1991 MERCURY CAPRI User Comment / Complaint

Contact states that it was a dry an clear day. his wife was driving up a hill one of the rods tore away from the sub frame of the vehicle. after this separation it caused the vehicle to come to a screeching halt. the contact gained this information after have the vehicle towed to a repair shop. the contact has already contacted ford about the problems with windstar van, but they are saying that it is outside of his warranty.  view

Tl* - the contact is calling about the safety recall (05-v452000), that she recently received. the contact purchased her car on 11/20/03, and on 01/21/04 the contact had to return it to the dealer because her brakes were grinding. the contact stated that there were no bad road conditions, and that she was driving 35 mph. the contact stated that in a 2 years period she has taken her car to the dealer nine times and to an outside mechanic 5 times and each time the problem was with her brakes. the contact stated that she has all receipts and all information concerning the many trips she has made to have her brakes fixed.  view

Noticed the slipping/jerking when it changes gears (severe on lower gear shifts). i brought the vehicle for check-up, and mechanic diagnosed as transmission problem. researched the problem, and it seems that this is a widespread issue, that even a recall of honda accord to 2001 models. i called the honda customer service but was told that the vehicle is not part of the recall since it does not cover 2002 models. it seems to me that honda is negligent in not including the 2002 models since this problem is exact/similar to the symptoms of the recalled models.  view

Speedometer on 2003 silverado failed while driving to work. glanced down at the instrument panel and noticed that i was traveling 120 mph in a school zone!!!!....obviously an error. the speedo needle is gittery and the instrument panel flickers. i'm gravely concerned that i no longer know how fast/slow i'm driving. this is a safety issue and must be addressed/resolved.  view

I was braking and brake pedal sank to the floor. it turned out steel hydraulic brake lines had failed. i had all of them replaced in about 3/06 for a cost of $1000. i did not replace at the time the master cylinder to abs lines. they failed on 11/23/2006 and i have retained them. if these components had failed at highway speeds it could have been potentially deadly. note that my 1994 taurus sho had a similar failure. this vehicle has also had the transmission cooler steel lines fail and other severe undercarriage rust problems.  view

The car (an audi a4) started shaking and could not be driven over 40 miles per hour. it had to be pulled over to the side of the road and be towed to a dealer to replace 2 spark plug ignition coils. 4 spark plug ignition coils have failed during the past year. the most recent occurrence is listed below.  view

I have a 94 isuzu trooper subn, my motor needs replacing this is less then a year. i replaced a water pump 2xs, motor vealcover kasits/motor inside was no good. i replace the transmission, the driver shift is loose. i give the care the best car some thing about this car is falling apart. in less then a year $8,000 was put on this truck. i need help im a single mother of three sons this truck is the one transportation i have. i would like to know if my truck is on the recall list.  view

The seat belt on the second row of the toyota sienna minivan, become inoperative under normal conditions. the seat belt will not retract making the seat useless.  view

Tl* - the contact states that her 1992 mercury cougar's headlights continue to go off and on. the contact states that she could be sitting, parked or driving, and lights always turn of but if she turns the switch off and on the lights turn on again. the contact states that this started happening back in june of this year. the vehicle was purchased last year. the contact said that she did find the recall on this vehicle which was issued 10/08/99 for exterior lighting: headlights: switch.  view

While driving my 2003 durango and started noticing some vibration in the front end so i took the vehicle in to get it checked and it appears the lower ball joints are bad. this is after i had the uppers replaced due to a recall. i am not sure how long these parts are guaranteed to last but i know i have much older vehicles that still have the original parts in them. sounds like they should have recalled more than just the upper ball joints. i am going to have them replaced but i think a failure after such a short time should also be investigated for a possible recall, perhaps checking the whole front suspension would be wise before someone is killed because something falls off the car.  view
