While driving a 2005 dodge durango owned by my husband, richard flippin, the vehicle spontaneously lost power and the steering locked. i had a small amount of give and was able to maneuver the m/v slightly and straddle the driveway of a strip mall. i then put the m/v in park and restarted. had i been traveling on the highway at a high speed...with my children...i don't even want to think about it.  view

Dt*: the contact stated while traveling at high speeds or coming to a stop, the vehicle stalled without warning. each time the vehicle was restarted, it stalled again after it was slowed down to 10 mph. the vehicle was taken to the service dealer who performed diagnostic testing which identified cause code #15 and replaced the ignition coil assembly, wire repair time (major), coil assembly, ignition coil add scan tool operations. a year later, the vehicle was taken to another service dealer who could not determine the cause of the problem. the manufacturer was not notified. updated 10/25/2006 -  view

Dt*: the consumer stated that after purchasing a new vehicle, the passenger side airbag intermittently went into lock mode. the vehicle was taken to a dealer who performed a diagnostic test the vehicle was currently at the dealer and was not being serviced. the vehicle was a 2007 chevrolet aveo. updated 10/25/2006 - the air bag locked in the off mode although an adult passenger (155 lbs) was in the passenger seat. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and tested. the dealer stated that their test indicated there was nothing wrong with the system. the dealer claimed that the passenger was sitting in the seat incorrectly.  view

Dt*: the contact stated the rear head rest did not extend high enough to protect the rear passengers. updated 10/25/2006 - adjustment of the rear head rest could not be made according to the owner's manual. when raising the head rests to their maximum position they do not lock in place. any pressure from the passenger's head caused the rest to drop to it's lowest position, causing the passenger's head to hit the rear window.  view

While driving i heard a pop and the truck jerked to the right. i had no control of the steering. i hit a large tree stump. it caused several thousand dollars of damage. while the insurance appraiser and body shop owner were looking at the truck they discovered that the screw from the tie rod into the rack and pinion steering was stripped. it fell apart taking away all my control of steering the truck. ford refuses to even look at the truck.  view

I am a child passenger safety technician and during the past several months, i've installed/inspected several britax marathon seats that have a problem with the rear facing locking clips. when installing the seat with the required amount of tension the vehicle's seat belt, the locking clip closest to the buckle will not stay locked.  view

2002 jeep grand cherokee. steering wheel began making strange sounds. steering gear and associated parts were replaced. shortly after, strange sounds returned, the steering began to become completely unassisted at low speeds for a brief second. the problem causes quite a scare and causes temporary loss of control. this is associated with low speed idle. damage is imminent without repair. this problem is well documented among jeep chat rooms. second well documented problem among jeep owners. faulty power window units that fail without warning and cause window to be stuck up or down. this causes driver to be forced to drive with open non responding windows in a variety of weather conditions, obvious safety and health hazard. third chronic hazard well known to jeep owners as well as jeep. the blend doors on a/c consistently fail right after warranty period. this causes a failure of the defroster and obvious danger, as well as drivers are forced to drive with constant unheated airflow until costly repair. jeep is well aware of these problems but refuses to acknowledge a consistent problem and offer correction for all affected vehicles.  view

I am basically having the same trouble with my blower. speeds 1, 2 and 3 do not work, but my air conditioning will kick off. the air recirculation will also kick off and change to fresh air. it is driving me up a wall. i live in texas and not having an air conditioner is awful, but to have one that will work sometimes, is awful.  view

10am, driving at a low rate of speed, slowing to turn left, i suddenly lost power steering and had to manual make the turn (very difficult). the van was also hesitating, like it would stall. i regained full power and power steering after 10 seconds +/-. noon, same day, accellerating <35mph, uphill, same problem occurred with the exception that after power steering failure, i completely stalled in the road and had to restart the vehicle. brought to dealership wednesday. they were unable to find the problem (no code) or duplicate the problem. (also an issue with an intermittent problem with the power side door popping off but not power opening). both electrical issues have occured since the five star dealership corrected an electrical problem with my power gatelift popping off but not power opening) i have called chrysler directly about technical service bulletins issued on both items and the advance service information 02-018/nhtsa#10000327 relating to the problem with the power side door and/or liftgate. even with providing this information, the problem cannot be fixed until they get a "code". i have exhausted my progress with chrysler in their assistance with the proper diagnosis of the problem so i could pay to have the correct component replaced. my option is to pay $50 per diagnostic check by the dealer regardless of whether the vehicle "codes" the problem and no assurances as to the number of diagnostic checks it may take to produce the "code", so i filed a complaint with chrysler customer assistance "which is handled in house". when asked what department handles complaints, i was told " chrysler customer assistance". i clarified that is the same department title as to which i was speaking with, it was explained that customer assistance has many departments, which are not given titles, and that they are not allowed to provide names of whom would be handling the complaint, nor would anyone follow up with me. the circles begins!  view
