1993 GMC G25 User Comment / Complaint

I was reading information on the following: nhtsa action number : pe95062 nhtsa recall campaign number : n/a make : chevrolet model: lumina apv manufacturer : general motors corp. year : 1994 component : electrical system:wiring my 1994 lumina apv started to smoke in the steering column on 2 occasions. i turned off the ignition key and it stopped. i turned it back forward to the on position without starting the vehicle and it did not smoke then, but when i went ahead and started the van is began to smoke again. being the only vehicle i own and cant go without it, i carefully removed the 4 screws on the center wheel that holds the airbag, and found that the large yellow plug that conects the airbag was blackened by heat. have you received any other notifications of this in the past? thank you in advance.  view

When driving at 35 mph vehicle stalled. this caused vehicle to drift to the side of the road. consumer had vehicle towed to the dealer, and mechanic determined that engine head gasket failed.  view

When driving at an unetermined speed consumer heard a knocking noise coming from the front of the vehicle. consumer took the vehicle to the dealership for inspection, and mechanic determined that right upper ball joints failed.  view

While driving 30 mph consumer heard a noise coming from the front driver side wheel. consumer took vehicle to dealer more than once, but problem still exists. mechanic was unable to duplicate the problem.  view

Oil leaked from camshaft and head gaskets. this had been an ongoing problem since 1996. chrysler changed the part two times, but did not notify owners. the consumer smelled burning oil regularly.  view

A short in the wiring harness caused the vehicle to stall and headlight failure. there was an electrical wire harness front underhood recall 96v026000 concerning the electrical system wiring front underhood, but this vehicle was not included due to vin. the first incident occurred as the consumer pulled out into traffic, the engine stalled and the lights on the dash were flashing. the second incident occurred as the consumer was driving down the road. due to the wiring harness failure the ecm failed.  view

The plastic intake manifold exploded and the vehicle caught on fire. this occurred when the consumer started the vehicle. engine back fired, and smoke started coming from under the hood. when consumer checked under the hood it was on fire.  view

The consumer's vehicle was rear ended while driving at 25 mph. upon impact, the driver side seat snapped off at the lower left hinge. the left side of the seat tilted to the left into the door post. also, the head rest snapped off. the consumer sustained neck injuries . the vehicle was a totaled .  view
