1997 INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER 4700 User Comment / Complaint

Dt*: the contact stated the rear control arm fractured. it was driven on the faulty control arm to an independent repair shop. the vehicle was inspected by the mechanic and repaired. it was taken for state inspection and failed due the inner tie rods needing replaced. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection or repairs.  view

While driving the vehicle at any speed it loses power and stalls. there is a strong odor of gasoline, but no indication of a fuel leak. the vehicle immediately starts back, but still has no power to accelerate to drive the vehicle. there are no specific weather conditions that contribute to the loss of power and/or stalling. the vehicle is waited to be towed to a local mechanic. there has not been a diagnosis at this time.  view

Awful, awful safety hazard on my 2003 trailblazer!!!!!the hatch back/lift gate won't open - tailgate window explodes in the mechanics face knocking him to the ground. representatives from gm and from the dealership deny that this has happened in any other 2003 trailblazers. that is a lie!!!! see other complaints on this very website. complaint #10121982, also complaint #10150063, and complaint #10075392. then check out complaint #10038988, #10075392 and #10061979 regarding the hatchback tailgate breakdowns. complaint #10121982 tells of a child that is injured by the exploding glass in the tailgate. remember the double sided tape that the dealership tells me that gm uses to hold on the high mount stop light and trim??? in complaint #10038988 the complainant was also told about the double sided tape. are you investigating this problem????? i am driving a very unsafe car and i will fight until i get some action. i have been without a car now for 10 days. the dealership insisted that we turn this claim into my insurance. $2,650 claim for what the dealership said would cost $25. the dealers body shop also explained that the high mount stop light and trim are attached with double face tape and if they come loose they bind inside the hatchback. i don't feel it is my insurance company's responsibility to pay for something the dealer caused. this is a very dangerous problem created by cheverolet's poor design. why haven't they done a recall on this. there are numerous other complaints about the same hatchback failure. the glass could explode on me on my grandkids or another mechanic. i will be nervous everytime i open that hatchback and i will never, never buy a general motors car again. the dealership treated my husband and i terribly. they knew they had the upper hand in the situation and they knew there was nothing we could do.  view

Clutch started to slip while driving at low rpms at 39000 miles. then progressively got worse to where it would slip in 6th gear. i had to replace my clutch with a new one that all in all cost me 1700 dollars. i replaced the clutch, throwout bearing, and flywheel. i do have the old parts if you would need them.  view

My car rode low to the ground. i noticed i was lower than other cars. finally, when pulling out of a parking lot one day, i noticed the rear part of my car made odd sounds. i determined my rear spring broke. i had to get my car towed and the springs replaced.  view

Dt*: the contact stated while driving 65mph, the brakes appeared spongy. upon inspection by the contact, it was discovered the clamp that holds the brake line to the structure had rusted. as a result, the brake line began leaking. the vehicle is currently at the dealer for repair.  view

I had originally entered this complaint under 2005 pontiac grand am but the car is actually a 2005 pontiac grand prix. see original complaint and please relist it correctly under steering complaints. thank you for your time and attention to this matter component: vehicle speed control 10051575 details: dt: the consumer experienced sudden acceleration. as a result, she crashed into her apartment. the gas meters were destroyed and electrical wires were cut. the speed was no more than 5-10 mph. when she hit the brake the car went out of control. the vehicle was a rental car. since this incident the car was checked out by the rental car company's repair shop and no defect was found. i contacted pontiac and general motors corporation and they claimed ignorance of the fact that this is happening to other similar vehicles. i have been charged $5,000 in damages by the rental car company for a car valued at $9,000 and $3,500 by the apartment complex for repair of the apartment. but i could have died from the impact when the air bag never deployed. cause: result: occurrences: 1 injuries: 0 fail date: 07/12/2005 deaths: 0 date added to database: 7/13/2005  view

Today i was driving my vehicle at a speed of about 50 mph. i was coming upon a intersection and the light had just turned red. there were other vehicles traveling along the road in the same and opposite direction as i was. there were two lanes in each direction. approximately 2 vehicles in front of me coming up to the light. as i began to stop my brakes completely failed. i tried pumping them, but got very little help from my brakes. thinking quickly i moved into the second lane, that had no other vehicles. however it was very close for me to have rear ended the driver in front of me. i was traveling with my two children. i thought may be my brakes were wet. so i continued driving, but was cautious. as i came up to the next opportunity to stop, i encountered the same problem. however this time, smoke came billowing from my hood. i had about 3 more miles to make it home, so i continued home and there was no accident. however my husband inspected my vehicle and said that the brake line was burnt by the catalytic converter. he said it looked as if they brake line was installed to close to the converter. he felt this was a hazard. this incident could have turned out very differently, had i had hit another driver. luckily we were safe and now have the opportunity to fix this manufacturing defect. i hope chrysler recognizes this defect and notifies other owners, as people could be seriously hurt without brakes!!  view

Vehicle was hit by a semi-truck on driver side throwing drivers head and body into side door/glass windows. no air bags deployed! car was severely damaged and was repaired by farmers insurance repair. air bags were not replaced!!!! driver suffered upper body trauma, particularly rib cage. total air bag failure.  view
