Driver side rear spring coil broke, puncturing my tire and almost causing an accident. called dealership. my extended warranty had just expired march 10, 2006. today is march 13th 2006. the spring coil malfunctioned march 12th 2006. they want to charge $475.00. i believe this should be a recall issue.  view

Dt*: the contact stated while parked in a driveway, the power steering and brakes failed. as a result, the contact had no power steering or brakes. the failure was discovered from fluid leaking underneath the vehicle. it was towed to the dealership for repairs.  view

Dt*: the contact stated, intermittently, while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stops and then collapses to the ground. the vehicle was towed to the dealership each time. the strut assembly was replaced, the axle calibrated, and the wheels aligned. these efforts have not repaired the vehicle. while the vehicle was in park, there was a loud bang, then smoke coming from the engine compartment. the dealership determined the suspension exploded, but are not aware how to repair the vehicle.  view

I took delivery of my 2004 vw touareg on 7-11-04. by 9-9-04 it was having problems. it has been in 6 times for electrical problems, 3 times for the ac, 3 times for the battery, and 1-2 times for other things. tomorrow, i will be taking it in again for further a/c problems, brakes that catch on their own while in drive, intermittent faulty triggering of tire pressure monitoring system, and a hole that i discovered only day in the fire blanket under the hood. apparently the engine heat has been burning a hole in it and has burned away a hole right through the blanket to the hood itself, but not through the hood yet. this car has meant time lost from work and an inordinate amount of time spent in the shop and paying for rental cars. this car is a fire and safety hazard. fairfax county consumer protection (roy seger) had contacted vw as this car falls under the lemon law. vw responded that they would not comply, stating that they had fixed the battery. their response failed to account for the multitude of other problems...and now this. i have never felt so powerless. is there anything you can do to help??  view

Dt*: the contact stated while driving in normal conditions, the vehicle pulls to the left or right. the vehicle was taken to the local independent repair shop for alignment. the repair personnel discovered the upper and lower ball joints needed to be replaced on the front of the vehicle. both the upper and lower ball joints were replaced after the first incident. the problem returned two additional times, but only the lower ball joints were replaced during these incidents. updated 3/9/2006 -  view

Dt*: the contact stated shortly after purchase it was discovered the dash panel gauges such as the tachometer and the speedometer were poorly lighted and made visibility limited. the vehicle was seen by a dealer. contrary to the manufacturer's design, the dealer rewired the dash panel lighting and bypassed the dash dimmer switch so the lighting illuminated at the brightest possible level. as a result, the dash panel lights could not be dimmed. updated 03/09/06  view

Dt*: the contact stated while driving 40 mph, the engine made a popping noise without warning. the vehicle was pulled over and upon inspection, the contact found a spark plug on the engine. the vehicle was driven to the dealership. the dealership determined the spark plug blew out of the engine head. a new engine head was installed. updated 03/09/06.  view
