1994 GMC G25 User Comment / Complaint

2001 pontiac grand am. continuous rapid clicking noise from dash caused by short circuit in multi-function switch creating a major distraction while driving and could lead to an accident if happened unexpectedly. had this problem repaired twice already (07/23/2003, 11/14/2004) and needs to be repaired a third time (10/18/2005) . each repair replaced the multi-function switch with new parts and cost about $250. suspect some kind of manufacturing defect for this problem to be recurring so many times after being repaired.  view

Tread separation on carlisle trailer tires. size st175/80r-13, load range c. both tires purchased 06/20/2002. first tire failed 08/21/2005 while travel 65 mph on i-16 south of macon ga. second failure occurred 10/10/2005 on i-95 south of jacksonville fl. traveling 65 mph. tires gave little to no warning prior to total tread separation, second incident damaged fender on right side of trailer. dot numbers: dbjuh1z1502 load range c, 1360 lbs rating, gvw of trailer is 2350 with approx. 10% of load on trailer hitch.  view

1999 mercury sable ls vin - 1mefm53s5xg600392 car was bought new from copper country ford 12/16/98 warranty - 36,000 miles / 6 years ----------------------------------------------- at approx 36,095 miles oct 2004 i had to replace the rack and pinion steering. seeing as how i was over the warranty, i called the ford mo. co and asked if there was anything they would do. town & country ford (local ford dealer in my town) said they would charge me for the labor only. april 11, 2005 with approx 38,000 miles it started to leak oil. i took it to town & country and they said it needed a new oil pan gasket. they repaired it at my expense. approx a month later, it was leaking again. took it in, and they said they fixed it... oil pan gasket needed some tweeking, so they said. i took it to have its normal 3000 mi oil check days later, and the man who looked at my engine said the fan belt was shredded, and could not believe someone was working on my engine days prior and did not fix it or tell me about it. i had the fan belt replaced. oct 13, 2005 my car is still leaking oil. i took it to town & country ford, and now they tell me i need a new engine.....because the block is cracked. i asked if maybe the oil leak that had started in april may have been due to the cracked block, to which i never got an answer. when i asked why the block was cracked, the answer i got was "its made of aluminum, and sometimes these things happen." current mileage is approx 40,000. i just called the ford motor co and they said there are no programs associated with this car to help me and that there is nothing they can do. i realize that im over mileage, and that im over the warranty....but i have replaced the rack and pinion and now i have to replace the engine? kathleen donovan #99 w-8079 s us 2/141 iron mountain, mi 49801, 906.779.1191, 906.396.8209.  view

(1) can happen anytime without warning. may go for weeks, days, or minutes before recurring. (2)engine shuts off while driving. must shift into neutral to restart. not easy to do when doing 65 mph on rt 30, to suddenly have no power or power steering and a semi is on your tail. it has happened at least 20 times since the first time in wet, dry, fast slow, or idle. (3) 1st time wiggle wires. it would not happen in the shop. replaced fuse box, we refuse to drive the car again due to fear for our lives. since there is no warning and it can be weeks between happenings you can't prepare for it.  view

The abs light is on in my 1998 gmc jimmy. i have heard about a recall about this particular item, but my truck isn't qualified for it. i'm wondering why and if there is anything i can do to get it to. there is something with the sensor and corroding in the recall. i believe that may be my problem. i haven't fixed it yet because i was hoping it would be under the recall. what happens is if the light were to come off, my brakes lock up. in the recall, it mentions that this sensor getting corroded causes slow traffic accidents. i haven't gotten into any accidents, but i would like to know if it would be under the recall before i have to spend the money to get it fixed.  view

Dt: the contact received recall 5v379000 concerning the abs sensors on 2001 chevrolet silverado on 10-17-05. the contact had the rear brakes, pads and rotors replaced in december 2004 at a cost of $300.00. the truck had approximately 42,000 miles on it. the brake shop service man told the contact the rear brakes had not reached the sensors at the time he had them replaced in 12-2004. the contact talked to a dealer, who told him they would honor the part of the recall about the cleaning of the sensors. the contact would like to be reimbursed for the $300.00 he paid back in 12-04.  view

My door locks will not open with the remote key leaving exits unavailable for entry by emergency workers in case of a rollover or accident. the left passenger & rear doors stopped working 11/6/03. they finally repaired the passenger door 2/28/04; they couldn't duplicate the rear door. the rear door has opened intermittently since then. 2/24/04 now the right front & passenger doors don't open; they said they couldn't duplicate it and they haven't worked since.  view

Threads on the rear cooper tire of my pickup truck came off the tire while driving on the expressway. the threads scattered all over the road and the cars and truck in back of me had to slow down to avoid the debris. the complete side of my pickup had to be replaced. this " load range e "tire still had all of the air in it when i changed it. i sent the tire back to cooper tire company at their expense along with pictures of the damage to my truck. cooper inspected the tire and determined the air pressure had been low, apparently for some time, and denied my claim. this load range e tire has a maximum inflation of 80 psi. the firestone / bridgestone - ford court case apparently has given tire manufacturers a green light to manufacture defective tires and any problems associated with these tires are blamed on the consumer not keeping the tire pressure at maximum psi.  view

Car has on numerous occasion lost complete power and will basically just idle. this has happened both will starting from a dead stop as well as at highway speeds. this on several occasions has almost resulted in accidents due to high traffic volume at the time of failure. car is currently at shop for repair with estimate over $1000.  view

(1) driving normally down the road, suddenly (2) the car had no power (could not accelerate, it felt like the power steering and power brakes were gone), but the engine appeared to be running (i could step on the accelerator pedal and change the engine rpms), but didn't generate any power (improper air/fuel ratio?). once i took my foot off the accelerator, the engine stalled. (3) i pulled over to the side of the road and turned the car off. if i started the car normally, it would turn over, but not start--it acted like it was flooded. however, by stomping hard on the accelerator pedal while starting the car allowed it to start normally and i could continue. this happened a total of 5 times during approximately 50 minutes of driving in 3 different segments. i have subsequently parked the car and have not driven it since. i was very lucky, as the situations in which the car exhibited this problem allowed me to safely get off the road. i can imagine many situations in which i would have been in an accident, hence i have stopped driving the car.  view
