I bought a 2005 dodge durango in june 2005. the first 9000 miles were great. no problems. in october 2005 the headlights/fog lights started to go on and off by themselves. the dealership moved the inspections sticker. did not resolve the problem. they then replaced the sensors and switched, did not correct the problem, they then replaced the circuit board, did not correct. they then had a tech from the factory look at the vehicle. they replaced the module. i picked up the car yesterday and on my way home from the dealer the lights went on and off again. i have sent the lemon law card to chrysler. i contacted chrysler again today about this issue. they basically have stated that it is up to the district manager to resolve this problem. i am waiting once again for him to call me back. the horn also blows by itself (this has happened twice), the radio has turned itself on and off by itself twice, the passenger side airbag light has came on when it should not and the drivers side airbag showed that it had deployed when in fact it did not. the outside temperature gauge on the overhead console did not work correctly (only one time.) i feel that i have been more then patient with these recurring problems. they have put a co-pilot on the car to no avail.

I purchased a new trooper in 1999 and did every required maintenance on time at a authorize isuzu dealer. after the 5 year 60,000 mile warranty was up we started taking it to a reputable national oil change company. we never had any indication it was using oil at an abnormal rate. it was not leaking oil, it was not burning oil and the oil light was not coming on. one day the oil light came on and my wife immediately pulled over and we added oil. it would run rough and took it to a mechanic who did some maintenance work. i had not totally wrecked the engine. i got it driving good for about $2,000 and hoped this had fixed the problem. we added and check the oil every 500 miles. two months later the engine seized and i am now told i need a new engine. after searching the internet i have found many others have had this engine oil problem. estimated costs to replace the engine are $4k-$6k which is about blue book for the trooper and now i would have no confidence in putting a 1999 engine with known problems in as a replacement.

2005 gmc sierra slt vin #1gtek19b25z238042 i drove the truck 237 miles home and noticed it was not operating properly. i called gmc to resolve the problems. the truck has binding in the front axles, brakes, or differential. this causes the truck to understeer heavily as the truck works to turn the front wheels over the road surface. this also makes the truck difficult to steer, u turns are especially a problem, the truck has sluggish acceleration and stays longer in the lower gears. the rear tires are prone to lose traction due to the increased rolling resistance from the front wheels, braking performance is compromised, the truck will sway back and forth at highway speeds as the rolling resistance of the front wheels varies from side to side. the truck tends to pull to the left, and the suspension is always preloaded from the additional stress. the engine labors to maintain speed on level ground with the vehicle unloaded. on occasion the front wheels will hop off the pavement as it is easier for them to compress the suspension/torsion bars than be turned over the road. it is difficult to maintain a straight line with the truck since the front wheels tend to follow the contours of the road. the front wheel assemblies make a low frequency sound when driving. the transmission, engine, and drivetrain components are always loaded and driving on snow or ice would be treacherous since the front wheels would stop turning on the low friction surface. driving in the rain is bad enough and the rear wheels tend to break loose. the transmission has behaved strangely, stuttering on occasion as it tried to find the proper gear, it has slipped or freewheeled as i went to accelerate from a stop. the wrong oil filter was installed, the air cleaner is loose and rattles in the engine compartment. the power steering provides little or no assist and requires more effort than i have ever experienced from a vehicle that is supposed to have power steering.
