1987 SUBARU GL User Comment / Complaint

Dt: the spare tire in the trunk of the vehicle h blew up. the vehicle would not start because the tire caused the trip wire to shut off the fuel. after consumer's husband pushed a reset button the vehicle started. the vehicle was a convertible. the convertible top was pulled back on the left side by the explosion, and the trunk lid was pushed. before there was a rattling noise in the trunk and the consumer took the tire out. after cleaning the trunk out she put the tire back in, and had not used it. a week later it blew out. the consumer had the vehicle since may 2005. she was unsure if it was used by the previous owner. the consumer has not changed anything in the trunk area since this happened.  view

My 2004 toyota tacoma double cab prerunner v6 sr5 has 18,000miles and has had the following problem for a while. i did not notice it until about 2 months after i had purchased the vehicle. which tells me that the problem could be a progressive issue. the truck continues to show an increase in the problem. problem description: when driving the tacoma down the road the tacoma drives fine. but when approaching an intersection where the vehicle is brought to a complete stop is when the following occurs. the vehicle will shift to the rear and a jerk sound is heard and felt. when releasing the brake on the vehicle you will feel and hear another more intense jerk. when you press on the throttle pedal to move forward from an intersection the vehicle displays yet another jerk. all of these feels as if it is coming from the rear. i took the truck to the dealership for it's regular maintence and questioned the service advisor about this issue. i was told in a very "i don't have time for you manner" it's a tacoma it will always do that. i can't nor will i accept that answer.  view

The problem originally started as a delay when shifting the car into drive. this was about a 1 second delay, after which the car would engage into drive, and then run and shift fine. but then, the delay got worse. all of the sudden it was 2 seconds, then the car would no longer go into drive at all. after evaluation, i was told that i needed to have 5 of the 7 solenoids replaced in the subaru. this was on a transmission that was 5 years old, with only 80000 miles on it. i contacted subaru about the incident, and they said that my transmission was out of warranty, and that me thinking that 80k on a transmission before replacement was odd, it was just my opinion. i informed the lady on the phone that i was not the only one with these complaints, they were all over the place online. same thing, over and over, one person had to replace the transmission around 70k! i got no response from subaru about the issue, i was treated rudely, and they basically hung up on me. i did inform the attendant that for my records i was recording the phone call, and she threatened me, saying that to do so was illegal. i looked up the law in new jersey about recording phone calls, and as long as one party consents to the call (me being the party), the phone call could be recorded. here's the statute: "in addition, an interception is legal if the interceptor is a party to the communication, or one of the parties has given prior consent, so long as no criminal or tortious intent is present." i still have the original solenoids for the transmission. i also have a written report on the findings by the mechanic on what they found. the repair cost around $2200. hopefully, someone other than subaru will look into this problem.  view

Dt: the modulator for the fuel ejection system did not work on july 29, 2005. the vehicle stopped and quit running in the middle of the road. had it towed to the ford dealer. its has been almost 2 weeks ,and they did not have the part. the check engine light came on came on. the vehicle stalled.  view

Dt: the contact stated 1988 ford ranger caught on fire on july 28 ,05. it burned up all of the wiring, engine, and one tire. the fire originated from under the hood. the car had been sitting for one year. the consumer had been working on the car. he rebuilt the transmission, put a new rear end under it, and put on oxygen sensors. he attempted to restart vehicle and it quit. he went to start it again it back fired and caught on fire. has not contacted ford about the fire. he seemed to think the fire was fuel related.  view

Dt: the contact owns a 1999 oldsmobile silhouette. the tail lights malfunctioned. has two vehicles manufactured by gm , the other vehicle is a 1999 pontiac montana. the tail lights failed and will not work anymore. she has to turn the emergency lights on to let people know when she trying to stop. she has heard about several other 1999 -2000 models that have similar problems with the tail light assembly. these vehicles are used as taxi vehicles . they have to be right because they are hauling passengers. the pontiac was purchased two years ago, and it has been doing this for the last six months. the oldsmobile was purchased four months ago and tail lights malfunctioned since purchasing it.  view

1.well first the cruise control on my 97 ford f150 went out. then my brake lights went out too. replacecd brake lights ,then fuse went out in interior fuse box so, truck would not go into gear. replaced fuse then it blew it again. replaced again truck could now shift into gear. i went home parked truck the truck in drive way and did not move it for the truck for the rest of the day. was waken up about 3 in the morning by cops telling me my truck was on fire. the truck ended up burnt everywhere but the bed total loss pretty much un drivable. burned a 95 caravan and part of a 2002 ford excursion. i know have i vehicle to move my kids that are in school and myself and my wife which also now has some serious nerve damage she has nightmares of other vehicle burning and can hardly sleep. tried contacting ford but c.s. department puts me on hold all day.  view

Dt: consumer stated the brake pads spit out of the driver's side front wheel. both front wheels were checked, and the brake pads were completely dissolved. they dug deep holes in the rotors. at the same time as this happened the brake line that went to the rear wheels had heavy corrosion and they blew out at that point. other heavy corrosion on other brake lines came out of the abs control unit. the brakes were not worn out, but they totally dissolved. vehicle was not used for heavy towing, and it has not been used in the water.  view

Right outside mirror tilts down in reverse gear for parking, but does not go back to normal until up to speed and in 2nd gear; result: no mirror whiel entering traffic.  view
