1984 DODGE 600 User Comment / Complaint

Intake manifold failed spilling coolant and disabling car. this was a plastic part that has been replaced by metal. dealer says large numbers of these failures. cost over $1,000 to repair. possible recall for other model lines using exact same engine ie crown victoria.  view

(1) no events leading to failure. (2) started hard, heavy white smoke out the exhaust and knocking in the engine. onsequences - #4 & #5 rods in cylinders stressed. (3) correction of failure - 4.2l engine replacement at my expense. ford would not back up even though i have obtained tsb-99-20-7 and this truck was manufactured 12/97. recall was thru 5.1.97 and engine was put in trucks until 1.15.98.  view

While driving at 55 mph consumer slammed on the brakes and rear-ended the car stopped in the middle of the expressway. both driver and passenger front airbags did not deploy. vehicle's front-end sustained damage. already being serviced at a hyundai dealership and aware of the problem. will receive a diagnostic of the airbag system after vehicle has been repaired.  view

Firestone tires fr680, 215/70r15. replaced the tires on the front of my vehicle at 25,000 miles due to severe flat spotting & steel chords showing. the rear tires are perfect. chevy dealer and tire store both confirmed no alignment issues are present. the tires are really deffective. i had the rear tires moved to the front and bought new tires for the rear. the same wearing occurred, so bought a new set of four. there has not be any problem since.  view

I do not receive any re-calls and recently saw where there is one now for tail gates. i replaced one on my own. also, i went to stop and there were no brakes. after taking it to the garage, it was a hub. was there a recall on this also that i did not receive? i have a 1999 silverado z71 and only have a little over 50k miles on it. please inform me if there have been re-calls that i am not aware of. we could have all been killed from this hub incident.  view

It sounded like an explosion. the van began to decelerate and the steering began to lock within about 10 seconds of the explosion sound. the van stopped and the tires locked up.  view

Upon starting the vehicle and moving the gear from the park position to the reverse position, the vehicle accelerated. there was persistent intermittent sudden acceleration, upon shifting after ignition from park.  view
