I own a 2007 chrysler aspen with 1500 miles on this vehicle. i turned off the main highway on to a secondary road, when then accelerator was pushed the engine shuttered briefly then accelerated to a high speed on it's own. i pushed the brake pedal down very hard and it would not stop the vehicle,i had to place the transmission into neutral and switch the ignition off to stop the car. luckily i was not at the school yard were i had just picked my child up. i called a tow truck to pick my car up and carry to the dealership as i was too scared to try and drive it again. the dealer said they would check out the problem and would have. contact chrysler to see what could have caused the problem and that a mechanic would drive it to see if they could recreate the problem. the car is still at the dealership with no response to what the problem might be. this is a very serious safety hazard that could have injured someone and needs to be investigated to prevent future incidents!  view

I've had the same issue. So far, the driver's side hasn't broken! Check Engine light is typical; turns out to be Air Flow Meter; $7-800 at dealer; I bought one on Amazon.com for $65. Otherwise, love the car! Good Luck!  view

Very dangerous situation occurred while driving on city roads where posted speeds are 35-45 mph. the car just started to speed up on its own and i could not get the engine to slow down. the only way i could avoid a traffic accident was to ride the brakes continuously. by the time i got home the brakes were smoking and extremely overheated. i almost could not stop with the engine racing and the brakes worn out. i had to shut the engine down while still in drive, almost running into the wall of my house. i am 70 years old and was very scared. on edmunds .com there are three other reported instances of the same thing happening with the same make and model. my car is undriveable and i will have to get it towed from my house to the dealer for it to be checked out, please follow up on this as it is a very dangerous condition. i was very close to having an accident.  view

I have been having trouble with the headlights and fog lights on my 2004 mazda 6s. i have had to replace the bulbs twice in the last 1.5 months, by a dealership. they are burning out, but not the brights. the dealership, central mazda, in plainfield, ct, had put the vehicle through a series of electrical tests this morning and can't seem to locate the problem. the dealership has only charged me for the first replacement, but i am not sure this will continue to be a free service. i have no other complaints at all about the car. i bought it new.  view

It appears numerous gm vehicles are current experiencing speedometer cluster problems, cause the speedometer to fail. my issue is with a 2004 chevrolet silverado. there appears to be numerous complaints online, without any recall proposed by gm.  view

I have a 2002 mercury mountaineer that has 59,000 or so miles on it. i just had to have the transmission replaced. i now know that this was the first symptom though at the time i didn't think much about it, the car would not go into gear right away when i shifted into reverse or drive. it would rev a little before going into gear. then it started to vibrate when it would shift gears while driving. ultimately, i had to have the transmission completely rebuilt,( replaced torque converter, the transmission case was repaired, the seals and bands replaced) at a cost of $3070.00. i had the work done at aamco so i don't know if the old parts are still available.  view

Driving on rt. 10 in nj, oil pressure gauge dropped and engine made a loud noise and stopped. barely made it to the side of the road, after almost getting rear ended. had it towed to dealer where dodge's independent inspector said it was the thermostat. had engine replaced by my mechanic and was determined to be sludge build up with the pump completely clogged and the oil screen also clogged with metal fragments.  view

1. dash warp causes visibility problems, defroster malfunction, loose trim. i drove over a seam in the roadway at an overpass (small bump) & the vent trim popped loose. this is simply an aging issue as there was no unusual event. my car is a 1999 ford contour, but this issue is also prevalent on the mercury mystique 1999 & 2000 , and some 1998 models with the newer style dash. 2. the trim popped loose from the dash while commuting on i-45 to work. the vent trim came to rest in front of the air bag & on my arms as i drove, but fortunately did not cause an accident. 3. the vent trim was placed loosely onto the dash so the defroster would still be usable, but the warped dash prevents it from being properly secured. a new vent trim will not fix this problem. there was an old recall which included a 'repair kit', but it has expired. i would like to see the recall re-instated.  view
