While car was going about 25 mph, it went from "drive" to "park". it stopped abruptly. could not get car back in drive except momentarily. the car's electric system cycled on and off on a 16 to 20 second period. that is, it would be on and in park and then shut off momentarily every 18 seconds. it continuted doing this for about 10 minutes when i stopped monoriting it. i had the car towed to a toyota dealer. when it was examined about 2 hours after the incident, it worked fine and there was no computer feedback on the problem. they didn't know what happened or what to do. they said to bring it back when the problem happened again. this could be a life threatening glitch if it occured at freeway speeds in traffic. i believe toyota should put all cars that this has happened to on the sidelines until they find out what the problem is and then come up with a fix. because of the real possibility of injuries, nhtsa should start an investigation and start pushing toyota to take this seriously.  view

Failure of right front suspension resulting in wheel assembly coming off of vehicle. while pulling away from a traffic light the right front wheel assembly including driveshaft, brake rotor and all attached wires and hoses came off the truck and ended up under the vehicle.  view

The ball joints failed in the consumer's 1999 dodge durango. consumer's vehicle was not included in recall.  view

I have toyota corolla 2003. fletcher jones toyota replaced all tires on december 11, 2004 and installed new goodyear tires on this car. on may 17, 2005 i drove this car on highway at speed approximately 55 miles/hours and suddenly losted control. i reduced speed, but could not control car and it pulled off the road and stopped. the left rear tire became flat. i contacted goodyear (claim #766745). in accordance with gooodyear, nothing wrong with tire. it just losted seal. they refused to replace tire. goodyear authorized repair facility dixieland (776 south blaff street, st. george, ut 84770) resealed tire. tire size is 185-65-r15 and it is not in your list.  view

Dt: without warning the vehicle started to shift to the right and the front tires were wearing too fast, and driver's side tire was swollen. caller stated all the tires were affected. dealer couldn't tell if this vehicle was in recall. caller said could not get in touch with manufacturer. recall was on ball joints, but the manufacturer has not yet contacted vehicle's owners.  view

I own a 2000 ford focus. my ignition locked. initally, my key would only go in half way, but would not turn. after finally getting my key in, it still would not turn. i have researched this exact indicent, and i have found this to be a common fairlure. there are over 150 postings on automotivetalk.net alone. i paid $65 to have the car towed and $310 to have it fixed at the dealer. clearly, this is a defective part, but ford has done nothing to compensate the out of pocket costs to the owners.  view

Dt: at low speeds the abs system locked, and vehicle will not stop. the abs motor popped and pushed the pedal back. this past saturday couldn't get the vehicle to stop and hit another vehicle. took vehicle to the dealer, and they replaced the front hubs sensor, but problem recurred.  view

Daimlerchrysler motor corporation p.o. box 21-8004 auburn hills, mi 48321-8004 attention: quality assurance my dodge presently has 49,200 miles. it has been serviced at recommended and required intervals at manahawkin dodge approximately every 3,000 miles. early into my ownership i had intermittent trouble with the air conditioner and they tried to assess the problem. they did a recharge of the system and corrected the problem. i was told at 28998 miles that the "pulsing" when my brakes were applied was due to "hot spots" on my front rotors. when i inquired as to how this could happen to a relatively new truck that is used as a personal transportation vehicle i was told they really "did not know but have had to replace others." it is noted that i never had to replace rotors on my previous nissans. that ended up costing me $393. i began hearing a noise in the transmission and intermittent delayed shifting into gear resulting in the transmission being serviced which included changing filters, lubricant, etc. i was also told that my upper ball joint was worn and replaced one side only. this i subsequently learned has been a problem for some dodge vehicles and i have since received a letter from daimlerchrysler regarding an extended warranty on the part. today i was told that i had play in the right front ball bearing and the hub needed a total replacement. along with that a strut had to be replaced and an alignment once it was completed. when i asked how axle bearing could go bad with this low a mileage i was told that the hub is sealed and no way to lubricate and that it should not have gone bad. in addition, i have a noisy left leaf spring that needs a part. the cost for the front hub is over $600. i rarely get over 16 miles per gallon even i the best driving conditions. sincerely, charles w. stauffer cc: nhtsa nj division consumer affairs file  view

Dt: consumer had an accident today. consumer was about to make a left, a car was braking ahead and the consumer hit the brake. the consumers breaks did not respond. the tachometer was going up. consumer hit brakes a second time, still did not work. consumer hit other vehicle, and then vehicle stopped. previous warning. took vehicle to repair shop, mechanic said it just needed an oil change. last friday at one point it seemed like the brakes didn't grab. jeep stated there was a service alert or recall. in the past consumer asked for information about this problem, when the driver tries to slam on brakes instead hits both the gas and brake pedal because of it being so close together.  view

Dt: contact stated the headlights have been replaced four times, but continue to blow out. the service dealer stated the headlights installed were not a quality line headlights.  view

Dt: consumer received a recall letter around june 13, 2005. she contacted the local dealership, and was told the parts were not in. she called back today and the parts still were not available. she called kia, and they told her to call back and have the vehicle inspected until the parts were available. she has to call back again to arrange for that.  view

Dt: consumer was driving through parking lot at low speed when the car suddenly accelerated at great speed. the consumer was unable to slow the vehicle down before it struck 2 vehicles, and sped over a 3 1/2 foot high wall where it went over and came to a rest. upon inspection, the attending police officer discovered a broken throttle cable which he believed caused the vehicle to act the way that it did. the car was totaled. currently awaiting insurance report.  view

Dt: the brake rotors pitted, corroded, rusted, and flaked. the brakes have been serviced, and the mechanic said that other rotors have been corroding as well. the rotors don't show signs of a problem until the metal has worn down. the consumer contacted general motor and said the were very rude.  view

First occurance: 3/05 noticed tire pressure gauge light up in vehicle, went to gas station checked all tires and filled front passenger tire. one day later same tire pressure light on, went to tire shop to fix flat tire and was told that the rim had three hair line cracks in it , took rim to dealer and dealer would not replace. second occurance: 7/05 same thing happens but to front driver side rim. the vehicle hasn't even been driven enough to get a flat tire let alone a rim with two hair line cracks in it. dealer will not take responsibility for these rims, and won't even discuss the possibility of a defect. i still have both the rims. i hope you can help me in this matter. thanks andrea benson  view

1.the clock on the dashboard: the time is running almost 1 minute faster per day. if you don’t fix it for 10 days, it would run 10 minutes ahead. 2.the driver’s seat: when i purchased this car, i asked for power seats but the dealer didn’t have it. i was a little uncomfortable with the manual seat, but the sales person convinced me, so i decided to take the one with manual. since then, i’ve felt that the driver’s seat is always sinking down so i consistently have to pull up the stick to push up the seat quite often while i’m driving. 3.rear seat: i had to fold the rear seat once to load something in the back. after, i tried to unfold the seat but it didn’t go back. i brought this car to the dealer’s service on nov. 15th, 2004. while one of the service persons was trying to unfold the rear seat, he had to cut the seat belt and has scratched the seat and broken some piece on the seat. he said he’s going to order some parts and it would take a few days. ever since then, nobody knows the status of this order. both the service dept and the “customer care” dept, in headquarters have always been telling me “it’s on backorder” with “no further information”, and they “don’t know when” for last six months. i asked them “if you don’t have the part, even in germany, how long will it take for the manufacturer to make the part?” and they keep saying is “don’t know” and “we are still checking the status of the part everyday.” in a common sense, the period of four months should be enough time to make the part and ship it to the dealer. i also sent a complaint letter to the ceo of the dealer/mckenna & vw north america headquater a couple of months ago. but still they don't know about the part.  view

Dt: caller says axle on driver's side broke about 1½ years ago. dealer examined the other side, then said it was alright. dealer fixed the problem at manufacturer's expense. currently, brakes started making a noise, and the passenger's side axle broke. dealer said it was caller's problem. manufacturer could not find any records of first owner, and said they will not pay for getting it fixed.  view

Dt: contact states when putting on the air conditioner (a/c) the clutch sticks. the car wouldn't move. this happened since last summer. she took vehicle to the dealer 3 times last summer. it was not fixed because she wanted kia to pay for it.  view

Dt: the contact owns a 2002 isuzu rodeo. vehicle is leaking anti-freeze. he contacted the dealer and the manufacturer, and he does not feel safe driving the vehicle anymore.  view

The radiator overflow tank on the honda gl1800 is under the bike and is lower then the frame. the front tire can kick up road debree and it will knock a hole in the tank. this happened to my brother-in-law and to my bike. when the tank has a hole in it, the antifreeze runs out on to the ground and under the rear tire on a two wheel bike. i asked the dealer what honda is doing about this and they told me that honda will not pay to fix it. i can put a new tank on the bike, but the next time the front tire kicks up any thing i'll have another hole in the tank. i only have 4389 miles on the bike. honda needs to redesign the tank to get it higher then the frame or put a guard on it to protect it.  view

Purchased a 2001 jeep cherokee sport in november, 2004. in the past 3 months, i experienced a severe shaking of the vehicle; most often after hitting a small bump in the road. it was extremely difficult to get the vehicle under control. took it to dealership where purchased and was told there was nothing wrong with it. kept happening, at speeds of 35-45 mph. diagnosed at belle tire as a bad track bar.took iit to another jeep dealership; track bar lower control arms replaced. said problem was fixed but 2 days later, while on freeway (65 mph) in right-hand lane, extremely violent shaking occurred. i barely got the car to the side, because the steering wass uncontrollable. i have no doubt that had i been in any but the right hand lane, i would have hit another car. i was able to re-enter the right hand lane but kept my speed at 35 mph and exited immediately. car went back to the dealer who said they didn't know what was wrong with it. they said it could be caused by 10-15 different things and the only way to fix it would be to replace everything, starting with steering dampner (not covered under warranty) but had no idea if that would fix it. i have only owned the car for 6 months and have already spent almost $1,000 on trying to have it fixed (including new tires and a wheel alignment). the dealer was completely indifferent to the problem. the service director said it would cost me a lot of money to have everything replaced, and even then, could not guarantee the problem would be fixed. needless to say, these experiences, especially the one on the freeway, which i would rate a 10 on a scale of 1-10 (the others ranging from 1-4), have shaken me to the very core; i could have been killed. i can never again drive that car and feel safe, especially when the dealer has no idea what the problem is or how to fix it. i checked the internet and found 38,000 websites dealing with this problem; prevalent in jeeps. the problem is aptly dubbed "death wobble".  view

Transmission died at 70,000 miles, with no warning, causing brakes and other components of the car to fail, nearly causing an accident on a major thoroughfare. the car was smoking all the way home and i barely made it. i was shaking by the time i got out of my car.  view

2004 chevrolet silverado experiencing problems with transmission.....transmission bangs when shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear and downshifts hard from 3rd to 2nd gear. reported problem to dealer in february 2004 at 3796 miles. repaired on march 2, 2004 as per bulletin 1430080. problem recurred and was reported to dealer in october 2004, and dealer indicated it was normal as per bulletin 1430424. at this time, service manager provided bulletin 1538220 which stated that problem was corrected in transmission built after february 2004. problem again recurred in november 2004 and march 2005, and dealer stated that it was just excessive drive line lash. consumer reported this to gm, and they increased warranty terms to 5 years/75000 miles. consumer claimed warranry was no help because if dealer won'r correct problem now they won'r correct it later.  view

2002 honda vtx 1800 right side of the radiator plastic trim melted through......the right side of the radiator plastic trim shroud melted through where it comes in close proximity with the exhaust pipe. the top of the shroud is approximately 8 feet from the fuel tank. consumer is afraid that plastic shroud will catch on fire.  view

Dt: there was just a recall on the passenger seat bolt breaking loose and coming off, but the main driver's seat is the one that has the problem. also, under certain conditions the carburetor and fuel pump can emit substantial amounts of gasoline through a carburetor vent onto the hot engine cylinder; potentially causing fire and explosion.  view

Dt: consumer complained that the belt will not stay in the child's safety seat. the harness that keeps the child in the seat will not stay in the seat. it disconnects from the seat at times. had to rig up the harness so that child will stay in the car seat. also, handle does not lock. while putting child in the car seat it dumped him out of the car seat twice. he sustained injuries, hitting his face and head. consumer called the manufacturer, and they did not fix this car seat.  view

2005 toyota solara. if it is driven for 1 hour, engine noise is louder when brake is pressed while waiting for traffic light. if, i move auto transmission stick to n, noise is caml down. this does not happen if car is driven lesser than 15 minutes.  view

2003 mercury sable station wagon ran off the road into a stone lined ditch. the passenger air bag deployed but the driver's side air bag did not...... on april1, 2005 while driving within the speed limit vehicle ran off the road into a rock lined ditch. upon impact, driver's side air bag failed to inflate. driver sustained chest pains and numerous burns. driver was in pain for about 4 weeks.  view

When applying the brakes, brake pedal would continue to pump back out, giving little use, or very hard stopping. difficulty using brakes. disconnected the abs.  view

While going through a very busy intersection at rush hour, my 1999 ford taurus just stopped. it will only operate in reverse. the car has just under 50,000 original miles. there has to be some defect for a vehicle to have this kind of problem with such reasonable miles.  view

While drive a 2004 tahoe with approx. 14, 000 miles on tires, proceeding on a smooth, flat secondary road at approximately 35-40 mph, low tire pressure sensor alarm registered on the dash panel. within 30 seconds of the alarm the tire went flat from a sidewal failure of approx. 4 inches long. i drove approx. 1/4 mile on the rim/sidewall to gain a safe place to change the flat. after waiting for over an hour for gm roadside assistance, i changed the tire myself with the aid of a local resident. after contacting gm dealer, northstar chevrolet clifton park, ny, district service director said that the faliure was from road hazard and would not pay for replacement [$181.39]. the service director said the failure was from the outside in, good man could tell this with a tire which was driven on the sidewall for approx. 1/4 mile. i still have digital pictures of damage tire.  view

2001 ford explorer experiencing problems with a short in the wiring to the radio and the keyless entry system is inoperative. the consumer was informed that the radio was no good. the problem was found to be a bad fuse. the consumer purchased two new batteries for the vehicle.  view

Feb.05 we were in big bear ca. with 4 or more feet of fresh snow: coming down the hill in our 2002 suburban the brakes became very soft and pedal went to the floor with no brakes. we checked the ground under suburban and all the brake fluid was on the snow. we had subruban towed to the nearest dealer in redlands because there is a "bumper to bumper" policy on it. tom bell had to replace the "brake line". we took a cab to the ontario airport for a rental car and drove back home.  view

Consumer stated the drivers seat back is broken. the seat doesn't come up all the way and it doesn't recline backward ...took vehicle to meroke auto repair in merrick, ny, and mechanic stated the seat should be recalled. it is a main structure in the vehicle. consumer called junk yards looking for a seat and they said that the seats they have are either the same or worst.  view

Dt: consumer has filed a safety complaint #6259431 with federal trade commission. concerning automatic transmission failure on same issue as stated in odi #10125427. also, consumer spoke with the manufacturer kia motors. manufacturer said someone would be in contact with consumer within 3 days. it has been 2 weeks and consumer has not heard anything. consumer said that transmission shifted into a lower gear for no reason. last time vehicle was at dealer it would not go very fast, and the engine was very sluggish. consumer said that it was like trying to pull out in a higher gear than 1st or 2nd. gear. when driving on the highway at 70 mph the car would down shift to a low gear and it would drop to 35 mph. dealer indicated that something was making the vehicle drop into safe mode, which caused vehicle to stay in second gear. dealer replaced transmission control module (tcm), replaced the throttle body, and has done something to the grounds. in february the dealer replaced the transmission . currently they replaced the tcm, added a new computer , and adjusted linkage cables for transmission. however, consumer maintained that problem became worse.  view

Dt: 2002 chevy silverado. when the consumer applied the brakes, the abs activated. the abs activated on dry roads as well. sometimes when this happened the abs popped the brake pedal up and the consumer would not be able to stop the truck. sometimes the consumer had to place the gear into park just to stop. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, who said it was a wheel speed sensor issue. the vehicle has not been repaired.  view

We just recently purchased out '99 isuzu amigo v6 4x4. the fuel sending unit is going out on it and it is impossible to tell how much fuel we actually have in there. the vehicle only has 55k miles on it.  view

Dt: the consumer took the truck to the dealer for an inspection. they found an exhaust leak at the exhaust manifold. the dealer claimed that the bolts contained condensation and had rusted out on both sides.  view

Going at highway speed, car suddenly lost power, slowed down to a max. speed of 37 mph, running mostly on electrical power. master warning light (triangle with excalmation point) lit up. gas engine would periodically start up, but was not responding to accellerator pedal. after pulling over and shutting down vehicle, i was able to restart and continue normally.  view

Dt: dodge stratus 1997. consumer received recall notice concerning transaxles floor shifter park interlock. consumer said that it broke, causing the axle to malfunction. when turn the car on consumer could shift the shifter into gear without pushing the button on shifter or pressing the brakes. before had to press the brake and push button to go into gear. currently, vehicle will not go into gear unless consumer shut the vehicle off and turning it back on. sometimes when shutting the vehicle off it would not shut off until consumer messed with the shifter. consumer called in for recall repairs, and consumer went back to pick up vehicle and the dashboard and steering column were taken apart and not put back together. consumer said it was laying on the front passenger's side. there was no fan belt on engine. consumer said that dealer charged her $87.00.  view

Dt: the car seat straps have come loose and come out of the seat twice. this seat was not included in the recall. eddie bauer - 22-625glc. manufactured january 19, 2004 , by the line of og2c. this is not noticeable until the straps come out.  view

We purchased a 2003 prius. the cars original equipment included bridgestone extra load tires p175/65r14. in less than 25,000 miles we had to replace the tires with a second set. after about 10,000 wear on both sets the noise from the tires has been so loud it was uncomfortable to ride in the car. while this is not a safety issue it is very aggravating when you consider the cost of the vehicle.  view

I have a 2005 jeep grand cherokee. several times since i bought it in march the engine has suddenly stopped while i was driving. when i stop the car and put it in neutral, the engine will immediately restart. the dealer has not been able to find why this is happening. this is far more than a nuisance. should it happen, for example, while i'm passing another car, it could result in a crash. i have talked to jeep about this and they claim this condition is impossible. however the dealer told me that his regional manager has experience the same problem with his 2005 jeep. however i have discovered the source of the problem. the key and ignition switch have been mounted on the steering column. should the driver inadvertently bump the key with his/her leg, you can stop the car. i have confirmed this condition and reported it to the dealer. he mentioned that the regional manager also susp-ected this was the case. i am a normal sized male, 165 pounds, 5' 11". it should not be possible to stop the car in the manner i am describing. it has happened to me several times since i took delivery of the vehicle. i believe this is a condition that is dangerous and needs to be pursued by daimler- chrysler asap. gary street registered professional engineer  view

Accident on 4/13/05 drivers side seat belt did not restrain driver causing driver to slam into steering wheel hitting head first and then chest area. the results were severe bruising to the chest area. the seat belt has not been repaired because hyundai says that there is nothing wrong with it.  view

Dt: contact stated vehicle caught on fire while driving 60 mph. the tow company and the fire department told contact it was an electrical fire. the car burnt completely. she bought the car from an individual , and hasn't talked to the manufacturer. there were no injuries. the fire dept. was called. the fire started in the rear of the car where the gas tank was located.  view

The shoulder straps in the rear of the van lock up while driving down the road. it is very uncomfortable and the passengers unfasten it in order to readjust the belt. the belt gets tighter and tighter if not taken off. this is not safe while going down the road to have to take off your seatbelt. this has happened ever since i owned this vehicle. i have a chevy venture 2003 which i purchased new.  view

Truck caught fire around 4:00 am on 05/17/05 while parked in the driveway. my 5-year-old child awoke and came to our bedroom and awakened us. we saw a glow out the window and looked out the window to find the truck was on fire. i called 911 and attempted to put out the fire with the water hose unsuccessfully until the fire department got there. i then began to water down my wife's and sister-in-law's vehicles which were parked close to the truck and wet down the house which was also close by. the fire department then arrived and put out the fire but the truck was already destroyed.  view

I have a 2001 chevy s10 pickup, was sitting on my tailgate whenone of the tailgate straps broke, throwing me off of the tailgate. i was suprised, but not injured. . upon examination, i notice that the tailgate strap cable was rusting out on the inside of the coating that had been placed over the cablem. many of the calble strands had rusted though. there is a recall on tailgat straps for full size pickups, but not the s10. i believe that the same problem of the tailgate straps rusting through and causing an injury if both fail at the same time exists in the s10 line of pickups also.  view

Engine failure at approximately 55 mph. had just come through a toll gate and merging intersection. while accelerating through about 55 mph the dashboard lights all lit up and the engine died. travelled to a safe location via battery power and called dealer. car has been towed to toyota dealer in leesburg, but they can not work on the car until a battery charger is revieved from toyota. they say there is only one in the 4 state region so it could be a week or so. no explaination by service department on what causes this problem.  view

Dt: the brakes at low speeds were working poorly, causing extended stopping distances. they also made a thumping sound when the abs system failed. took vehicle to the dealer and they claimed it was other things besides the abs system. dealership wanted consumer to spend money on the brake pads/rotors, and calipers first and then on defective wheel bearing. took vehicle to mechanic, and stated that was not the problem he recommended to the dealer, but dealer did not want to fix the actual problem. the vehicle had excessive amounts of rust on it (frame, calipers, rotors and non-body parts). the calipers were rusted and leaking. the rotors were warped and corroded and the brake pads were worn and needed to be replaced.  view

Windows would fog up for no apparent reason! i bought the car new & it was never in a flood. defroster blower motor stopped at 21,000 mi had to replace resistors stopped at 54,000 replaced resistors again.stopped at 77,000 replaced resistors ! did not fix problem ! took car to ford dealer they charged $ 99.58 to check out non working blower motor.told me it would cost $453.00 to replace blower motor and seal cowling to prevent water from collecting in the blower motor!! i did not have them do the repair. the water collecting in the blower motor is what would cause the windows to fog up !!! a bad safty hazard.the new blower motor had a water drain hole in it ,that the old motor did not have--this shows ford was aware of this very hazardous window fogging problem !! and covered it up. i have the old motor with rusty water stains on it. it was full of water when i removed it from the car.  view

Consumer's 2002 chevrolet venture was tboned and the plastic latch holding the infant seat to the base broke sending the carrier and infant out of the window. the infant remained in the car seat.  view

I own a 2001 toyota prius. on 05/12/05 i was driving to work. i was driving about 65 mph on the 405 freeway. the car suddenly hesitated, then lost most of its power and the warning lights came on. i was barely able to get it to the side of the road and turned the car off. i restarted it. the lights stayed on, but it drove ok. i took it to a dealer. they reset the warning lights and told me the gas pedal sensor was bad. i did not get it replaced. car has run ok since then. this is the second occurence. it also happened about one and a half years ago. simular symtoms. took car to dealer and they reset the warning system. no other work was done or performed. they said they couldn't find anything wrong with it. very hazardous. car just stumbles and loses most of its power. a second major defect was the front end, which started to have steering problems toyota replaced entire front end under warrentee.  view

On april 23, 2005, my son was traveling to work, about 12:30 in the afternoon, traveling westbound on the 210 freeway. at some point, his left rear tire went flat. his car lost control and spun counterclockwise, across four lanes of traffic, and head on into the center divider. his car continued to spin in the same dirrection and impacted again at the right rear quarterpanel, and the right rear bumper. my son got out of the car, and the chp arrived within ten minutes to have his car towed. i contacted daimler chrysler to let them know what happened and to express my concern. they sent an inspector to the salvage yard. two weeks later i got a letter from chrysler saying that their recalled upper ball joint had nothing to do with the crash. i had a mechanic examine the vehicle, he had it lifted up with a forklift, and showed me the rack and pinion that was dangling down on the passenger side. he said that since there was no structural damage to the rest of the undercarraige, the broken steering was what caused my son's car to spin out of control, and crash into the median, injuring him, and threatening the other commuters.  view

Driving down a 4-lane highway at 60 mph the engine just quit running. there were no unusual sounds or warning lights. luckily, we were able to coast over to the berm of the road out of the path of traffic without being hit. the car was towed to the dealership. within approximately 1-2 hours of receiving the car, the dealership informed me that the timing chain had broke and damaged some valves in the process. the car has 53,000 and is out of warranty and the total cost for repairs was $2,300.00. i informed saturn that i have followed basic maintenance activities and the car is primarily driven to and from home and the office. in addition, i informed them that there are other documented cases of the timing chain failure on the internet ranging from 30,000-65,000 miles. saturn said there is not a problem with the timing chain in these vehicles and "things just break". they did, however, within 24 hrs. of receiving my car at the dealership offer to reimburse me 50% of the repair cost. however, when a vehicle suddenly loses power on a highway it becomes a rolling death trap and the problem with the timing chains needs to be rectified before the problems results in a fatality.  view

Dt: contact complained of brake problems since 1999 due to battery acid leaking onto the brake lines and causing corrosion. there was a recall issued for this make/model, but this specific vehicle did not fall under the recall campaign. the problem wa srepaired by putting a rubber tray under the battery.  view

Consumer stated the gas storage tank was leaking, 3 of the latches did not work. the consumer had an accident due to the speed control. the emergcey brake would release all the way. when the cruise control was on, the vehicle would accelerate. the consumer had the transmission rebuilt. the vehicle accelerates on its no matter what the consumer was doing. the brake light came on but had it fixed.the shoks were also replaced.  view

We have a 2003 bmw z4, 3.0l, auto. ever since it was new, it has exhibited an irregularity in the (electric) steering. it only manifests itself when the outside temerature is fairly hot, say over 85 degrees. the issue is that the steering exhibits a "sticking" or "notchiness" that may be or become a safety issue for drivers if the car no longer responds to steering inputs in the same manner it does when this issue is not present. to-date this issue has been experienced and documented by owners throughout the country on an owners forum at http://bimmer.roadfly.com/bmw/forums/e85/. after 2 trips to the dealership for service, where this issue was brought to their attention,we've been informed that bmwna has not recognnized that there is an issue and therefore there is no "fix' in the works.  view

With aprox. 89,000 miles on the truck i experienced loss of power during normal operations. replacement of the fuel filter fixed the problem for a short periods of time. thought the problem was bad fuel. as it turned out it was my transfer pump getting weak. this inturn, due to low juel pressure, caused my fuel injection pump to eventuly fail. i had to have this repaired in may of 2005. from what i have been told by the repair shop this is an inherit problem with the cummings. i have spoken with other cummings diesel owners and they have told me of the same problems. dodge most be aware of this problem. this is a very expensive repair, $2100 between the two pumps and that is with me replacing the transfer pump myself. there should have been a low fuel pressure inticator install in these trucks at the factory. they are avalible in the aftermarket. i have also had front ball joint problems with this truck. these joints are maintance free jionts that fail, i believe due to the added weight of the cummings motor. this is also an expensive repair because you most replace the entire control arm assemble, not just te ball joint.  view

I have toyota corolla 2003. fletcher jones toyota replaced all tires on december 11, 2004 and installed new goodyear tires on this car. on may 17, 2005 i drove this car on highway at speed approximately 55 miles/hours and suddenly losted control. i reduced speed, but could not control car and it pulled off the road and stopped. the left rear tire became flat. i contacted goodyear (claim #766745). in accordance with gooodyear, nothing wrong with tire. it just losted seal. they refused to replace tire. goodyear authorized repair facility dixieland (776 south blaff street, st. george, ut 84770) resealed tire. tire size is 185-65-r15 and it is not in your list.  view

2000 ford f150 caught on fire while parked. car was parked at 7am and caught fire at 2pm. the is totaled and damaged three other cars. ford told consumer that they could not be of any assistance because there wasn't a recall for the vehicle yet, for under hood fires.  view

The consumer experienced premature tire wear at 48,000 miles on his 2005 nissan titan. there was tire tread wear of 20-25% on each tire. nissan suggested that this problem was the tire manufacturer's responsibility.  view

1999 chevrolet malibu suddenly accelerated while the brakes were depressed. while in park, the rpms advanced to 2600. when placed into drive the vehicle would gain speed to 45-50 mph on flat ground with foot off of brake and accelerator. there were incidents of running through a red light with difficulty slowing down and suddenly accelerating almost hitting a bicyclist. the original iac valve (intake air temperature) with a new original gm iac valve. the last incident occurred after the iac repair.  view

2004 buick rendevous 64k miles - complete ato transmission failure - including transfer assembly. occured 40mph with no previous signs or symptoms - almost caused rear end collision. lost all gears, 1,2 and reverse - only 3rd barely operable. 5 miles from dealer - had to be towed. superior buick (kansas city) pulled pan - said lot of ground up metal. initial cost $5k! investigating other cases - finding gm knows of this problem - in some cases dealers buying back '02 rdv's. finding this exact same occurance with other owners is not just a random - but many failures. just 30 days ago also had to replace entire ac condenser unit $1,500 - now finding this too is a gm defect with lot of other rdv oweners. will try to pursue vehicle back by from gm - seeing a lot of 'lemon' cases out there.  view
