On the morning of may 21, 2003 at approximately 11:25 a.m. est, my pregnant wife of nine months, and two children ages 3 and 6 were driving our 1999 pontiac montana minivan southbound on us-131 in the grand rapids, mi area. at approximately mile marker 85 the vehicle suddenly died for no apparent reason and with no apparent warning. she was traveling 60 mph in the far left lane of a 6 lane stretch of what is known as the s-curve in this area. with no power to the vehicle she somehow managed to safely maneuver the van across three lanes of traffic and exit at franklin street. with the help of a state trooper we were able to move the vehicle (which was blocking the exit ramp) to a safe place until it could be towed. upon further inspection by a qualified gm dealership technician the following day, it was determined that the engine completely failed due to a problem with a faulty intake gasket which allowed dexcool coolant to seep into the engine and destroy critical components. this is apparently a problem that is more than common on vehicles with the same engine as ours. gm has been aware of for sometime, but has failed to correct via recall or other measures. had my wife not been swift and calm in her control of the vehicle there is little doubt that a serious and possibly fatal accident would have occurred given the location of the incident. vehicles traveling at 60+ mph come out of a blind curve just before this location and would have been unlikely to stop in time. i would like to reiterate that a state trooper was on the scene and documented the incident as well.

While driving down road at any speed the system will reset self like the clock will reset to 1200 and the seat belt light will flash on and motor light and airbag light all will flash and during that time the car has shut it self off then come back on like nothing happened. then it will die completely i have had it in the shop twice and no one can find the problem. i have about got rear ended while this has occurred. it has done this 3 times in one week and 2 times in another week . this is a very bad problem and really needs to be looked at. it is a shame that people cant get a good car without problems i haven't had this car 1 month yet it is a used car 2001 but only has 46300 miles on it i believe there is something wrong with the computer system somewhere all i have had is a run around and i pay to much a month on this car. i pray everyday when me and my daughter gets in it that we don't get hurt or worse killed. please let some one here read and help. this is a serious matter.

My transmission went out (slipped in and out of gear lurching forward) at 81,000 miles even though i had maintained the car just as the manufacturer suggested at the honda dealership. after seeing many of the exact same problems from other honda owners of the v6 engine for years 1998-2002 on the internet, i confronted the dealer and asked them to contact american honda. i got them to give me a new (reconditioned/rebuilt) transmission and it did not cost me anything. unfortunately if the consumer is not informed and fairly direct, then you could end up paying what they wanted in the beginning which was $4,500 for a new transmission. from what i could tell on the internet, the best deal everyone else got was a transmission but they paid for the labor (around $500). i paid nothing, except being without a car for a week.

THE ABOVE PROBLEMS ARE FOR THE SAME THING AT DIFFERENT TIMES. THE ROTORS ON THE CAR HAVE GONE OUT 3 TIMES. THE SECOND TIME THEY WENT OUT I HAD TO ARGUE WITH OLDSMOBILE TO FIX THEM. THEY TRIED TO TELL ME IT WAS MY DRIVING MAKING THEM GO BAD. I DRIVE INTERSTATE TO AND FROM WORK - NO HARD STOPS, NO STOP-N-GO TRAFFIC. NOW THEY HAVE GONE BAD AGAIN AFTER THE 2ND TIME THEY CHANGED THEM - AFTER ONLY 6K MILES. THEY REFUSE TO PAY FOR THEM. WHEN WE CALLED CUSTOMER CARE THEY INFORMED US THAT THEY USED A "NEW TOOL" THE LAST TIME THEY "FIXED" MY ROTORS - WHICH OBVIOUSLY DIDN\'T HELP. I HAD A CAVALIER FOR 6 YEARS AND NEVER ONCE HAD TO CHANGE THE ROTORS!! THIS IS JUST FACTORY DEFECT THEY THEY SHOULD BE LIABLE FOR.

The frame was cracking around the front wheels. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who saw the cracks but could not determine what caused the cracks. the insurance company took pictures and determined that the vehicle did not hit anything to cause the cracks in the frame. the consumer uses the vehicle as a trash truck. he replaces the vehicles parts frequently because of the amount of wear the vehicle sustains. the consumer feels the frame should never have cracked.

The vehicle's antilock brake motor continues to run after vehicle was turned off. as a result the battery started to run low. the cause was unknown. please provide any additional information.

Odi id number : 10018204 is incorrect and no paperwork has arrived for me to sign or edit- this is a life threatening condition that puts all drivers and nearby cars etc. at risk. complant should read:while driving the carbon monoxide alarm activated due the carbon monoxide in the coach produced by the refrigerator. the dealer inspected the vehicle and could duplicate the problem. to date the dealer and factory have been unable to fix the problem. co enters the coach while driving and refrigerator is running on lp gas. if stopped for night sleeping the coach fills with co if dinning area slide is not in the out position, and the coach is not pluged into ac power. this condition will kill... falling asleep as the wheel of a 33000lb motor coach due to co gas is not a safe way to drive or going to sleep wondering if you will be gased and never wakeup is no way to live. i think this should be at the top of your list for issues before the summer rv season kills. country coach told us to disconect the co detector and bring the coach in for repair. issue remained for one full year that included two trips to the factory in or for factory repair and two trips to independent dealers, and now it is sitting at the selling dealer waiting for? put some one on this asap.
