Dt*: the contact stated while driving 5 mph, the child was observed unlatching the lever and loosening the entire harness. the system used to secure the seat was a lap belt combination for a forward facing child seat. the contact alerted the manufacturer, but no resolution was provided. make: britax, model: marathon, model#e9l0627, dom: 05/12/05, updated 10/18/2006 - the consumer's 21 month old child pulled back on the strap which caused the harness release lever to be depressed. the child's weight against the harness released the harness.  view

On the morning of 10/20/2006, my husband was driving to work in our 1998 chrysler concorde. he was in rush hour traffic and the engine started knocking and losing power, the oil light also came on when he stopped. he was able to make it to work and park the car. only to be told by a certified mechanic that we have "engine failure" and need a new engine. more than likely due to "oil sludge"...whatever that is. we have had the oil changed in this car every 3,000 miles with synthetic oil since purchasing it from my parents in 2001. my parents had purchased the vehicle new and also had the oil changed every 3,000 miles. our mechanic told us this "oil sludge" and engine failure is a major problem with these cars that have the 2.7l engine. we can not afford a new engine let alone a rebuilt engine. my husband has no transportation to work now, as we have 5 children 3 of them under 3, and i can't be without a vehicle due to our middle daughter's health problems and 3 weekly doctor appointments. my husband's job is in the city which is a 30 - 45 minute commute. now my husband is having to take a bus to work and has to add 2 additional hours on to his commute time. less time with family and a car with 72,000 miles that we can't drive!!! chrysler's own mechanics admit the defect with the 2.7l engines, why won't the company acknowlege the problem. i'll tell you why......having to stand up and take responsibility for their defective engine would totally bankrupt them. not to mention tarnish the "mercedes-benz" affilitation. since hearing this i have researched this and have found thousands of people with the same problem and chrysler won't do a damn thing about it!!! my parents have been loyal chrysler owners since their first new car 40 years ago......i doubt that they will continue to be.  view

Driving along when i heard a loud pop. followed by loud popping and rattling sound when on. found out after taking it to the shop it was a spark plug that has been shot out of the head. i don't know all of the right terminology for this but was told this is a common problem for these cars. if i had known this i would have never bought a ford mustang 2000 or any other ford product. i will save all the parts for further investigation.  view

Dt*: the contact stated when the brake pedal was depressed, the brakes vibrated and pulled regardless of speed. the vehicle was taken to a service dealer, who determined that all the rotors were severely rusted. the dealer machined 3 of the rotors, and replaced one. updated 10/18/2006 -  view

I bought an evenflo embrace infant carrier for my daughter and we used it for 3 months when the red lever that lays back the handle snapped in and caused the handle to buckle and twist. my daughter thankfully was not injured but i thought i should get a new car seat so that nothing further would happen. so, i took the car seat to the place where i purchased it and they said they could only give me 17 dollars and it is a 75 dollar car seat. i just want my daughter to be safe and i want a reliable car seat.  view

While driving on a busy interstate highway, the vehicle completely lost all propulsion. after navigating across multiple lanes of moderately heavy traffic with no power, i came to a stop on the side of the road and called for assistance. once the vehicle was towed to the closest land rover dealer and the problem diagnosed, it was explained to me that the front differential had failed. i've since researched this issue and found that many other owners have experienced this problem and land rover has even issued technical bulletins regarding this repeated failure. despite that, i had never been made aware of this issue by the manufacturer despite that fact that it has been in their service department at every scheduled maintenance interval and on many other occasions for other work. in fact, it was in their shop approximately 2,000 miles prior to this failure for a number of other warranty related items and this failing mechanism was not detected/fixed despite the fact that it was likely close to failure at that point and detection of the problem is possible via nothing more than a glance at the point where the shaft and differential housing meet. i'm happy no one was injured but very disappointed this failure occurred, especially considering that it occurred 1,000 miles after the oem warranty on the vehicle expired which now makes this a financial concern for me as well.  view

My speedometer is malfunctioning. this was first pointed out by an idaho state trooper when i was pulled over with my family in the truck pulling a trailer. my speedometer read 60 but i was clocked at 79 mph. this last weekend on a trip to down i-5 in california, i was doing what thought was 70 mph but i was passing a lot of cars and when i remember the issue my tachometer read 3500 rpm which means i was doing 80 plus. then yesterday (10/22/2006) my speedometer read 10 mph when my tach indicated 2100 rpm (~62 mph), which was confirm by by wife following in another vehicle. the problem is inconsistent. the speedometer seems to work for a while but then degrades and the speed indicated does nor reflect the actual speed. between the initial occurrence and 10/20 i did not make any trips longer than 20 minutes and did not notice a problem except for a somewhat jerky speedometer needle. the speedometer seems to "reset" after the vehicle stop for a while. estimated cost of repair is $98-$105 "evaluation and $550-$600 actual repair which includes parts and labor.  view
