Engine non-start problems -- waiting 15-20 minutes seems to correct. wandering side view mirrors. rubbing noise when turning tightly. driver's side door movement noise when turning over bumps. side mirror air noise. the 1st. two (2) problems have been ongoing, and the most concerning, since the vehicle was purchased new in 2001. it has been in for repairs to two (2) gmc dealers numerous times, and an ignition recall repair was done and the dealer assumed it would correct the non-start problem. it did until yesterday. more importantly however, shortly after this vehicle was purchased, gmc's owner assistance help has been sought for these (2) problems assuming they may inform the dealer of engineering fixes, but to no avail.

The vehicle would not start, driver contacted the dealer, dealer said to pop the hood pump, the primer. vehicle started 10 minutes later and stalled on highway, consumer feels could have been t-boned as a result of engine stalling and did not feel safe driving.dealer said fuel injectors needed replacement, and will only be replaced one at a time as they fail.

Issue: ford explorer has fuel cut off switch directly below the glove box against the passenger side pillar (directly above the carpet on passenger size) approximately 1 foot above floorboard. passenger may be able to knock the connector or switch loose, causing fuel shut down and loss of power in the vehicle. connector is on bottom of switch; cable runs directly below carpet and can be tugged loose with enough force (connector is standard ford locking blade type). incident occurred on interstate 10 w in los angeles on the interstate 5 north on ramp. heavy traffic caused wife to straighten legs and kicked the connector loose at 60 mph. vehicle lost total engine power and stalled in traffic. vehicle was towed to dealership once before this incident. fortunately it was in a parking lot. dealer mentioned issue was resolved after plugging switch back in. resolved issue using cable ties, but a more suitable recall should be done to ensure other owners do not encounter the same situation. recommend a plate or fastener that makes it impossible for plug to come loose when hit with foot or other objects. also recommend repositioning switch to rear of vehicle, or underneath rear seat on newer models, if it has not already occurred. discussed this with a friend who recommended i file a complaint, even though it occurred almost a year ago. thank you.

The steering column had been smoking when the turn signals were used then one evening the ignition switch caught fire. the whole dash and steering wheel column, and instrument cluster had to be replaced. if your steering wheel smokes when you use your signals have it checked.

I own a 1999 oldsmobile alero with a v-6 3.4 liter engine, and it uses dex-cool. over the past few months my low coolant light has been coming on and as instructed in my owner's manual i have been replacing the dex-cool/water mixture in the overflow tank. just recently my abs light and low track light has come on, and over the weekend i was driving on a highway when my fan belt prematurely broke and stranded me along side of the highway.
