Front passenger tire (firestone infinity) exploded while driving causing vehicle to veer to the side of the road. this firestone tire is standard on the lx version of the odyssey. despite assurances from the dealer that these tires are safe, the tire nevertheless exploded. tire was well maintained, properly inflated and routinely rotated. don't make the mistake i did. trade up for the michelin tires on the ex model. the firestone tires are not safe. despite what the manufacturer says, they are not safe. firestone gave me the run around and only wanted to credit me with a few dollars off another firestone tire (how convenient!), despite having 32000 miles left on a 70,000 mile tire. if you value your family's lives, avoid firestone!

I had my bearings replaced, my rear hub bearings. now it is making to same noise and they now say it is not the bearings-they do not know what it is! my car idle sounds like is going to stall all the time when i am stopped. the car pulls around 5,20 and 50 mph like it just cannot get gas or the transmission is bad. i brought it in 2xs. they say they do not know what it is and cannot get anything on the diag machines. now i am passed 60,000 miles. after having my car for 2 days (giving me no lender or rental) they found a problem at the last minute. oil leaked from the valves into the spark plug wires into the coil pack and that is the car pulling problem. they say i have to pay $600 to fix it. this was on june 6,2003. i brought the car in for the idle which was not fixed and brought it in for this engine hesitation 2xs. both times they did not and couldnot fix these problems. i have the receipts that they could not fix nor repeat these problems, but they are noted. i should not have to pay for these repairs!!!! this is not daily upkeep!! this must be defect!! i have a real problem with this car! i need to be contacted on this matter for hyundai to pay for these repairs! i am having a difficult time on this matter. these parts need to be replaced now and i cannot and shouldn't have to pay for these parts or labor! i also have had my front driver window regulator fixed 4 times, my front passenger side regulator fixed once, my rear regulator fixed once. i had to buy a new battery for my car and a new headlight in the first year(hyundai said i had to submit paperwork to see if they would vote to repay me for my cost of the battery). i had my air bag light going off(which now i never trust for it to go off when needed or even go off when not ). my paint is chipping everywhere! my front passenger window leaks all over my carpet inside floor. and many more problems! thank you, darlene liddane dliddane@earthlink.net 941-637-0802

Last november the "check engine" light came on in my 2001 mazda protege. i immediately brought it to the mazda dealership, who said that their was an error with the code and they cleared it and recalibrated it. they said it had gone off for no apparent reason. three months later (shortly after the warranty expired) the light came on again. this time the dealership claimed that the code said that the gas cap was not screwed on tight. this was not true! when that light came on i immediately checked the gas cap since the owners manual told me that was all i could do myself (it was tight as a drum). the dealership claimed otherwise-it was my word against theirs and naturally they won. two weeks later the light again came back on. when i took it back to the dealership, they told me that the code this time said my solenoid was bad (the car was running great). the charged me $427 to replace it and said i should have no more problems. another couple of weeks goes by and the light again goes off. this time they kept it in the shop for 3 days. they claimed that the code indicated it was the solenoind (how could that be since it was a brand new one?) they cleared the code and test drove it for 50 miles, it did not come back on. i believe that the computer controlling that light is defective and giving out erroneous codes since i know that my gas cap was securely tightened, and how code it point to the solenoid after it had been replaced with a new one. the dealership will not refund those repair bills and the mazda customer service would only refer me back to the dealership. they did not want to hear any statements from me about a possibly defective part. told me to get an independent auto repair person's assessment. i cannot afford that! please look into this for me. the dealership did tell me that i'd never be able to get my car smogged with that light on and i can't live with running back and forth to the shop every time it goes off.
