Dt: the owner noticed after delivery of vehicle that there was no change in the mileage. the gauge would read how fast the owner was traveling, but not how far the vehicle was traveling. the owner noticed this within the first 10 miles of driving. the vehicle was purchased on the phone after viewing a website. the dealership who sold the vehicle did not indicate that there was a discrepancy. also, certain fields in the vehicle information that could have been checked to indicate an odometer problem, and these fields were not checked. when the owner asked about the mileage on the vehicle the owner was told by salesman that there were 131,889 miles. this was the same mileage that was on the title and on the web site. this was the mileage that the odometer showed because the odometer will not advance as the mileage increased. the owner got the title on august 9 2005, and the title stated as of march 2003 there were 122,042 miles. on vehicle. the mileage advanced about 10,000 miles since 2003. the owner contacted the dealership on august 5 2005 about the odometer problem, as well as a engine problem. the dealership claimed they did not know about the mileage problem, and was unconcerned about it. the owner took the car to a volvo dealership for repairs, but vovlo has never seen this problem with the speedometer working but not the odometer.  view

I was traveling on interstate 20 from atlanta, ga headed to charleston, sc. between augusta, ga and columbia, sc, the car lost power as if someone were applying the brakes while i had my foot on the gas pedal. suddenly, i had a warning light come on that said "performance reduced". i wound up having to locate the local volvo dealer in columbia where i left my car for repair and had to proceed to charleston in a rented vehicle. this happened late in the day on friday and i had to be in charleston for a meeting on saturday morning. the "throttle body control" was deemed to be the problem and the dealer replaced it at a cost of close to $1,000. when i asked what would have happened if i had continued to drive i was told that the car eventually would have lost total power and died. unfortunately, i do not have the part that was replaced. when i read about your investigation, i was outraged that this is obviously a dangerous and fairly common problem.  view

While driving home from work in 90+ degree heat my car overheated to the point where i had to have it towed in and was told by the mechanics that my coolant had been leaking and causing the car to over heat there blowing the head gasket and causing me to have to pay $1200.00+ to have another engine put it. i have heard this is a commom with the 2001 chevrolet malibus. i don't know what the repair shop done with the old motor, but it was fried.  view

At 58,000 miles my oil pressure light came on and the stop demand light came on. i contacted the dealer and the service man indicated to me that the 2000 passats' where having problems with the oil pumps. he further explained to me that what was happening was that the pumps that were manufractured were not built strong enough to up hold certain sythetic oils. he further stated that when the oil gets to hot the oil cyrstalizes and then turnss to sludge. given that information i then proceeded to get my car serviced. however upon the date of service ( even knowing the problem) my car was diagnosed at a cost to me for $75.00. at the time of service i learned that the pump was only covered under the warrenty if i could produce 5 years of oil slips. i have several concerns regarding this matter. the first, the owners mannual does not indicate that the pumps are sensative to certain types of oils (synthetic). secondly, the mannual does not state that the warrenty repairs will only be coverded if all receipts for services performed on the vehicle are provided. thridly, it is clear in my mind that if a manufracturer places a default or defective oil pump in a car that it should be a recall? i have read in the most recent comsumer report magazine and it seems to be a reoccuring problem with vw passats. fourthly, when contacting volkeswagon directly i spoke to customer "care" the attidude was appauling. the response i received was "oh well" " that is our policy" did not get that reception when buying the car! i bought my passat july 13, 2000 and by july 13, 2005 i have a serious engine problem. finally, the dealer stated that the cost to me would start anywere at 1,000. can anyone tell me why this is my problem? i am a therapist and i come across many paths in my travel. my paths include physiatrist, teachers, doctors, clients etc i will be sure to share with them my dissatification with volkeswagon. this should be a recall issue. thank you  view

This is a repeat complaint with corrected model number this seat, an evenflo tribute, model # 3792098, manufacture date of september 11, 2003, was given to a family that brought it back to our agency after about 1 year of use. the metal harness adjuster in the front was broken and unable to be used safely to secure the child in the car seat. this was one of three seats that were returned to us due to the same problem . we replaced the seat with a new one.  view

In january of 2005 i noticed surging while at highway speeds. brought vehicle to volvo of pleasanton dealer to have this investigating. no problems were found. no obdii errors. in april, 2005 i brought the car in again and asked for a mechanic to drive with me so that i could ensure he was detecting the surging. he did. i was told that the electronic throttle module was failing and that it needed to be replaced. i was told that i could not have the part as it was a warranty item. on-line, i found hundreds of reports of these parts failing. i am now concerned that while volvo replaced my etm, they did so with the exact same design... hence i must assume that in another 45,000 miles the part will fail again. this part should be recalled and a new design must be instituted.  view
