Dt: the contact stated the horn stopped working. the vehicle was taken to a dealership, and they stated the horn module went out. the airbag would have to be replaced to repair the problem. therefore, no repairs have been made.  view

Dt: ford 2002 escape caught on fire. the fire was coming from the front driver's side dash engine compartment. this happened on july 27, 2005. the fire department and police department responded to the scene. the fire was contained in the vehicle. the walls in the garage had heavy smoke damage. they had to cut the garage door to get in. the consumer can't sleep in the house due to the smoke damage. phone interview update (november 7, 2005): drove the vehicle for two hours. the vehicle was parked in the town house garage for an hour before it caught fire. the vehicle was totaled. the heaviest damage was at the drive side firewall area. the yellow engine warning light was on three weeks ago; the dealer said bring the vehicle in when the next oil change is due.  view

I started the ignition of my 1996 honda accord ex and the passenger airbag deployed unexpectedly. the explosion was very loud and cracked the windshield of the car. i was not moving at the time. the car was still in park with the brake on. i got very scared.  view

It appears that gm's claim that it completed the turn signal and hazard warning switch is not entirely accurate. my signal warning relay, situated in the hazard warning system, hasn't stopped clacking for nearly two years. perhaps it is the one that slipped through the crack. the problem is ongoing (not resolved).  view

Wipers stopped working in the middle of the windshield and will not go back to their parked position.  view

Dt: the contact stated while driving the tire on the left rear side blew out. she experienced a blow out with the same type of tire twice. these were the original tires when the vehicle was purchased. she did not have tire information available at this time. she contacted the dealership and the manufacturer. they have a history report on the vehicle.  view

The abs warning light will come on after driving for a period of time, or will not come on at all, or will stay on all the time. dealership has quoted repair estimate of $1700 to replace module. they advised that this should be recalled as they are seeing more of these come in with about the same mileage, just out of warranty. technical bulletin has been issued for this repair.  view

Report problem with the braking system of my toyota tacoma (2000). the initial problem as defined: as i begin a trip, the brakes operate correctly. the abs system light is not illuminated. frequently, when applying the brakes at any given time during a single trip (usually at speeds of 5 to 25 miles per hour), the brake pedal feels as if it is skipping, there is a clunking noise coming from the front of the vehicle, and the vehicle does not slow down as expected, until i pump the brake pedal several times. at that point, the abs light comes on and there are no more problems braking for the remainder of that single trip. at the time of service, i was informed that there was an issue with the abs and that there were two parts which need to be replaced: left side front speed sensor at a cost of $255.43 abs actuator at a cost of $1207 labor $240 since the vehicle only has 66k miles and there was no chance that driver error could have caused these parts to be faulty, i requested the dealer elevate this problem the toyota area representative for cost coverage of repairs. this request was declined without explanation. the dealer's stand was that the vehicle is out of warranty. my stand is that each time this happens, i can't be certain of my stopping distance which makes my vehicle vulnerable to strike a another car in the rear. the first time this happened, it was extremely scary to say the least. i was fortunate to not have another vehicle in front of me. to respond to the dealers point, even if my vehicle was under warranty, had there been a car in front of me, personal injury to myself or passengers in the other vehicle could have been eminent.  view

For about 2 years now,we have been having problems with our 2001 pontiac grand am. there is some type of a short in the electrical system, causing the trunk release actuator to operate by itself,every time the driver side door is pened. also ,the "automatic-on "dash lights, headlights, marker lights and so-on- sometimes will not turn on immediately,when the parking brake is lowered. i would like to know if an investigation could be opened for these problems; because they are safety related issues,and there may be many other people being affected with these same problems-with their 2001 grand am's. i believe pontiac should be made to be accountable for these issues,since the american public is trusting them to provide safe cars. this should not be something that is limited to a warranty, since it involves a safety issue, in which the lights could stop functioning while driving or the trunk could release( by itself) while driving. thank you.  view

Weld attaching right upper control arm mounts to frame cracked completely through. i am original owner. vehicle never in crash or modified in any way. discovered while searching for cause of sudden play in steering. not yet repaired. this defect could lead to complete failure of right front suspension and steering.  view
