2000 GMC C1500 User Comment / Complaint

Tailgate cable failure, i always gently lower my tailgate however i have had to replace both tailgate cables because oem cables failed. tailgate has had no heavy load. both oem cables were rusted through at the midpoint. gmc claims my cables are good and do not need to be replaced. i called gmc coustomer service and was told my truck was not included in recall.
