(1) driving on a two lane curvy mountainous road passing a logging truck. (2) car engine failed resulting in no power, no stearing control and no brakes. there was no prior warning such as lights or messages on the instrument console. the logging truck narrowly missed us as did the oncoming traffic. we were very close to being killed or seriously injured. (3) the failure was the engine mass air flow (maf) sensor resulting in shut down of the engine.

Dt: the contact owns a 2004 nissan armada 4 wheel drive. the contact complained about a brake problem, especially the front brakes. he has already decided that it was the front brakes because he could not stop the vehicle. . also, brake rotors warped and faded. there was 14,000 miles on the vehicle, and he has been having this problem since purchasing the vehicle. he refused to let his wife or family drive the vehicle because it was unsafe. at first he thought this problem was caused by the disc brakes, pads, and the rotors that rusted, but afterwards he decided that this was caused the vehicle sitting on the lot. but since the problem became progressively worse when braking hard at highway speeds. the brakes will shutter and fade. this vehicle was made with the highest towing package and when towing something he felt like he was going to crash with this vehicle because it got so worse. he contacted a dealership and spoke with the manufacturer. the dealership told him that they were going to replace the brakes by a by owner basis but had no plans in making this a recall. there has almost been several accidents with this problem. he retired from the sheriff' s department and has been to professional driving school. therefore, the contact did know how vehicles were suppose to be handled.

Dt: the consumer states that 2003 chevrolet c 2500 was having a message on the instrument panel showing reduced engine power. then, the engine immediately dropped power. the speed will dramatically slow to around 15 mph. this happened 5 times currently. there have been several near misses as a result of the power reduction. the vehicle has been in the dealership 5 times for the engine power failure. the dealer replaced three times the wiring harness to the throttle position sensor, throttle body, power train control module, throttle actuator, control module, also, the ignition switch was replaced and the engine was still losing power. the manufacturer has been contacted, and the customer service department was very unwilling to help or provide the address to the regional office. the customer service representative was very rude and refused to transfer the call to his supervisor upon request of the consumer.

When removing driver-side half of third row seat, die-cast metal hook-and-latch that is intneded to secure seat to the the vehicle snapped/sheared from seat. concerned that one of the primary compenents apparently intended to secure the seat to the vehicle would snap so easily without excessive force or use.

2002 ford sport trac- vehicle has less than 40,000 miles on it. had to have brakes and rotors replaced. brakes were replaced and rotors turned first time at 21,532 miles on 01-19-04. complained several times about excessive brake dust, rotors were turned again at 26,885 on 08-27-05. on august 23, 2005 while driving, vehicle just stopped, had towed to ford dealership and was told it was the air flow valve. asked ford to fix and also change oil, service called back to say i needed new brakes and rotors needed to be turned. gave permission to fix. received another phone call shortly after saying rotors could not be turned they needed to be replaced. called ford customer service in michigan as was told that brakes were only under warranty for 12,000 miles. having had the rotors turned twice and then replaced and having less than 40,000 miles on vehicle seemed excessive.
