1983 DODGE ARIES User Comment / Complaint

Drove vehicle at 30 mph, driver's side tire started "shuttering", after approximately 1/2 mile the ball joins went bad, causing the knuckle to rub on the tire, blowing out the tire and destroying all of the components. the lower ball joints were replaced in 2002. 2nd complaint: vehicle "turns off" when driving at approximately 30 mph. then forced to stop the vehicle and restart without any other problem. fuel filter and other controls have been checked and cleared. technitians believed it was the computer. 3rd complaint: rear brake problem. rear brakes have unexpectedly stopped and froze. technitian was unable to locate direct problem with braking system.  view

Check engine light came on, no drivability problems though. dealer said not under warrenty; 2001 vw beetle with 7,600 miles. checked and charged $142.00 to diagnos problem, erplaced cts, coolant temperature sensor. it appears that it is hard to find any shops with equipment to access vw's engine controll system; only way is at vw or if a shop has a pc based system called morphus? was this defect under warranty since it is part of the overall engine management system, controlling emissions? thank you, joe.  view

In feb./march 2004, right headlight assembly lens fell off, exposing lamp to weather. in july 2004, left headlight lens fell off. we had to replace the entire assembly in both cases. cost about $160 each time. dealer installed new assemblies and told us the failure is due to adhesive breakdown but not covered by chevrolet. the vehicle is a 1998 chevy venture ls with 75000 mile in feb and 80000 miles in july.  view

The abs control system failed on my 2001 yukon xl at 42,000 miles. it failed again at 88,000 miles. gm said this is an isolated problem. it is not. there is a problem with the abs in this vehicle.  view

2002 ford contour, dashboard started peeling up. it gets worse every month.  view

This vehicle has moderate vibration at highway speeds. the dealer has done the following to try and eliminate the problem: 1). balanced all 4 tires - 14oct04. 2). adjusted the steering rack, and balanced 4 tires - 18oct04. 3). replaced front tires, and balanced - 25oct04 (am). 4). replaced rear tires, and balanced - 25oct04 (pm). the dealer's service manager rode with me (during the test drive) following each of these events, and the vibration still exists. also, the exterior finish has a rough feel to it. it appears that this vehicle was in an area where clear coating as being applied (to a different vehicle), and was not properly protected. visually, one cannot tell. touching the vehicle, the exterior surfaces are not smooth to the touch.  view

Need kit to solve airbag problem. the air bag warning light had come on and did so each time the vehicle was in motion. the consumer was informed that the seat belts had come in contact with the wiring and a kit was needed to solve the problem. (vehicle model/ porsche 996 c2)  view

I own a 1998 dodge caravan 3.3l and less than 55,000 miles, the tensioner pulley went out of alignment, the bolt holding the tensioner in place was sheared in half, the belt fell off, and the steering locked up immediately. thank god this happen in the shopping mall parking lot and not on freeway, the van be impossible to control! have the van towed to c&m auto service, have the serpentine belt, the serpentine belt tensioner replaced and re-align the tensioner. the belt/pulley design on this van is flawed and a major safety hazard! in brazil, chrysler did a recall back in 2000 - due to several issues related to belt/pulley system on the caravan and grand caravan models.  view
