k. just today the vehicle started idling really low and rough, and finally this afternoon the engine & battery light came on. the more it drove, the rougher it got. the engine was noticeably running much worse than when the vehicle was started and took off for home. i shut it off to get a look at it, and everything was fine, until i started it up again and it blew white smoke from the tailpipe. water seems to be leaking but not at the radiator, hoses, or pump. it is a blown head gasket. from mechanical experience and speaking with other 1995 toyota 4runner owners, i understand that blowing the head gasket on this particular vehicle is more commonplace than i had expected.  view

I have a 2003 toyota sequoia that just had a major computer system failure with the skid control systems. there was no warning, the vsc lights came on in the dashboard and a loud sound came from the engine, like bending metal. this vehicle only has 28k in 3 1/2 years, and that means i'm 6 months past bumper to bumper warranty. i had heard about this problem previously because i had a similar problem within months of buying the car, but that was covered under warranty. as i research on-line at www.tundrasolutions.com/forums/sequoia, i discovered that many people had the exact same problem and toyota was not willing to fix the problem. i took the vehicle to toyota and they replaced 2 computers related to the traction control systems at a cost of $2,300. they replaced: translate computer assembly & skid control computer assembly. i'm upset because toyota knows about this dangerous problem, and obvious expensive repair, and will do nothing about it. moreover, my case is only one of many owners with the same problem. i ask you to review this ever growing issue with sequoia's and tundras and persuade toyota to do the right thing, and issue a recall for the defective computer systems.  view

On november 5, 2006 a trailer hitch and lighting package was installed by u-haul of poway, ca. on november 17, 2006 i picked up a trailer from u-haul in order to transport personal items from california to oregon. after traveling to oregon towing the trailer it was determined that the turn signals and brake lights were not working properly. i took my car to the bend, oregon u-haul dealership to determine what was wrong. it was determined that the converter box was defective. i had it replaced. while driving my car in oregon in mid december the turn signals stopped working. i took the car to the local subaru dealership and it was determined that due to impoper installation of the lighting package the turn signal wire fell onto the exhaust pipe, melting the insulation which caused a short in the system and then blowing the signal fuses. i brought this to the attention of u-haul in poway and have been met with "too bad" attitude. these are serious safety issues. u-haul may be intalling defective converter boxes in vehcles and also intalling lighting packages in vehicles improperly. u-haul needs to be investigated for these serious safety issues.  view

Loud abnormal knocking sound coming from engine with clutch lever released. same sound nearly inaudible with clutch lever pulled in. primary drive nut on crankshaft that secures primary drive gear assembly loosened and partially unthreaded. nut then makes with contact with the inner right hand engine case and rubs. the primary drive gear is then allowed to slide on the crankshaft outwards towards the clutch assembly and makes contact, the primary drive gear spring washer is then broken allowing the primary drive gear assembly to seperate and let the internal springs fall out. various pieces of metal fragments can fall into the oil sump. possibility of clutch driven gear damage as well as camshaft drive gear damage or engine failure if left unchecked. primary drive gear springs and spring washers replaced. primary drive gear assembly nut torqued to specification. remove broken parts from oil sump if present. replace crankcase cover gasket, engine oil, and coolant.  view
