We bought a "certified" car from liberty auto plaza (on the window sticker it indicated that it was certified and that there was a 57 point safety inspection done and it passed, as well as a 3 month 3,00 mile warranty) 2 days after having the car, we were experiencing problems with power steering and the brakes, so we brought it in to be check out. there are over $3,000 worth of parts to make it a safe car, not including the labor at $95 per hour to fix. they were even baffled by certain things, so they suggested we take it to the liberyville mitsubishi dealership and have a diagnostic check done and they would pay for it. major stuff was found here, engine mount was busted and leaking fluid, power steering linkage and bushings were shot and the reservoir tank was cracked, tie rods were blown, the brakes were so "warped" that is what was causing the car to shake when applying the brake. back to where we bought the car, there were papers that were forged and i didn't sign, and they sold me a gap insurance policy and never submitted the policy or a check to get the addendum turned into a policy, so there is fraud. we just want them to take the car back and reimburse us for our expenses. the car is parked and not drivable.

We purchased a new s-type 2000 jaguar. the car now has 40,000 miles and has had three transmissions. starting with the second transmission, i tried to get jaguar to step up to the plate and admit this car was faulty. unfortunately nothing really happened. i just received a absurd "thank you for contacting jaguar" message. the car started having problems again about a month ago, i took it in and was told the car needed a new transmission. this would make the thrid. the car was also out of warrenty by three months which translated to my paying for the $6000 transmission. again, i contacted jag corp and even got so far as to have a customer rep look into my case. they looked and declined any responsibilty. i got the transmission replaced and paid the 6 grand. the car has been out of the shop for three days. it has its third transmission. yesterday, the car started making noise. i called the dealer and was told to have the car towed in. i was just notified that the car needs another transmission. this will make the fourth. the thrid one was only three days old before it went out. so far we are getting about 10,000 miles per transmission and all jag managed to offer was $1000 towards the third one. i can not believe any car manufacturer would think so little of its customers that they turn a cold eye to a car that so obviously has a major fault. four transmissions in 40,000 miles and they continue to say it is not their fault. i wonder whose fault it is? i am very disppointed in the manufacturer and this model. i currently am pursuing other procedures to get a resolution to this ongoing problem that i have been trying to get jaguar to resolve for three years.

The plastic tube that runs from "vmv" valve through th esteel line to the fuel tank (which houses the gas emissions) is ruptured. according to an independent mechanic this is a faulty design by the manufacturer (lincoln-mercury) that after the tube is replaced, it will continue to happen because it will rub against the oxygen sensor plug which gets very hot.

Consumer was upset that transmission failed at 55,000 miles. while driving and towing a boat lost second gear. vehicle revved high when he was in first gear. then it would skip second gear and go into third gear. also, overdrive light flashed. vehicle was inspected by a ford mechanic, who determined that transmission was skipping second gear. consumer had to replace the transmission at a cost of $4,294.97.

Steering failed while turning left on 1999 olds aurora with 34,000 miles with no indication of a steering problem before the failure. turning right was fine, but the car could not make any left turn unless it was only a minor movement to the left while traveling at less than 10 mph. gm paid for 50% of repairs, but a failure like this with no warning needs to be addressed. my wife was using the car and the steering failed while she was parking it. if the failure had happened while she was driving the car i can guarantee there would have been an accident because when the steering fails, instantly, you can't make a left turn under normal driving conditions.

A mixture of water and anti freeze seeped into the oil. when this occurred the fluids mixed with the oil, and went through the intake manifold gasket. this knocked the crankshaft and destroyed the engine. the engine was replaced, but the failure recurred 8 months later.

Problems with tensioner, front belt cover and head gasket. the front belt cover and tensioner failed two months after the head gasket was repaired. the mechanic did not torque down the tensioner bolt and caused it to come loose. the valves were bent even though the motor is considered noninterference. two recalls were applied to the vehicle without the consumer's knowledge (recall wwg90 & wwp99). the seal on top of the tensioner failed. the mechanics had given two results; 3 cylinders with no compression. the vehicle was losing oil before the head gasket problem in december 2003. the consumer also noticed changes in the oil level between changes. the consumer requested a new engine.

Brake failure. on a 1998 ford contour svt (~118,440 miles), the bolt attaching the rear brake caliper resulted in a single point failure to the braking system. while driving north on us 301, just south of laplata, md, i heard a pop and the car felt as if i had run over something, but nothing apeared in the road (from the mirrors). later when slowing while approaching aa traffic signal, i had no brakes. thankfully i was on a slight incline and able to gear down and use what little brakes remained to stop the car and crawl it to a parking lot. after having the car towed in, my mechanic told me that one bolt attaching one of the rear calipers had sheared off causing the loss of braking power on the car. the car did not lose any brake fluid during all of this.

Bought the car brand new from the dealer in december 2000. at 5,390 miles w/warranty took my car in b/c the a/c was having problems. 7,255 miles-a/c is not cold- found system leak-expansion valve leak. 13,247 miles-ac not cold again. found expansion valve leaking- freon-replaced o ring receiver and drier and expansion valve. 34,684- a/c loud again. 60,760 miles- faulty air flow valve-removed and installed air flow sensor- warranty. 88,850 miles-a/c problems again! 88,850miles- a/c not cold blowing warm air, customer turned a/c on and sqeaking noise heard, turned back off, stopped noise, turned back on blowing warm air and sqeaking noise heard again. took car in for the a/c problem a total of 8 times! wrote official complaint letter to vw dealership. manager found the whole a/c system was leaking! manager said it would cost $3,725 dollars! ( b/c warranty has been expired) to fix the a/c unit. they offered to pay for 50% of the price. we are not satisfied. we should not have to pay for anything b/c the vw "qualified" technicians attempted to fix the car, entrusted the car into their care, but eventually led the customer to bigger problems! the car had all the maintenance services done on time! failure of the technicians being able to fix the problem does not show that they are qualified..what did they check??? why tell the customer that just because warranty expired that there is no olbigation by the service department to take responsibility anymore when they are the ones who have touched the system and attempted to fix it?? bad customer service! unacceptable! already notified the dealer and the president of taking legal action. no car buyer should have to experience this kind of horrible time consuming problem. after paying the full value of the car. investing thousands of dollars for a new vw car this result is not getting what we payed for. the car does not meet up to the standard of their motto "vw design and intent".

This is an ongoing problem. on our 2004 toyota sienna van, there is a "dead spot" when attempting to accelerate from a slow coasting condition. the problem does not occur when starting from a completely stopped condition. however, if coasting at approximately 5 - 10 mph, depressing the accelerator pedal yields no response. naturally i tend to depress the accelerator further to overcome whatever inertia is happening, and when the engine/drivetrain finally responds (sometimes several seconds later) there is a pronounced jerk as everything catches. we have had a few situations where competing traffic conditions warranted firm acceleration and were at the mercy of other drivers when our vehicle failed to perform. being in a northern climate, i am also greatly concerned that during icy conditions, the resulting "jerk" which occurs following the lag will result in breaking traction and subsequent skidding. it should be emphasized that failure to accelerate when necessary is arguably just as dangerous as failure to stop, and the problem needs corrected. thus far, our dealership acknowledges the problem and claims that it's a "normal" behavior for this drivetrain.

Vehicle stalls and dies while idling or on turning. vehicle restarts after stall, but all steering is lost until restarted. bmw has replaced the main computer control board twice (dme). stalling is still evident. total number of known stalls - 4. also, based on postings on http://bimmer. roadfly.org/bmw/forums/e63/ it appears others have experienced problems with hardware/software on this make, but perhaps not to the same safety level as mine. almost identical complaint on file with you:make: bmw model: 6 series year: 2004 complaint number: 10091708 summary: 2004 bmw 645: while driving 20 mph vehicle stalled and consumer was able to restart the vehicle. consumer took the vehicle to dealership for inspection. dealership was unable to duplicate problem. the engine stalling problem recurred and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer for inspection. again, dealership could not uncover any defect or malfunction and the vehicle is operating as designed.

I purchased a used 1999 ford contour from a private party on 6/21/04. when i had the required state of vermont inspection done on 6/30/04 a broken right front coil spring was discovered. this is a historic problem, and severe safety hazzard on the ford contour series, as sudden tire failure is commmon with this breakage. years 1995 through 1998 have been recalled for this issue. the problem for the 1998 model year was not discovered until 2001, and a recall was issued that same year. therefore, i believe that ford was still using the defective parts when my car was built in 9/98. this seems to be a prevalent problem as ford is backordered on replacement parts for over a month. it is my feeling at this time that the 1999 model should be subject to a safety recall for this problem.

When consumer was backed out of the garage , the brake pedal went completely to the floor. at 67,000 miles the wheel sensor went out on the right front. at 65,000mi the left front brake went out. the left front caliper was replaced. the vehicle would not start. the dealer replaced the starter. the tailgate would not open due to broken handle. the dealer replaced the wiper module because the wipers failed intermittently. the shift indicator reading was off and the shifter was not shifting smoothly. the dealer lubed the shift pivot and cables. when putting the vehicle into 4wd the front hubs would not lock. the dealer replaced the front differential actuator and harness.

While driving between 65-70 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. when this occurred the vehicle lost power steering and brakes. the vehicle was towed to the mechanic. the mechanic performed a diagnostic test which indicated that the engine had locked. the engine has to be taken apart to identify what caused the lock. the oil pan was full when this incident occurred.

Passenger side power door started opening and shutting by itself after opening to allow children to enter vehicle. the door attempted to close and did not stop, even when encountering the body of my child. fortunately he was our oldest child and was able to move quickly enough to only be bruised on his sides. turned power off to door and tried to determine cause. opened door manually and closed again - door would not reopen manually, even with substantial force. dealership claims "normal wear and tear" and wants $1200 to repair damage to door hinge and motor assembly.

Early failure of transmission. ford escape 2001 cd4e transmission failed shortly after ford recalled it and reprogammed pcm. this had been meticulously maintained and the product failed early. ford should bear the burden to repair this and they refused. poor product and numerous design flaws are documented on line.

2001 chevrolet silverado has had a history of problems. the fuel pump was replaced and was diagnosed by k-s fuel injection as being the cause of the engine lights and low power, the was a fuel leak in which the rear housing was cracked and leaking oil, the transfer case and the driveshafts were removed, the front wheel bearing was noisy and was replaced, the upper ball joint was bad, and a faulty "nsdu" switch was replaced.

Beginning in 2002 the rear doors on 1996 saturn sl2 began opening spontaneously while driving, first the passenger side, then the driver side. they would not relatch. we used bunji cords and then finally rope through partially open windows to keep them from flying open at speed. repeated open and shutting and playing with mechanism finally got them to latch and keeping them locked seemed to help. recently the door on passenger side was accidentally opened and would not latch again. same thing on drivers side. although we got them latched and locked again, no passenger or cargo is safe in the back seat if those doors are unlocked or sometimes even when locked.
