The automatic transmission was replaced three times. the first transmission was replaced due to a worn out oil pump(the fluid was burned), and there was a whining noise. the second incident happened while the consumer was driving and the transmission did not shift properly (had to drive back manually/the mechanic found an internal problem), the vehicle stayed in fourth gear, and had to be replaced with a rebuilt transmission. the rear brake pads had worn out. . the seat heater light was inoperative, the dealer replaced the seat heater switch, the exhaust system was replaced, the drive belt and pulleys were replaced. the mechanic stated something within the vehicle was built incorrectly to cause the transmission to fail. the motor for the rear windshield wipers had to be replaced, which caused the front windshield wipers not to work, and the hazard lights worked intermittently.

Bought the maxima new and at 12000 miles had to have the rotors turned. the dealer and nissan said it was my driving habits. i promptly told them that this is the first car i had this done to (other than a used 74 vega i had in high school). now the car is at 22,000 miles (and is only a little over 3 years old) and the vibration is back. the first time they turned the rotors it cost me $120 (but after complaining to nissan they gave me a &100 service credit). but i have to do it again and think that it is certainly not my driving habits thar are causing this. and the commercials they had promoted this car as some kind of sports car ('cars like it - 0') driving very fast on the salt lakes where speed records are set. my problem was i believed the commercial. other than this i am happy with the car, but am considering replacing the rotors with some other manufacturer's if that is possible.

1. my 1999 se v6 solara began smoking a lot everytime i started the car and when i accelerated. it turned out to be the "sludge" problem and the dealer did all of the required work to fix that. 2. i was in a front end accident in 1999 and the airbags failed to deploy. 3. there is a very loud, for lack of a better word, clunking in the front passenger side wheel area. the dealer says the strut tops are worn out and it will cost $750.00??? per side to replace the struts. the car only has 35,000 miles on it. shouldn't the struts have a longer life than that? 4. the driver side window just fell into the door panel one day and had to have the regulator replaced. 5. about a month ago, if i tried to restart the car when the engine was still warm it wouldn't crank. first there was no noise at all when i turned the key over and if i waited a bit, as it cooled off, it would eventually start. then one day on my way home from work i stopped at the store and when i tried to leave it was dead and wouldn't start at all. i had it towed to the dealer where i had to buy a new battery and have a throttle body service because the was "carbon build up in the injectors". 6. the car shakes like it is going to explode at high speeds and it is not the tires being out of balance or the alignment. it also shimmies badly when i apply the brakes from a high speed. 7. now, i went to have an emission test done and failed because the check engine light is on. the code was for the o2 sensor. my mother has the same car and has had the check engine light problem for the o2 sensor, which she had repaired and within a week the light was back on. i am so tired of one thing after the next with this car.

The consumers vehicle experienced the same problems as stated in recalls 01i018000 lower ball joint; recall 03v159000 windshield wiper motor, and transmission. recall number unknown. dealer will not repair because vin was not included. the dealer replaced the left lower ball joint due to a cracking noise. while driving through the snow, the consumer wasn't able to use the 4wd because the transfer case needed to be replaced. the windshield wipers were intermittent, a loud cracking noise had come from the right side of the vehicle when turning the steering wheel. the service dealer stated that the only problem was the transmission which had a leak and the ignition switch.

Windshields on mini coopers cracking, chipping easy and frequently. i have had four windshields replaces in the last 8 months. 2 covered under warrantee for stress related cracks and two due to small rock strikes. i have neve been thru windshields like this before and feel that the construction and design of the mini windshield makes it substandard in protection.
