1992 MERCURY CAPRI User Comment / Complaint

Sensor in transmission quit working. the first time i was driving on the freeway and it completely lost speed. i exited and came to a complete stop. after that, it would not shift out of first gear. it was repaired by a dealership under warranty. that was at around 20000 miles. today, at around 42000 miles, i started the vehicle and was going about 20 miles an hour and could feel the transmission beginning to slip. i started increasing speed, and immediately noticed that the rpm's were just continuing to go up. i have sent the car to a dealership to be repaired for the second time under an extended warranty.  view

Transmission on my 99 mazda 626 lx is giving me plenty of problems. car warranty is almost gone. i have talked to several people who have the same car and all have had the same problem. i believe that mazda should recall the transmissions as they are faulty!  view

We have found that due to the angle of the seat belt receiver, a child safety seat cannot be adequately immobilized in either outboard second row position. i am an ex-nhtsa car safety seat technician, and know how to install very well. short of using a latch kit (which we are now using), there is no other way to prevent side to side movement of the child seat.  view

2003 honda pilot lx tires needed replacing before i reached 15,000 miles. they are putting inferior tires on the car. i had an independent dealer tell me that the pilot is too heavy for car tires. honda should put light truck tires on the pilot. bridgestone and honda say that tires are normal wear and tear items and are never covered under warranty.  view

When t-bone at 10 mph, the side air bags did not deploy. the consumer suffered minor injuries. the vehicle was towed.  view

Vehicle does not shift properly, heavy "thunking" when shifting into and out of drive and reverse. (regarding number of failures: this happened every time vehicle was shifted over a period of several days. immediately brought vehicle to dealership and transmission output sensor was replaced. (note: filed as separate complaint - 6 months and 2,250 miles later similar problems and transmission input sensor was replaced)  view

Car stalled while driving - would not re-start - between 1/2 to 2/3 full tank - independent garage diagnosed faulty fuel pump, said fuel pump relay was "smoking" and red-hot - luckily happened in town, was scheduled to drive into chicago on 90/94 with family members including a child just 2 days from now! - have read history on this problem, can't believe nhtsa allowed ford to wait for failures - apparently ford's "fix" on this problem is not correct, as this is a 2002 model car - car towed to dealer for repairs, awaiting outcome.  view

The crotch strap locking buckle casing had began to deteriorate on the car seat. model #5911402p1  view

Problems with air bag frontal sensor / control module. dealer replaced opds unit and driver's seat belt.  view
