1987 DODGE ARIES User Comment / Complaint

At 20 and 50k miles, the consumer noticed that while making a turn and placing the vehicle in reverse a grinding noise was heard. the vehicle would not shift into reverse. the dealership stated the transmission needed replacement. vehicle is now on its third transmission. both transmission failure were due to a broken differential pin. a new transmission was placed in the vehicle at 22k and 55k miles by the dealer. the transmission was also flushed.  view

While driving 40 mph, consumer rear ended another vehicle. without any indication, the driver side air bag did not deploy; however, the passenger side air bag did.  view

The vehicle was unable to engage 4 - wheel drive. the dealer stated that the front axle actuator failed.  view

The driver was unable to place anything over 80 pounds on the passenger seat. if this happens the srs light appeared on the dashboard and remained on until the mechanic reset it. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection. the mechanic informed the driver that it was designed that way. the mechanic has reset it over five times and the problem still occurs at this time.  view

I have a diesel version of the suburban, on several occasions, i have noticed that the battery cable connecting the two batteries is very loose and will not stay in the channel designed for it over the fan shroud. i replace it each time, while coming to work this morning, i hit a bump in the road, and then heard an awful noise. i pulled over, opened the hood to see sparks flying everywhere. i immediately shut the truck off to investigate and found that the cable had come out of its place yet again & fallen into the fan. i was lucky i shut it off when i did, there was only a few "threads" of copper holding it together. had it cut completely in two, there most likely would have been a fire.  view

Consumer stated that her air bag light has come on and is stayed on. also, she stated that the air bag light has come on before, but went off. consumer took vehicle to the dealer and was told that they do not have the part to repair it, and it would take at least 4 days to get the part.  view

While driving at 55 mph, the consumer heard a loud bang coming from the front left side. the consumer pulled over to the shoulder and found that the spring had broke.  view

The passenger and driver passive restrain seat belt locks down. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection, and the mechanic informed the driver that seat belts needed to be replaced.  view

Consumer said that the vehicle is accelerating very high on its own even when the brakes were applied, vehicle will still take off. this problem has occurred 3 times this week. owner has taken the vehicle to the dealer, however the problem has not been corrected. owner said that she doesn't want the car back. consumer is very paranoid of the vehicle's ability to perform properly. the idle had been running higher even after two repair attempts. the vehicle was still in the shop as of 06/15/2004. gm had not sent the gas pedal to the dealership.
