Sudden failure of ball joints in ford passenger cars.  view

While driving at 45 mph the consumer heard a loud bang come from under the vehicle. the consumer saw the wheel from the vehicle roll across the road. the vehicle skidded across the road and ended up in a ditch. the consumer nor the passenger was injured in the accident. a tow truck mechanic informed the consumer that the ball joints collapse on the vehicle.  view

I have a 2000 chrysler town & country minivan. i was under the impression that all vehicles must be made so that a car can not be put in gear without pressing on the brake. currently, if my vehicle is in park i can just pull down on the gear shift and it will go into gear, without pressing on the brake pedal. i was surprised as our 1996 jeep had been recalled so they could fix this problem. i am concerned because my 3 yr old son put my car into neutral and it started rolling forward and was stopped by a parked car. we only moved 2 ft in a parking lot, but it could have been worse had we been on a hill or something.  view

When i activate the turn signal, right or left, the signal will blink at an irregular interval and then die. this interval is not fixed...its random. sometimes the light will blink for a while, sometimes it will blink once and die. it's the emergency flasher switch. i have not corrected it yet. i've looked at the fuses, all are socketed properly and not blown. i've looked at all 6 lights closely, and they are working and appear to be shining with the same intensity.  view

While the vehicle parked while running the vehicle idling high on its own. the driver noticed while driving the vehicle would hesitate and would stalled. the driver tried to restart,but was able to do so. the driver was able to drive the vehicle to the dealer. the mechanic informed the driver that the vehicle was operating as design. (possible valve sticking) when accelerating from stop, the vehicle would hesitate, then take off at a high rate of speed. this would also occur in reverse as well. there were times when accidents would almost occur. there would be high rpm's of 6000 plus. this was an intermittent problem. it was believed to be a problem with the vti transmission. additional problems: wind noise when sunshade was cracked, turn signal would not cancel on turns and the chime would go off and was an intermittent problems, the driver's side dash seemed loose and or misaligned, and the wipers would not clear the window.  view

Gas gauge gives a false reading. i travel to iowa often and i know when to get gas so that i can make it home. during one trip i stopped to to get gas and noticed that the gas gauge indicate more gas than i should have. had i traveled a different route and relied on the gauge, i would have ran out of gas and got stranded, or worse. my car might have died on the freeway and might have caused major accidents. sometimes it tells me i have 3/4 full tank when it should be only 1/4.  view
