I applied brake & made right turn into parking space. i then applied more pressure to brake to stop car. car did not stop, but continued to move forward as if i had not applied more pressure to brake. realizing i may hit curb, i pushed brake peddle down hard, & added left foot to brake pedal along with right foot. brake pedal lost all resistance, & my feet went down to the floor. car accelerated forward & crashed into cement steps. car was towed to jag authorized body shop, then towed to dealer for diagnosis. dealer sent computer readout to jaguar engineers to analyze. they could not "find" the problem, so jaguar told me that there is no problem! just because jaguar could not "find" the problem, does not mean there is no problem! jaguar will not disclose to either myself or dealer what parts were tested or results of tests. jaguar just says car conforms to manufacturer specifications. jaguar refuses to put in writing that this car is safe to drive. another indication of a malfunction is that 5 days before the accident i re- leased this 2003 car. dealer looked at the mileage on it and wrote it on the lease. then 5 days later when it crashed & got towed to the body shop, the body shop wrote down the mileage upon arrival. ( car was not able to be driven). my insurance appraiser and their investigator also wrote down that same mileage number. the odometer had registered 440 miles more than on the date of the lease, yet i had actually only driven it a maximum of 100 miles! dealer & jaguar said they have no way to diagnose this & put blame on clerical error. no clerical error could explain 440 miles! jaguar cannot explain this, so they ignored i!. they can't explain why the car did not stop and accelerated, so they blame that on driver error! noticing so many other complaints from jaguar owners on your web-site for the very same thing. i believe there is a very serious safety issue that jaguar refuses to acknowledge and can't fix!

I purchased my 2000 ford focus in 2001 and feel as if i have spent more time in the shop for recalls and repairs than i have driving it. in march 2003, i was driving 65 mph on the highway when the car died without warning. i was barely able to make it safely to the shoulder and required a tow to the dealership. they fixed the problem which was apparently related to the recall for the fuel delivery module. the car ran fine until recently when it again began to hesitate, surge, and stall (especially if the air conditioner is on, which i now cannot run and i live in tennessee where the temperatures are regularly in the 80's and 90's). i took the car to the ford dealership yesterday and told them i am having the same problem i had before when the recall was apparently fixed. they said to come back the next day and they would look at it but it would not be covered under the recall or warranty because it was already fixed once and it's only guaranteed for 12 months. this car is a lemon if there ever was one. i will never again purchase an american-made car if they are able to get away with ripping off consumers the way they do.

I am experiencing a major problem with my vehicle, 2002 jeep grand cherokee overland (manufacture date 10/01). nhtsa campaign id number 01v374000 clearly effects my vehicle, as i am experiencing the exact problem associated with that recall, however, daimler/chrysler refuses to honor the recall, claiming my vehicle is unaffected. if i fill the vehicle completely (until automatic shutoff), all the fuel in the filler neck leaks to the ground. if i fill the vehicle less than full (not up to the filler neck) no leakage. it is clearly the fuel inlet check valve and am clearly affected. not only is this a safety issue, which is main concern, but also a waste of fuel (and expense)and damage to the environment. in speaking with the representative at daimler/chrysler, they flatly refuse to honor the recall, claiming it is a warranty item, however, because it is out of warranty, i am responsible.

I am the owner of a 2000 toyota tundra with dangerous pulsating, vibrating front disc brakes. i first brought this problem to the attention of my dealer on july 31, 2002. the vehicle had 12,894 miles at the time. the warped front rotors were resurfaced and the brake pads replaced. neither the front rotors nor the calipers were replaced. i was informed at the time that the maximum amount had been machined off the rotors. the problem quickly reappeared and has gradually worsened over the last 16,000 miles. the car is driven very lightly and has towed a horse trailer for approximately 200-300 miles. today the truck has 28, 600 miles and is very dangerous to drive on any road, but particularly dangerous on longer downhill grades. i brought this to the attention of the dealership early in june 2006 when i had defective oxygen sensors replaced. they checked for recall notices and found none. curiously, they did not notify me of the technical service bulletin issued in september of 2003. basically, they said it would cost me a lot of money to have them repaired. in light of the fact that this problem results from defective front brakes, and this defect existed at the time the vehicle left toyota's possession, i asked toyota to properly repair the brakes before serious property damage or personal injury occurs. toyota responded to my request on june 15, 2006 as follows: "we have checked your vehicle identification number (vin#) and there are no outstanding special service campaigns on your vehicle at this time. the warranty for your braking system (excluding wear items) is 3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first, from the date of first use for your vehicle. based on the vin (vehicle identification number) you provided. your warranty coverage started on 3/15/2000. your vehicle is currently outside these warranty parameters and we are unable to assist with the cost of this repair."

The left rear tire blew out on the 1996 roadtrek 210 popular . on december 20, 2001 the blowout tore off the muffler, tail pipe and fender shirt. on november 20, 2003 the rubber valve stem exploded after the low tire was aired up to recommended psi. a new rubber high pressure valve stem was installed. an attendant alerted the consumer of the sharp edges on the wheel cover hole where the valve stem stick through. he installed a heavy rubber hose over each valve stem. on april 31, 2006 the consumer noticed that the left rear tire looked low. the vehicle was taken to a service station and an attendant began putting air in the tire. at that time he noticed that the air was escaping from the valve stem. the wheel had cut through the rubber hose and valve stem. the insulation on the backside of the starter cable was gone. apparently road vibration over the years had worn off the insulation. the 12 volt hot wire was exposed and sparking on insulation material, screw heads or any ground it could find. the fuel supply line to the generator ran parallel to the hot wire. the fuel line was also rubbed flat on one side. the consumer replaced the fuel line and used black plastic electrician pipe to seal the starter cable.

I have a 2005 toyota sienna van that has intermittent brake failure. it normally occurs when the car is cold. i have run several red lights with the brake pedal pressed completely to the floor and my wife has driven through two yards. the brakes function normally on the first several applications but on the third or fourth application they will occasionally fail. my dealership has replaced the master cylinder and done "diagnostics" at least 8 different times but consistently find nothing. they did tell me that other vehicles were experiencing the same sorts of problem and it had something to do with a new valve timing on the 2005 model and the vacuum was insufficient until the car was warm and that i should idle for 5 minutes before driving. this seems to work more consistently but i still have episodes of poor braking. we have been attempting to have this resolved for almost 18 months.

I have now replaced the front brakes and rotors 3 times since buying this 2000 ford expedition in late 2000. i was informed by a former service manager from ford that this defect is known and wide spread. what he explained to me that they received a large lot of front right brake lines that were to small or concluded enough so as not to let the caliper completely release the pads from the rotor causing failure of both in as little as 15000 miles. there is a cover up and people are probably having accidents due to this defect. i will never buy another ford. we also had the leaking windshield over the drivers side that would leak into the electrical boards in the dash causing the lights to go out/the radio to go off and on by itself. the worst was it trying to start with no key or person in the vehicle and ruining the starter and the battery. do not buy this vehicle!!!!!!!!!!!!! because ford still lies that these are not their problems.

My car was rear ended by a large pickup on the freeway. immediately on impact the driver's side seat back went into a reclined position. therefore, the only safety device operational was the lap belt as the shoulder belt and head rest depend on the seat back to be of any use and the airbag only deploys in a front end crash. this led to my upper body being jerked all over the front of the car. dodge's response is that the seat back is supposed to do this in a rear end crash. i find this rather incredible as that leaves only the lap belt functional.

At about 40,000 miles, a knocking sound began to be audible when turning the vehicle in both directions. i am not aware of any precipitating incident; no collisions or hard contact with curbing, pot holes, etc.. the knock could also be felt as a slight jerk in the steering wheel. there was (and still is) no noticeable difficulty controlling the car. the noise and slight jerk in the steering wheel gradually worsened with time, and the car was just beyond the general warranty period when the problem was reported to the dealer. diagnosis by the dealer was "bad steering column; needs to be replaced". as it was not considered a drive train component, there was no warranty coverage. the cost would have been about $1000 at the time. no repair has yet been done.

I downloaded nhtsa campaign id number 00v246111, which refers to a defect in the steering linkage on my 1999 winnebago motor home which is built on a 1999 ford heavy duty chassis. i have contacted two local ford dealers, ford's national customer service line, ford's truck customer service line, and winnebago industries service departments. they all claim that no such problem exists, and no technical service bulletins or recalls have ever been issued. the person taking my original complaint filed by phone (nhtsa odi#10160922) mis-characterized the nature of the complaint. ford and winnebago do not claim that it doesn't apply to my particular vehicle by year or vin, rather that no such problem does or did exist on ford's heavy duty truck chassis, for 1999, 2000, or any other model years. they claim to have no knowledge of nhtsa campaign id #00v246111. failure of the described parts would result in complete loss of steering control in a 22,000lb vehicle in which i and my family were riding, probably at highway speeds. ford motor company and winnebago industries have refused to give any consideration to my requests for corrective action to the vehicle. several calls to nhtsa have resulted in the advice that i file this complaint on-line, and then take it up with the manufacturer.

Purchased this 2002 malibu used from local chevy dealer. first incident, after a brief stop at a gas station the car wouldn't restart. turned over but no fire. had it towed to a repair shop who informed me that the theft-deterrent system was stopping the car from starting. they explained that only a dealer can process or recycle this problem. they did a temporary "recycle" of the system and the car started back up. i planned to take the car to the dealer within the next couple of weeks to follow up, but then it happened again, at a store, cranked no fire, theft light flashing, same exact symptoms. i was told at the repair shop that this is a chronic problem with these models. they charged me $70.00 for the diagnostic time spent, and i was thankful that the car would at least start. now it's stuck in a parking lot across town and i can't even get it towed (no tow coverage). my fear is this happening repeatedly. first event was on june 19, second on june 30. i am curious about all the different "tricks" i am hearing about to bypass the system and get the car to start. one said i should turn the steering wheel quickly side to side while applying my foot to the accelerator, and turn the ignition, another said to try switching keys, (which i did try but it didn't work). any other ideas would be greatly appreciated! if i could get it to start then i could at least get it to the dealer - i am a single mom, very broke, no resources to fall back on for this repeat event so soon. i haven't even mentioned the constant burned out brake lights- i replace the bulbs and they blow within a couple of days...no visible electrical line damage, either...

I was driving on i 95 in florida for about 12 miles when my rear passenger tire blew out. apparently what happened was the side walls of the tire separated from the tread. this was a new 2006 mitsubishi eclipse with goodyear eagle rsa 17 inch tires. the tire had only 6700 miles. thank god it was my rear tire and not my front, because actually nothing happened to me. if it was my front i would not be here writing this. when i went to goodyear they told me it was a blow out. if it would have been a blow out there would be no more tire. the tread was still intact, but the side wall just separated. many people now have told me that this was a tire defect and not a blow out. goodyear gave me a new tire at a discount.

Vehicle has a brake pulsation and had a brake squeak. this has been going on since vehicle was purchased in 10-03. vehicle was returned to dealership while under warranty. they replaced the brake pads and resurfaced the rotors. this did not eliminate the pulsation but did eliminate the squeak. the transmission bangs into gear and has a long delay going from park into reverse. this is an ongoing problem. the vehicle has been returned to the dealer more than 10 times. they claimed they could not duplicate the problem. this is after telling us they felt something but did not know what it was. engine stalls and runs rough. this is intermittent and dealer could not duplicate it. i have spoken with several transmission shops and they have stated that there is a fix for the transmission problem. chrysler will not perform the repair. they did agree to install the necessary parts if i purchased them but then this would void my warranty. and why should i pay for a repair that should be covered under my warranty??

I have a 1999 kia sportage with less than 35,000 miles on it as of july 5, 2006. in november of 2005 i started noticing a really strong fuel smell. shortly thereafter i noticed fluid leaking from the rear of my vehicle. i took it in around thanksgiving to find out that the gas tank had to be replaced. i had to pay almost $1,000 for this repair. also, in may of 2006 power steering fluid leaked all over my garage while the car was in summer storage. upon further investigation it is due to the power steering pressure hose damping pipe rusting out. this car has also already have to get new front brake rotors (rusted/warped) as well as a new exhaust pipe since the previously one rusted off the muffler. within the first couple years one of the bearings went bad and they ended up replacing the whole front axle unit. this car has had many problems and with less than 35,000 miles on it basically makes me sick to my stomach. i am reporting this to you after reading on www.kia.com technical/owners section about a "service campaign" for the leaking fuel tanks in may 2006. nobody has notified me and i just happened to run into myself as i was researching information related to the power steering system since that started leaking in may 2006.

This is not something specific to just my car but is what i consider a fault for the whole car model. my complaint is that the headlight is hard-wired on. that's ok, but poses a problem at night as one can see that the headlight is on, not realizing that the taillights are not on. you start the car and drive off not realizing that the back of the car is not visible. there is no alert (such as no or dimmed dashboard lights) to let you know that the back of the car cannot be seen in the dark. not only have i made this mistake many times, but i have also noticed other drivers of my car make and model doing the same thing. i think this is a safety hazard and could be remedied by having the taillights be hard-wired as well or by having no dash lights unless the actual headlights are turned on.

Steering tie rods and front suspension are worn out on vw passat making steering very inaccurate and in a state of constant steering input to maintain straight direction of vehicle. afraid this will lead to an accident. car has only 82,000 miles on it and this is the first time i have ever heard of such complete impending failure of a front suspension. i understand that this is common in passats. it seems to me this is a design flaw that should be corrected.

Dt*: the contact stated while traveling on the highway at 60 mph, suddenly control of the vehicle was lost. the contact thought the vehicle's tire blew out, because both rear tires began wobbling. the vehicle was traveling on a normal flat surface at the time of the incident. the failure occurred under normal driving conditions, and was driven about 20 miles to the contact's residence. two weeks prior to the incident, the contact observed a low grade deep drum noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection prior to the incident and the dealer notified the contact that both rear bearings were wearing out and needed to be replaced. after the incident, the vehicle was inspected and determined that both bearings were shot and the rear driver spring was broken. both rear bearings and the rear driver spring are permanently damaged and must be replaced.

We had a recall for the ball joints of our 2002 jeep liberty. it took nearly 2 years to get them replaced. they were damaged by the time i did and i had to get a temporary repair on them while we waited for the parts. they were repaired at the end of february early march of this year. at the end of may i noticed a similar noise to what i had been hearing when the original ball joints had made before they were replace. as it turned out they had gone bad already. it seems that the new ball joints are defective too. i have had some out of pocket expenses for this issue and i am not happy at how i have been dealt with by the dealer and daimler chrysler. i sent a complaint to daimler and their response was that they were sorry i was not satisfied with my vehicle and would file it in a consumer survey file. i am not unhappy with the vehicle. i am unhappy with how hard it has been to get this recall issue fixed and having to pay for service on the ball joints. i purchased the vehicle from glenn e thomas dodge. the customer service rep with daimler was a woman named alison. my vehicle has been out of use this time for over a month before the final repairs were made.
