1999 GMC GMC User Comment / Complaint

Vehicle may experience engine backfire due to damage to the engine air intake system. if this occurred, it would result in engine compartment fire. . the consumer stated the air filter and air cleaner was replaced. the consumer was instructed to take the vehicle to a gmc dealer to verify that the air cleaner and air filter had been replaced, the consumer received a recall from gmc who stated reimbursement would be issued once all the necessary paper was received. one month later, the consumer was informed the claim was for general maintenance and general motors did not pay for that and the claim was for a warranty item and the warranty had expired, therefore the claim was denied.
