Air conditioning - after 100,000 miles i had to replace my air conditioning system due to leaks. now i am having problem with water leaking into my car. the replacement parts for the air conditioning are not properly made (in my opinion). there is no drain hose to the evaporator - just a lip - that is suppose to drain out onto the ground. the lip is not long enough to allow the water to dip properly. therefore, i kept getting water in my backseat floorboard.

I had a heavy pulsating of the steering column and brake pedal during routine braking i informed my dealer of this at 8500 miles and was informed this is normal. at 9,000 miles i was insistent that they look at my truck and they had to replace the front brake rotors, pads, torque member, replaced rear brake pads and machine the rear rotors, i was informed that this would need to be done about every 6,000 to 9,000 miles because the braking system is too small for a truck this size.

Check engine warning light would illuminate during normal vehicle operation and subsequent mechanical inspections could not detect the following impending problem. my family and i were returning from a weekend vacation in arizona on our way home. while driving through the middle of the desert just past the california/arizona state line i heard a loud "pop" and our vehicle lost power. we were towed back into needles, ca and it was determined that the fuel pump had failed. we were forced to stay the night in a local hotel as a new pump had to be installed in the gas tank. i have been informed that there have been numerous problems with suburban fuel pumps and some recalls have resulted from this situation. i would like to know if there is an avenue i can pursue for repair compensation as this was a costly replacement. sincerely, steve rodriguez.

Uncontrollable handling ( in the front end) when going an excess speed of 45 miles or more and hit any kind /size bump in road. found out it was the stabilizer bar. when i first took my car in (months ago) they told me ( chrysler) it was my rotors. didn't understand how my rotors could do that since i wasn't braking at the time the shaking was happening. i ended up taking it to a mechanic and they figured out what it was. the guys at chrysler have a nickname for it; "sudden death". not once did i get a recall letter about this problem. they must of been worried about it because it only took them about 2 hours to fix it. they went and bought an after market stabilizer bar. i have had oil changes from the same place that have taken longer. i had the car for about a year when i first noticed the shaking but i heard about other wranglers having the same problem. someone needs to let other jeep owners about this problem . it's very dangerous.

I just got this car at a used car lot about two weeks ago and it rained one night and the front windshield became foggy so i tried to put on the defroster and it would not work no matter where i moved the switch it would only blow the air forward so i had to pull over every little while and wipe it off just so i could get home. the next morning i took it to a mechanic and he looked at it and said the cable that controls the flow of air was broken and he tried to get one from the junk yard and said 3 out of 5 cavaliers of around the same year 2003 had the same cable broken the same way and he told me the flap that the cable controls was sticking and causing it to break so i told him to leave the same cable on the car and he put the flap to the defrost position manually in case it rains again it seems very dangerous if you cant see where you are going this is in the summer time that i am having this problem i don't even want to think about what might happen in the winter time.

I own a 2002 vw jetta. recently, the brake light has become inoperative at times and remains on even while the vehicle is not running. i have completed several searches online and have learned that there have been multiple safety recalls for 2002 jetta's exhibiting the same problem, with the potential number of units affected to be 377,130 in 2004 and 362,000 earlier this year. when i contacted the vw dealership in my area to make an appointment to have this looked at i was told that the repair would be completed free of charge as a result of the recent recall. when i arrived at the dealership on the day of the scheduled appointment i was told otherwise. the gentleman at the dealership mentioned that my vehicle did not fall in the vin range of the recall. i then called vw of america and was told on two separate occasions that indeed the repair would be covered free of charge. i then called the dealership to reschedule the appointment and was again told that i would have to pay for diagnostics to be completed on my vehicle as well as covering the charges for parts and labor. the issue remains that my brake light is malfunctioning, there has been a recall which impacts 2002 jetta's but i seem to get conflicting information from different sources. can someone help?

Car had had all applicable services and maintenance. out of warranty due to high mileage. no problems prior. noticed noise in front suspension of car. while driving in center lane of freeway on the way to the mechanic, ball joints failed and drivers side front wheel buckled under the car. miraculously, we were able to get car off of freeway with no injury or damage. understand there is an outstanding recall of 775,000 vehicles including sequoia's of our year for this problem. we called toyota who refused to pay for our repairs twice based on the vin number of our vehicle. we appealed through our dealer and were refused again by toyota. today, our mechanic informed us that he had two more sequoias with front noise that he referred to toyota dealerships. both cars had the universal joints repaired by the dealerships free. meanwhile, we had to pay more than $2,000 for repairs and have received no assistance or acknowledgement from toyota. if this problem occurred for 775,000 other vehicles including our make and model, surely our problem should be included.

New 2006 honda civic - major issue with the low idle (650) rpm instantly increasing to around 1000 rpm when the steering wheel is slightly turned, causing the car to jump ahead. you must have your foot firmly placed on the brake pedal at all times. if you remove your foot from the brake and turn the wheel, the car lurches forward. i believe this a safety concern and an annoyance. honda factory tech claims this how it is designed. according to dealer, other similar 06 civics have same condition.

While driving my 2005 toyota prius, the rear passenger wheel became so loose it was causing the car to vibrate and shake. i thought it was a flat tire, pulled off of the freeway i was driving on onto the shoulder. there was no flat, pulled off at the next exit into a garage. my husband, whom i called by cell, told me that it was a loose wheel probably. the garage mechanic raised the car in the air and the wheel was ready to fall off. he checked over the wheel, etc, re-tightened the wheel, and found that all of the wheels were loose, but none this badly. the last time the wheels were off was in april and had not been checked after that for tightness. as i looked in the owners manual it says to check them every 1000 miles or so. this is a very dangerous situation. this information should be in bold print and pointed out to every new owner the importance of checking the tightness, if this is a consistent problem. i was lucky! it scared me a lot and i am nervous when driving the car now. if this is a common problem, it needs to be addressed with emphasis!

2 years ago my cruise control went out on my 2001 ford windstar and shortly after that i noticed brake fluid leaking. one morning my wife started the van and smoke poured out from under the hood and we took it to a shop in alvin texas. they replaced a fried speed control switch. when i contacted ford they said it was not under recall and would not reimburse my losses. at the repair shop they stated it is the same switch that is under recall in the other ford products. i still have the switch and have no idea what to do next. any suggestions from the nhtsa would be greatly helpful.

A failure of the electrical wiring harness caused an engine fire in my 1991 sentra. quick action i was able to save the car from an entire loss which clearly points to where the fire started. nissan didn't want to even look at unless they charged me 89 dollars for a diagnostic test. they could answer me when asked what value that would add since i have all the wires separated and safely taped from shorting further.

I purchased my car in january of 2005 (it's a 2004 model, purchased new). i've been driving a standard shift for 8 years. starting in mid july, i began to experience problems accelerating. taking it in to the shop, i was informed the clutch had "burned out", and would need to be completely replaced. i was also informed that i "rode the clutch" which caused the failure. as my previous car, also a hyundai, had gone for more than 50,000 miles over the 6 years i owned it and never had a clutch problem, i am suspicious of this particular reason for my clutch failure.

I purchase a 2006 honda civic for my wife in oct. 2005 and from the beginning she has complained of a road noise while driving. the noise started out barely audible and has progressively gotten worse with more miles. we brought the car to two honda dealerships before it had 6000 miles on it and they told us that it was just normal tire noise. after more complaining the local dealership said it was our fault, because we did not rotate the tires frequently enough. when i pointed out to them that they balanced and rotated the tires prior to the required period outlined in the vehicle maintenance records the story changed again. the vehicle now has 19000 miles on it and the noise is horrible and the local honda dealership now says the rear two tires have separated belts due to the fact that we must have hit a pothole or road debris. i don't really understand how i could have hit a pothole or road debris with just two tires, because last time i checked the front tires were followed by the rear tires. i have also brought this car to a bridgestone dealer, which is the make of the tires, and he said the tires were cupped due to the car being out of alignment. i then called the customer support line on the tire warranty pamphlet for bridgestone and was informed that this was a vehicle issue. i am concerned that this is becoming a safety issue even though i have been assured that this will not create a problem other than being noisy. i have received no help from honda or bridgestone in this matter other than a bunch of fingerprinting and the offer to sell me new set of tires at a cost of over $600. everyone agrees that the tires have a problem and are the cause of the noise, but nobody wants to admit responsibility for a defective product.

Possible root cause: use of a 13 amp circuit breaker (too small) in a line for a part that specifies a 15 amps line. description: intermittent but frequent tripping of the circuit breaker in the 2005 airstream (dodge sprinter westfalia model) electrical line dedicated to sole use by the tappan microwave oven, when the oven first turns on or cycles on (when at power levels less than 10). the problem occurred on several different dates. supply voltage was measured in the airstream on two of these dates and found to be 120 volts ac (within specification). tappan's written requirements specify a 15a line, but the airstream's circuit breaker is rated for only 13 amps. note that airstream supplied the circuit breaker, oven and wiring in the new vehicle. possible explanation: if the microwave oven causes current surges greater than 13 amps when it first turns on and/or cycles on (at power settings less than 10), then the current would exceed the specification for the circuit breaker, causing it to trip.

Automatic sliding passenger door will close on anything in it's path. it takes way too much pressure to force the door back when it is closing on something. i've had it close on my hand (very painful) and my 5 yr old got her arm caught in it, she had a very bad bruise across the upper part of her arm. just grateful it wasn't broken. i can't believe this has not been part of a recall. seems to be a whole lot more dangerous than previous recalls. dealership really has no comment or solution when this problem is mentioned to them.

The seat belts in many of our cars do not function properly. when the seat belt is pulled on it does not retract, leaving enough slack in the belt that if an accident were to occur, it would not serve its purpose as a safety restraint. dodge stealth/3000 gt.

The clutch on my husbands 2006 jetta tdi is going out. it only has 44, 000 miles on it. he has owned six manual transmission cars in the past, never having to replace a clutch in less than 110,000 and even then it was not the clutch worn out but the throw out bearing fell apart. we have done several searches on the internet on vw tdi clutches. one thing we found out is that this is a common problem with 2005.5 and early 2006. vw of europe has issued recalls on the 2006 passat tdi only sold overseas. i believe that the same clutch was used in the early 2006 jettas. audi has issued a recall on there a3 with the tdi engine that was produced from june of 2003 till the end of 2004. on 6/24/2005 the los angeles times reports that vw is recalling 44,000 of its touran vans worldwide to fix a clutch problem. i have found several complaints on www.uk-mkiv.net where the golf and jetta are referred to as mkv or the 5th edition and on www.audi-sport.net for the audi a3 tdi and on www.tdiclub.com and http://forums.vwvortex.com. also there is a reuters news report dated june 29, 2006 that states the passat recall and makes mention of earlier recalls for the golf, golf plus, jetta and touran. vw sells far more tdi diesel cars in europe so it would be advantageous for then to issue a recall there. all of the cars that have problems have the dual mass flywheel and most are tdi diesel cars. volkswagen is blaming the owners because it does not have a large number of the tdi vehicles in the usa and has no 2007 tdi diesel cars due to emissions requirements. when many are experienced manual transmission drivers that have not had clutch problems with other vehicles. while the foreign cars are not exactly the same most share many common parts from the same manufacturers.
