Hm (513) 842-5456; 5-spd stnd transmission; truck will pick up speed without touching accelerator. chevy mfg., states trying to develop a new computer chip.  view

While driving approximately 35 mph transmission locked up in 2nd or 3rd gear. had to move vehicle to side of road, and then had it towed to dealership. mechanic checked the vehicle over and could not resolve the locked gear problem.  view

Factory 17" rouge chrome plated wheels have hairline cracks in the chrome between the spokes. do not know if safe to drive because this cracking of the chrome may be stress cracks in the aluminum wheel. the car a 2002 jeep grand cherokee only has 9,000 miles on it. jeep dealer says the cracking chrome/wheel is not under warranty but stops short of telling me why it happened and if it is a safety problem.  view

A brand new ford f-250 diesel, has occurrences of its accelerator not responding. which almost caused an accident while trying to turn at an intersection.  view

Consumer complained about a brake problem. when driver applied brakes while driving 25-30 mph vehicle did not stop. consumer's vehicle rear ended vehicle in front. currently, vehicle was being recalled for brake malfunction.  view

My 1996 oldsmobile aurora exhibited an extremely strong gasoline odor while driving home and, especially, after being stored overnight in my garage. it was found by the dealer that the hoses in the fuel system have deteriorated and are leaking gasoline. dealer indicated that this was a known problem and that general motors has done nothing to address the problem. a potentially explosive situation could have occurred in that the vehicle was stored in my garage overnight and the fumes could have been ignited by the pilot flame of a gas water heater located in the garage.  view

Key stuck in the ignition switch compartment. also, had a problem with the shift gear position indicator. dealer urged consumer to put a towel at the wheel to hide the keys holder.  view

Locking mechanism on van cargo door (98' chevy venture) defective. door can not be locked even manually. this was discovered by accident after a "repair" at a dealership. this is a safety hazard that according to the dealer is "not uncommon".  view

I own a 1998 isuzu amigo. i had an accident in dec. 2000 requiring my paint to be replaced on the right side of my car. when they matched the paint to the color by isuzu it was wrong . all the inside doors are red but the paint on the outside is purple. i tried many times to get isuzu to take responsibility for this faded paint but they would not return my calls. or letters. i am now approaching the five year mark. my point is feb.29,2000 there was a problem with the paint mechanically then there would be a problem with the body paint also. who can i contact to help with this problem? teri jeffries.  view

Windshield wipers failed while driving in moderate rain resulting in near zero visibility through the windshield. symptoms are exactly as described in nhtsa campaign #03v159000. vehicle affected is a 1999 chevrolet tahoe and chevrolet customer service representatives say this vehicle is not affected by the recall issued for 94 through 96 model vehicles.  view

Main circuit breaker on motorcycle cuts out at highway speed, leaving bike with no power. had to drift to side of road. waited a few minutes and it reset itself. bike functioned normally after that. this is the third time this happened.  view

The brake lights in my 2002 chevrolet trailblazer have gone out 4 times in 9 months. each time the dealer has replaced the circuit board and bulb. i consider this a serious safety defect with my trailblazer. no one seems to know why this problem keeps happening, and i am worried about future problems.  view

Power steering is failing in my 1998 chevy venture. it is displaying the same symptoms that are described in the recall for this vehicle, however, chevrolet says that my vehicle is not included in the recall, even though the recall notices i've read include 1998 chevy ventures. i am upset that i have to pay for this our of pocket and then "wait" for my vehicle to be included in the recall, when it looks like it already is.  view

My 2000 dodge dakota r/t has just under 50,000 miles and was diagnosed with faulty upper ball joints. along with a slew of front suspension components including tie rods, sway bars, and lower control arms.  view

Buyers beware* i purchased a brand new l200 in march 03. to date i have had the following problems: -car does not start all the time -temperature controls does not work -remote entry system does not work properly i have taken my car into saturn 4 times, but to no avail. they claimed that they can't find any problems with the car. saturn customer service is terrible as well.  view

On my 2000 alero the turn signals work sometimes, no other times. also blink erratically. the upper middle brake light is the only one that works. flashers stop working sometimes, then start again. i believe this is some type of short in the wiring system. i know of two other alero owners that are experiencing the same problems.  view

While driving at any speed, engine rpm drops and vehicle almost stalls out completely for a few seconds (at lease 40 seconds or more on each occurrence) without any warning indications (no warning lights being on). putting the vehicle in neutral and coasting it to the side of the freeway while pulsing (repping) the gas peddle, engine runs normally again. almost got into a couple of accidents on the freeway!!!  view

While driving at 45 mph the consumers daughter (who was driving the vehicle alone) was changing lanes moving from the right to the left. soon after crossing the divider lines she noticed brake lights ahead. the consumer's daughter depressed the brakes and heard a grinding, popping sound and the brake pedal sank to the floor of the vehicle. a few moments passed, then the brakes functioned properly, but not in time. the consumer's daughter collided with the rear end of the vehicle in front. the air bags deployed causing slight injuries to the arms and stomach of the consumer's daughter. the daughter also slightly injured her right leg in the collision. police did arrive on the scene, but no one was cited. the manufacturer and the dealer were notified of the incident.  view

Windshield wipers fail intermittently. when the tahoe has been driven for a long distance (hot) wipers sometimes fail to work. when tahoe is cold wipers usually work. they act very similar to my 1995 gmc jimmy before it was recalled for wiper circuit board failure.  view

The abs pump keeps running after the truck is turned off.pump gets very hot and could cause fire. i had to unplug it to keep from overheating and in doing so i lost the anti-lock brakes. now gm is going to take me for about $1600 for a problem they know they've had with this.this should be a recall.  view

Fuel tank replacement still not completed after 30 days waiting for local dealership to complete recall process. i am told there is a delay in the part supply but toyota corporate claims there is not restriction in parts supply.  view

The back brakes locked up at 55 mph, which made me lose control and slam into a tree pretty hard. the road condition was paved and dry. legal proceedings will occur if chevrolet doesn't resolve this matter!  view

While driving 65 mph the passenger side rear tire tread separated from the side wall. the cause of the problem has not been determined. when the tire was taken to firestone they determined that the tire had a flat but the consumer stated it was not a flat tire because it exploded.  view

Honda 2003 accord is equipped with a design defect of costly and potentially harmful, from a safety standpoint, defect. the lower grill on the front bumper is designed in such a way that any road debris smaller than a 16" x 8" concrete block can enter and damage a fully-exposed and unprotected air conditioning (ac) condenser. it is clearly unprotected from the harsh outside elements. the ac is an integral part of the safety of this automobile in that to clear the windshield from any moisture on the inner surface, the ac must be acting in proper fashion. if a car's inside glasses fog-up with moisture, the only solution is to turn on the moisture wringing ac unit, regardless of the temp of the air, the dehumidifier effect of the ac conditioned air is an absolute necessity. the current design of the grill/condenser leaves it vulnerable to be easily damaged by a bit of gravel as small as a bb pellet. there is not any screen or deflector in place forward of the condenser to prohibit any errant road missiles from damaging the condenser thereby creating the safety hazard of a fogged windshield and more. a simple screen or deflector could and should be installed to protect the safety of this car.  view

Recall 03v350000 has no quality control of the welds being made to repair this lower control arm. the dealers can not produce certification for the welders they will use. aluminum is not easy to weld and you must know what your doing.  view

Serious safety hazard: vehicle throttle actuates independently when brake is applied. i purchased a used 2003 ford ranger 2 wheel drive extended cab 4 door model with a 3.0 l engine with 21123 miles 3 weeks ago. three times i have come to a stop, applied the brakes and the throttle has independently actuated. this defect occurs when i apply the brake to make a complete stop. specifically at the exact time my foot depresses the brake pedal the throttle actuates by itself to increase the engine rpm. ( i did not have my foot on the throttle pedal) yesterday, the third time this has occurred. i kept my foot on the brake and the rpm increased to approximately 3000. smoke emitted from the right wheel brake because of the rotation of the tire in opposition to my application of the brake. i had not been using the cruise control and was stopping from a relatively low speed of 5 mph either at a stop sign or in front of my office in all three incidents. yesterday when parking in front of my office the engine rpm stayed constant and did not drop to idle.( during the previous two times the engine rpm surged and then returned to idle within 1 second.) however yesterday after approximately 5 seconds of constant high engine rpm i moved the gear shift lever of the automatic transmission from the drive position to the neutral position. the rpm then returned to idle speed and the transmission no longer attempted to involuntarily propel the vehicle in the forward position. i then immediately drove the truck to the conway-heaton ford dealer in bardstown kentucky for a warranty repair.  view

I have been having problems with my lights flickering to the point where they go almost completely out. the date that i listed below it was the worst occurrence thus far. there were no appliances running ( air or heat ) to cause this. i have had people try to run me off the road and turn their hi beam lights on me thinking that i was flashing them when my lights were actually flickering. i feel that with road rage incidents of this type and the possibility of a vehicle fire that this posses a significant traffic safety issue.  view

While driving slowly or fast, at different times, and not every single time, turning to the right around a curve or turning a corner the steering holds the turn and then all of a sudden lets go of that hold. i can correct it by slightly turning the steering wheel left and then back into the turn. sometimes it holds the second time and sometimes it lets go again. this is repeated until the end of the curve or turn. steering gear, pitman arm, steering pump all replaced and problem still is present.  view

Mass airflow sensor has a short service light. this sensor began to malfunction around 52000 miles, sending a code to the obd ll system resulting in a check engine light. this is way too soon for this type of component to fail, and the component is only available through general motors dealers at a lofty price.  view

The consumer parked the vehicle and 45 minutes later smoke began to come from under the hood. the consumer took out the battery to stop vehicle from catching fire. the insurance company said the smoke was due to a faulty ignition switch. the ignition switch was repaired in dec. 2002 but was faulty. one week later the electrical burned. a letter was received from the dealer in re to extending the ignition switch warranty. smoke continued to pour out of the ignition area and from in between the driver and front passenger seats. the technician found an electrical part of the ignition switch burnt(#15 wire). the abs light stayed on due to a failed abs pump. the consumer requested reimbursement in re to the ignition problem.  view

Problems with blind spots while driving 2000 ford taurus. the consumer had to be extremely careful when going through any intersection due to the blind spot that blocks the vision for a few seconds. (structure issue per consumer)  view

Rear passenger tire suffered tire tread separation while driving at 65 mph. the consumer heard a slapping/banging noise that had come from the rear underneath the vehicle. the consumer pulled to the shoulder and discovered the rear tire had come off as if it were sliced. the consumer was denied reimbursement because the manufacturer concluded the tire was being operated for an unknown period of time with insufficient air pressure  view

Abs control module failure. my abs control module failed causing the light to come on along with an audible alarm. i have communicated with many individuals with the same problem. the local dealerships recommended replacing not only the abs control module but the instrument cluster as well. the control module costs approximately $1200 installed and the instrument cluster was about $500 installed. when approached about the many people having the same problem the dealerships as well as the vw service center claimed they knew nothing of the problem. there are some people who are being reimbursed by the vw/audi service center for their repairs as if there is a silent recall but i was not given this option. i was forced to replace the module myself which solved the problem. at no time did anyone attempt to stand behind their product. this is a very expensive component that has a very inexpensive sub-component that is failing. the customer is left holding the bag.  view

While driving the consumer began to hear a crackling sound. the consumer pulled over and popped the hood and saw that the vehicle was on fire. the vehicle was totaled. the fire department said the fire occurred because of a faulty ignition. please provide any further details.  view

Complaint regarding 1997 chevrolet cavalier serious safety defects. there were two crashes. one when the vehicle was parked and the other when the vehicle was rear ended. the diagnosis included previous botched workmanship. alignment and suspension couldn't be performed. the vehicle was unsafe due to botched mechanic work which was unreported to the consumer or within the bill of sale.  view

Before traveling, the driver checked the tires and noticed that a nail was in one of the tires. the dealer checked all of the tires and found that the steel belt was separating from all four tires. 11/3/2003 - operator 161 - corrected the dot number at consumer's request.  view

The rack assembly and tie rod were wearing prematurely. as a result the vehicle's tires wobbled uncontrollably. the left inner tie rod end was bad and 1/4 play caused the vehicle to wonder all over the road. at different speeds, the left wheel would shake badly. the rack assembly was replaced to correct the problem.  view

Upon leaving work, entered car and inserted key into ignition. key would not turn. spent about 45 minutes jiggling and tapping key in attempts to start car. this was is my first encounter with this problem. the aaa tow truck driver made mention of the "famous ford ignition system" upon arrival at my request. when asked what that meant, he stated that a number of ford products are having similar problems. i paid for the car to be towed home as it was late at night. the next day, a co-worker informed me that his wife had the same problem with her focus too. i have endured recalls with this car, and am shocked that an ignition system may not have issues sorted out. if this is a trend that merits an investigation. i hope consumers can be relieved of most of their repair costs. meanwhile i probably have quite a repair bill to look forward to.  view

Defects: abs light on at 43,600 miles. when car is turned off a loud noise is heard beneath the drivers side of the vehicle my independent mechanic said the abs unit is purging. at 20 miles and regularly there after, when the fog light power button is pressed, the rear window wiper briefly makes noise as if it had been activated. at 3000 miles and regularly there after , all four doors squeak at the hinges and must be lubricated weekly. at 10,600 miles the rear differential began to leak. both driver and passenger seat squeak and do not firmly lock into position. the driver and front passenger seats do not lock into position. the parking brake has not worked since i purchased the vehicle.  view

While driving a grinding noise was heard. dealer found that rotors were defective and had to be replaced.  view

While driving, the steering produced a loud knocking noise. the steering shaft failed. consumer has owned gm vehicles all his life and never experienced steering failure, even at 54,000 miles. he believed the steering should be recalled.  view

I have a chrysler 300 m vin # 2c3he66g3xh784714. the aerodynamic head lights on the car developed a haze that severely reduces the illumination of the roadway at night. i have complained to the dealership and they say that the problem is not covered warranty. it seems to me that there is probably a government standard or engineering standard for the required amount of road illumination needed to make operation of a vehicle safe at night. i wonder how many cars are driving in substandard lighting conditions due to having these plastic lenses that do not hold up to road conditions and are so hazy as to make safe driving visibility questionable. i know that all the modern cars have these type lenses but how can the nhsta not require that these devices be made to endure the expected life of the vehicles they are installed on. when they are new they look good. beyond 2 years they begin to deteriorate rapidly. and here is the real customer rip off: the dealer tells me that for a mere $700 plus dollars they can replace these fixtures. they also come with no guarantee!. what was wrong with the earlier model cars that had glass head lamps and could be replaced for less that $ 10.00 total. they did not haze up like this expensive cheap plastic. it would be interesting to know how many night time accidents really happen because of poor visibility, yet do not get attributed to such simply because the drivers did have their lights on and that is all that was considered necessary. again if you drive very much you probably have been stopped by the road patrol at night due to having a head lamp out. seems to me that this problem is just as significant as driving with a head lamp out. what are we missing here? is it against the law for me to drive at night without any lights? there must be some requirement to ensure that manufacturers design with adequate lighting for driving at night, and that should mean that the lighting be serviceable for the expected life of the vehicle.  view

Oil pressure dropped and the car started making a loud noise. had the car towed to our mechanic. chrysler would not release oil pump so we had to have the car towed to a dealer (the vehicle was no longer covered under warranty, but we had to have it repaired by the dealer??????). the told us that there was sludge in the engine. it cost $6000.00 to have it replace. now the engine overheats when the temperature goes above 90 degrees outside. one dealer says i need a new radiator (530.00) and the other dealer (the one who did the engine work) can't find anything wrong.  view

While backing out of the driveway, the vehicle would intermittently stall. this stalling occurred six times. on one occasion, the dealer replaced the ignition coil, and on another occasion, the consumer kept hearing a pinging sound coming from the engine. the transmission was replaced, and the transfer case was still leaking. there had been a myriad of problems with this vehicle. also, there had been several recalls associated with this vehicle. the consumer claimed that the vehicle was in the shop more than it was in her possession. the vehicle experienced the following: airflow noise/sucked air due to a possible vacuum leak, the passenger mirror vibration due to the bug shields, engine ticking, undershield rusted along with the driveshaft, u-joints, and the bumper, there was rust on the rear box panels, engine ping/noise, the check engine light had come on two times, rear window leakage, transmission did not shift properly/transfer case leaked, hard jumping when in reverse, revvs out more rpm's than normal, engine ping had gotten louder, and there were many times when the engine died.  view

Rear seat belts failed without warning. both rear seat belts were replaced. the consumer was unable to buckle the seat belts.  view
