Brakes and power steering failed. the consumer stated while driving down a long hill, the brake pedal went to the floor. the consumer was towing a flat bed trailer, trailer and load weighing 6000 pounds. the consumer was able to downshift and used the trailer brakes to stop the vehicle. the failure was caused by the pump shaft in the power steering pump breaking . the consumer was told by a gm representative that the power steering pump supplies the power to the power brakes.
