I started my 2000 dodge grand caravan and turned on the air conditioner. i opened the doors to let the heat out and my 2 1/2 year old son reached into the front seat and pulled the shifter into drive. the van shifter shifted without pushing the brake and the van ran into my chain-link fence. this is a saety issue and i do not think it was recalled. if it does not get recalled then i will trade in my vehicle for a more safe one.  view

The digital speedometer, odometer and turn signal indicators on the dashboard console disappear frequently. this happens more in cold weather than in warm weather, and they will reappear temporarily if i bang on the dash, but then they disappear again. as a result, i am unable to tell how fast i am going and received a speeding ticket.  view

2001 toyota highlander, v6 engine, auto transmission. there is a definite hesitation/lag/delay in shifting and acceleration. this condition happens almost all of the time and creates a real safety concern. moderate acceleration will produce this condition. toyota is aware of this condition but is doing nothing to correct it.  view

When using the heat in my 2004 f-150 super crew fx4 it constantly pours out of my dash. even when set on floor or defrost it will pour our of the dash. after a few minutes of using the heat, the ride becomes quite uncomfortable. my face gets real hot and eyes get bloodshot from being dried out. i have taken it to ford 5 times and the first time they could see/feel the problem. now that they cannot fix it, they tell me that it is normal operation. which is absolutely false, especially when i own 2 of the same trucks and one does it and one does not.  view

Window would only go up and down sporodically. window regulators have failed. i do not have use of two of the four windows. i bought the car to the dealership and they have acknowledge a problem with the window regultors. according to nissan there is an active campaign (not a recall) on this vechicle for this problem. how can a company acknowledge a defect, not inform it's customers, not repair the problem, and risk liability from this problem? i am very concerned with this problem as i have two small children who must be driven in this car.  view

2004 honda odyssey manufacturing defect. the vehicle was on and the consumer had to children inside it. the consumer put the vehicle in park and exited the vehicle to retrieved something. when she returned and attempted to get into her car it began to roll backwards down the driveway. the vehicle crossed the road before it came to an abrupt stop on the curd. the dealer was contacted and explained that the gears may have somehow become stuck between park and reverse and then popped into reverse. the consumer contacted the manufacturer requesting a new vehicle and an investigation.  view

When i use the dimmer switch on my headlights to switch from low beam to high beam all of my headlights go out and it is completely dark. when i switch back to low beam the lights come back on. this happens at various times and not everytime i try to use the high beams. sometimes they actually work.  view

Thick white smoke was coming out of the back of the van - it had a burning smell. people on the highway were moving away from us because of it. we brought it to our mechanic and he said that the tubes that feed antifreeze to the back of the van (to heat the back) were all rotted, and leaked antifreeze all over the exhaust. he said it was a result of "poor manufacturing." the car is a 2002 chrysler town & country and only has 30,000 miles on it. the warranty just ran out 2 months ago.  view

At 23,000 miles a/c burned out, replaced auto transmission, spark plug wiring and many leaks. front end vibrating, tires and brake lining failed. the consumer stated that the brake shoes for the front and back do not match.  view

At 2,200 miles, a headlight warning light came on, and i took my car to the dealership. i was told that a mouse had climbed into my engine, built a nest out of the hood insulation, and chewed through wires. audi refused to cover any damages. this incident cost me $1,400. i have parked in the same spot of my underground garage for 3 years, and this never happened to my previous car. i feel audi should be held responsible for damages due to poor construction of the car's undercarrige.  view

It was impossible to put the safety belt on while sitting in the face forward position. one had to turn all the way around to attach the safety belt.  view

2003 ford focus -- ignition locks and cannot be released to start the car. dealer (smith ford in lordsburg, nm) has to tow in to work on and last time even replaced the ignition. i am told that this small dealer has had 3 different focus' with the same problem.  view

Consumer had a honda goldwing,2002. when using the rear brakes it set up a bad grabbing vibration in the front of the motorcycle. consumer contacted the manufacturer, who said there was no solution for the current defect. everything in the front end has been replaced yet the problem persist. the customer service center explained that there was nothing more they could do.  view

While driving 55 mph in inclement weather, the windshield wipers failed. this caused poor visibility to the driver, however, the consumer was able to maintain control of the vehicle, and drove it to the dealer for inspection. the mechanic determined that windshield wiper motor circuit board and cover needed to be replaced.  view

While driving at any speed vehicle wandered across the road. vehicle was taken to a repair shop, and mechanic informed determinedthat both upper ball joints needed to be replaced. the dealer was notified. the upper and lower ball joints were replaced.  view

The accelerator on the vehicle became stuck. the pedal left the foot and the brake was not responding. the consumer then tried to the accelerator became stuck leaving foot when lightly pressed going to the floor as driver approached busy intersection neither brake nor gearshift would respond.  view

The parking and emergency brake on the vehicle was defective. the vehicle rolled back and has been serviced twice. the vehicle would roll frontwards as well.  view

Reimbursement request for intake manifold replacement. the vehicle fuel regulator failed and caused the manifold to rupture. the consumer later received a recall notice and request reimbursement n the amount of $1438.06. the consumer only received reimbursement in the amount of $160.17 for the regulators. the consumer feels that since the regulators caused the manifold to rupture that the manufacturer should reimburse him for them as well.  view

While driving between 60-65 mph another vehicle rear ended consumer's vehicle. it lost control, spun around ,and went down a hill, hitting a tree. upon impact, airbags did not deploy.  view

The rear hatch of my 2004 nissan murano se has a hydraulic lift that causes the rear hatch to move to a fully opened position without any human assistance (beyond pulling on the external rear hatch lever to initiate the process). on sunday, september 12, 2004, the rear hatch hydraulics failed on 5 separate occasions to lift the hatch open by more than a few inches. when i manually lifted the hatch to an open position, the top center edge of the hatch caught on the rear center edge of the roof, causing body damage. more importantly, now the hatch will does not open fully with any consistency, either automatically or manually due to the body damage. when the damaged rear hatch top edge catches on the rear center edge of the roof, anybody trying to exit the vehicle through the rear will have difficulty squeezing through the opening. i'm trying to get a nissan dealership to repair the damage (surprise, surprise, they are trying to exclude coverage for repairing the damage from the vehicle warranty), but thought nhtsa should be aware of the rear hatch failure and the potential for trapping people in the rear.  view

04 v 357 000/cam shaft position sensor/mil: the consumer received this recall notice, but was unable to locate a dealer or get through to the toll free number for daewoo customer assistance. consumer has a concern that the "check engine" light will remain on while driving. please provide any further information.  view

The passenger lock was not accessible from the outside of the vehicle. the door did not have a regular key lock.  view

My car, a 2002 volkswagen jetta was parked and running and the driver seat caught on fire for no apparent reason due to most likely the heating element in the seat. i am filing this complaint because if i was in the car i may have been injured or killed due to the defect. i just want someone to know so that other people are safe in the future.  view

While driving at 25 mph consumer noticed the abs motor was continuously running, and the brake pedal was getting hard while applying the brakes. this caused extended stopping distance. mechanic drove the vehicle to the repair shop. also informed mechanic determined that the abs control module, and both front wheel hubs needed to replaced. dealer was notified. the consumer stated that the left front wheel hub assembly needed to be replaced. the consumer stated that he almost had 2 accidents because abs brakes failed and will not stop the vehicle. front wheel hub assembly was replaced by k r auto repair. new abs control unit installed.  view

Problems with 2003 honda civic lx remote/alarm system. the consumer had a remote/alarm system installed in the vehicle. the car alarm sounds off a disturbing piercing sound each time the doors open and close. when the consumer took the vehicle back to the dealer to have the sound turned off the entire system failed and the doors would not lock properly. the vehicle was returned to the dealer and the sound was turned back on. while driving the consumer became aware that the vehicle is not equipped with a door ajar indicator.  view

Srs light came on. took pilot to honda service to handle recall and presumably correct light problem. service person said problem was not recall related, instead said problem was srs control unit. since vehicle has over 36k miles, this was not covered by warranty.  view

I have been following the recall requests with diamler-chrysler and the failing ball joints on the dodge durango. it appears that currently only the 2000 to 2003 models are being covered. this is somewhat appalling as the 1998 and 1999 dodge durangos suffer from the same problem. i curremtly own a 1999 model and presently the upper ball joints are failing. why are the 1998 and 1999 models not included in the recall?????  view

The owner received a recall notice for the lower pinion bearing and power steering gear. the consumer took the vehicle in for servicing and the work was completed. now the vehicle is pulling to the right. this occurred only after having it worked on for the original recall. now the dealership is telling the consumer that the defect that is currently being experienced is no fault of the work that was done for the recall. the dealership is not willing to repair the current problem unless the owner pays out of pocket. provide further details.  view

Consumer's vehicle was involved in a frontal collision at 40 mph with another vehicle and neither frontal air bag deployed. driver sustained minor injuries to the shoulder and the right arm from the seat belt. insurance company reported the incident to the dealer and manufacturer.  view

Intermittent sticking gas pedal forcing driver to apply excessive force to gas pedal to un-stick. when pedal is forced to move, vehicle will rapidly accelerate. most common occurrence is when vehicle has been stopped. has happened while on the highway at high speeds. talked to other mercury villager owners and have heard of the same problem. no one was able to re-create the problem while at dealership or with a technician.  view

Went to lock doors using power door locks, power door lock system failed. research on internet showed this is a common problem amung owners of ford focus. replacement of fuse and checking of locking system. 20 minutes of research on google with ford focus fuse 63 returned many results where owners have documented this problem and others have inquired about this problem.  view

2001 olds aroura v8 t approximately 44,000 car serviced for brakes for first time ever severe rusting of all four rotors was discovered independent mechanic told me the gm had been utilizing inferior foreign made rotors that were rusting out making it impossible to resurface them had to replace enitre mechanical braking system as a result feel that severe rusting could be safety issue.  view

Problems with brake equipment. the vehicle has been to the dealer at least 4 times for a crunching sound when driving over bumps.. the brakes squealed when they were applied, the consumer was told they were fixed, however the problem resurfaced.  view

The key would turn to the off position and the car wouldn't shut off. they replaced the ignition cylinder, but since it was fixed in february of 2004 it has since done the same things 2 more times. these 2 times, however, the car would turn off, but i couldn't get the key to go to the off position and i couldn't get the key out of the ignition. i took it to the dealership 2 times after they replaced the ignition cylinder (once in november 2004 and once in december 2004). they said they can't do anything about it because it won't duplicate the problem when i have it at the dealership. after i drive it there the key comes out of the ignition. it was fine all summer, and it seems to just do this in cold weather. however, i have also experienced that my radio is staying on after the car is turned off, and my seat belt light and and warning buzzer also don't work when i have this ignition problem.  view

Engine shut off, causing the steering wheel to lock when vehicle traveled over road bumps. taken to dealer twice for testing, but the results showed no apparent problem.  view

Ten months after the rack and pinion bearing/ steering recall 03v527000 repairs were performed it failed. while making a left hand turn the steering wheel locked up, causing the vehicle to go into a spin and crash into a guard rail. a mechanic inspected the vehicle after the crash and indicated that the rack and pinion broke.  view

Early july of 2004, the consumer found while the vehicle was parked, the driver side tire was flat tire. the consumer replaced the tire. two months later the passenger side was found flat, while the vehicle was parked, the tire is. b-.f . model compt/8 dr4. model p215/15r16 dot: 89vmts the consumer replaced the tire at his expense.  view

The vehicle caught fire, after starting the vehicle while parked on the consumer driveway. the fire got started underneath the engine on the left front side of the vehicle. local fire department arrived to extinguish the fire. the cause of the fire is still undetermined. the dealer and the manufacturer were both notified.  view

While driving on an interstate at 60 - 65 mph, a loud sound was heard from the rear of the vehicle and the handling became very difficult. the vehicle was pulled to the shoulder. the vehicle was towed to the toyota dealership in las cruces, nm. investigation from the dealer was the u-bolt that connected the leaf springs to the axle came off and damaged the rear differential, the rear wheel & tire and possibly the front tire. the dealer contacted the toyota care representative and they responded that this was a case of the failure of a fastener and was not considered to be a mechanical defect of the vehicle. as of this report the vehicle was not repaired.  view

Abs & brake light continue to flash. it started as one brief incident and now happens everytime i am in my car. i have been told that this will run somewhere in the ballpark of $1500. this is obviously a poorly manufactured device and should be replaced by volkswagen. we are all hazards on the road.  view

While driving traction control at 65000 miles failed. the light illuminated on the dashboard. took vehicle to the mechanic, and he reset it. then, it happened again, light came on while consumer was driving. consumer bought the part; had it put on. within a month the air bag light illuminated on the dash. took the vehicle back to the mechanic they found that the air bag sensor module was defective. air bag on the passenger side was completely inoperable.  view

Vehicle had large amounts of paint tearing down from it. vehicle was taken to a paint shop to get repainted, but problem recurred. the consumer stated that there is no way to stop the paint from peeling.  view

Recall 03v327000 concerning hazard warning switch: consumer was concerned that turn signals/hazard warning lamps worked intermittently. dealer was contacted, and informed consumer that this vehicle was not covered under the recall due to vin.  view

While driving 35 mph motor blew. vehicle was towed to dealership, but dealership did not resolve the problem.  view

Wife was in school parking lot attempting to park, traveling less than 10 mph, applied brakes, and brake pedal went to floor/with no brake action. vehicle hopped a curb and struck wrought iron fence. consumer placed vehicle in reverse and got it off curb, then into park. visible damage to front bumper & license plate, possible damage to undercarriage. iron fence was twisted/ bent and disconnected from gated entrance. contacted dealership and tow truck was dispatched. tow truck driver scott"from la costa towing noted that the brake pedal was soft, and went to the floor when he started the vehicle. traveled to dealership in second car, assistant service manager steve adams commented that because we alleged a manufacturing defect vehicle should not have been towed to their location because it might be an admission of liability. vehicle was retained at toyota carlsbad lot . consumer was advised to contact toyota customer service tomorrow morning to schedule an engineer to examine the vehicle and determine whether or not there was a manufacturing defect. to date, no work had been done on the vehicle. consumer did not know exactly what caused the failure or what was necessary to correct it. consumer purchased the vehicle new in february 2004, and it had aproximately 7500 miles.  view

After parking the vehicle for 4 hours or more consumer noticed smoke coming from the trunk. consumer and a neighbor extinguished the fire with a fire extinguisher. dealer/manufacturer were not notified.  view

2001 yukon/xl parking brake does not work. failed inspection twice, first repaired under warranty at ~15k miles, second for $225 at ~65k miles. never has held. last time was adjusted to hold, drags brake when released as too tight. obvious poor design and safety hazard. can never assume parking brake will hold.  view

Wheels would shake and make a clicking noise when making turns and traveling at low speeds. vehicle repaired by the dealer when consumer found out that the upper ball joints needed to be replaced. ......also, replaced lower ball joints.  view
