1998 windstar brake line failure over catalytic converter similar to 1996 ford windstar recall 4/3/02 02v101000. local mechanic with knowledge recall on 1996 windstar contacted brockport ford (closest dealer) for information on repair and if any special materials were available to repair. the mechanic was told there wansn't anything available. throug my own research on your website after repair on 9/3/3, 1996 recall describes specific repair for the 1996. are and ford sure the same recall isn't necessary on other model years? under other conditions, our failure could have been devestating to my wife and 4 children!!!!  view

Consumer noticed while cleaning windshield clean fluid leak inside vehicle through seal. dealer and manufacturer had been contacted.  view

While traveling on the highway tires had three blowouts . on separate occasion twice on the driver's side and once on the rear passenger's side tire tread separated from the wheel.  view

Consumer states that after driving vehicle keys can be removed and vehicle will still operate as though keys are still in it. also, vehicle will start up on its own before the key is inserted.  view

While driving 40 mph consumer's vehicle had a rear end collision with another vehicle, and the drivers side airbag did not deploy. passenger side air bag had an on/off switch attached. no one was injured in either vehicle, and a police report is on file.  view

Air conditioner system failure: eight (8) dealer attempted repairs; four (4) new compressors and complete systems installed; thousands of dollars spent (approx. $6,000.00); and a/c remains dead. vehicle is 1991 honda prelude si, vin jhmba4236mc023404, purchased new 7/22/91 from woodland hills honda, 6111 topanga canyon boulevard, woodland hills, ca., 91365. a/c problem began may, 1996 at 68,000 miles, and last attempted repair ended october, 2001 at 142,000 miles. we have four (4) honda accords (1991 and 93 models), all over 160,000 miles, with no a/c problems. the bad a/c seems limited to prelude only. it is very hot in san fernando valley of los angeles, california for 6 months of the year. on october 10, 2001, woodland hills honda recommended another complete a/c compressor and system replacement. the service manager there, mr. bill hall (now gone), stated there was a " complete system problem" and asked honda regional hq for honda authorization to replace the entire a/c system without charge, or to share the costs. assistance denied. this seems to be a product-liability manufacturing failure specific to the prelude a/c system and the compressor in particular. we see many prelude drivers with windows open. we do not want to spend thousands of dollars more for what we think honda should be responsible to fix. does honda know it has bad a/c compressors in preludes and is ignoring or evading the problem?  view

While driving at 40/45 mph, the vehicle was involved in a frontal collision. the air bag deflated upon deployment. the consumer impacted the steering wheel.  view

Ignition first started releasing the keys with out the car being turned off. then the ignition ceased up and would not allow the key to enter more than half way. the lock up was due in part of the buzzer switch.  view

Vehicle would shutter severely when braking at 50 or more mph. vehicle was taken to the dealer on several occasions and had the front rotors turned on two separate occasions. the problem kept recurring. feel free to provide any further information concerning this issue.  view

While driving and without warning the clutch would go to the floor, and would become hard to stop. the dealer was notified. the clutch had to be released to height before the vehicle moved (no remedy), hard start at anytime, alarm went off by itself at anytime (no remedy), would not start and or crank (remedy-replaced the starter assembly/problem-starter relay), alarm had gone off randomly, wouldn't shut off and completely shut down, head lights flashed, alarm would come on, sometime the clutch would have to be played with in order to restart the vehicle (problem-switch intermittent/remedy-replaced the park neutral positioner switch assembly), the radio had static, the coolant light stayed on 5 to 10 minutes after the vehicle was started, there was a chime noise when the ignition was turned off, and the headlights and the horn did not work when the vehicle would go off (no remedy), there was over heating, when the vehicle had no power, the accelerator would go to the floor, then the vehicle would take off after a period of time, the gear made banging sounds, and the thermostats relay switch was problematic and remained to be fixed. refer to odi#10031522  view

Bolt that holds the seat track in place is shearing off, causing the seat to wobble. seat will not stay in the normal upright position. it is difficult for the consumer to reach the steering wheel with the seat in this position.  view

Since i purchased the car there have been a number of safety issues. the first was the transmission. i brought the car into the dealership 3 times with complaints of the car having spells where it was difficult to drive and on two of those occasions it nearly caused an accident. the third time i had to stop the car on a busy highway and have the car towed in for repair. the have since repaired the transmission. the second issue was the car was stalling intermittentaly. the final time i had it towed in and there was some electrical issue they have resolved. i am currently trying to resolve the third issue with the car. the car engine is reving very loudly and if i accelerate beyond 40 miles/hour the car lunges forward. i have not heard back from the dealership yet but this is the second time it has been in on this issue. i would also like to note i bought the car from classic chevrolet and they lied about the safety features of the car. i was told that it had the latch system and when my son was born in may i found out that in fact it did not have the latch system. gmc has stated that they have no way to repromand the dealership for lying about safety features on cars. i purchased this car because i wanted a new safe car to start a family and i ended up with a lemon of a car that is the most mechanically unstable that i have ever experienced. i ended up on the side of the road stranded when i was pregnant nearly an dozen times.  view

Paint on the 2003 tiburon (blue) improper application results in micro flecks of paint coming off of hood and other parts of car. either adhesion is poor or paint much too thin for the mildest of road conditions resulting in rapidly aging appearance and condition. unacceptable in my opinion. need either a tinted clearcoat applied or repainted.  view

Purchased a 2003 f250 super duty 6.0 l diesel in april 2003. it has been in the shop 4 times in which fuel injectors were replaced and reprogrammed. we have been told by the dealer they do not have any fixes for the rough idle, loss of power, occasional acceleration (for no reason). our truck is used on a ranch. we are often hauling horse, pulling water tanks over a wide variety of terrain. the problems are becoming life threatening to my husband as well as our livestock. we depend on this truck for our livelihood. regardless of how bad it runs we can not let it sit in the shop- cattle will starve. complained to the ford customer relations, they had the regional rep call, she ask if we would accept a goodwill $ in the amount of 1 month payment and said we could expect a fix july 31,2003. i told her i would accept $ as long as she understood it was not shut up $ and the truck would be fixed. she said it was $ to compensate for some of the problems we have already experienced in time lost. the dealer still has no new information to fix the truck but told us to bring it back in and they would look at it again. in the mean time i have been trying to get back in touch with ford regional rep, andre chidder(not sure about the spelling) no luck, ford customer relations said they could not contact her again on my behalf because they have done that once and can;t reopen my case. (no one told me my case was closed) i found a number for her in the internet and will try again. this truck is dangerous and should be recalled ...now failure are daily, dates vary since purchase date.  view

Tailgate on my 2003 chevrolet silverado dropped open unexpectedly while hauling a gooseneck horse trailer on a gravel road. i didn't notice this when it happened. made a right turn and the corner of the open tailgate made contact with the horse trailer and ripped the tailgate off the truck.  view

Cosco voyager high back booster with belt guide sewn into fabric cover. the belt guide flips and twists allowing the seat belt to curl and slip out of guide during use. cover and seat are properly installed. nothing remedies problem.  view

While driving my 2002 oldsmobile bravada at approximately 45 mph, without any warning, the vehicle lost all power and stalled. this caused the vehicle to lose steering and braking capability. the vehicle slowed to a complete stop, with several vehicles behind honking their horns and being forced to come to rapid stops. upon gradually coming to a stop, luckily at the side of the road, the bravada would not restart and required it to be towed to the nearest dealer.  view

Truck bounces out of control when hitting small and large bumps in the road. loss of steering control and very dangerous. also, truck pulls to the right constantly. i was told by the dealer in waterville maine, that this is normal for a 4x4. every time i bring it in for service, i complain, but i'm made to feel like it's all in my head. once they replaced the rack, and tried new tires, but it made no difference. under no circumstances can i release the steering wheel, and i'm hyperviglent of every approaching bump. other people who have driven my truck, with me with them experience the same "normal problems". i've had the truck for just over a year now, and the problems haven't gotten worse, but remain constant. i will never buy another dodge product, and i am very unhappy with the treatment from the dealer. if i wasn't to lose so much money, i would have traded it in 3 months after i bought it. as far as i am concerned, this truck is a lemon. for several months after i bought this truck, i polled every owner of the same truck, when it was convienent, and i received more simalar problems than not.  view

Front end bad noticed uneven front tire wear and replaced tires also replaced front rotors and brakes also shocks front end still has shaking problems. ball joints are suspected due to the abnormal tire wear also had a 4 wheel allignment and balance done all said to be correct. still having the same problem after spending alot of time and money.  view

I was driving on the freeway at 70mph when i heard an explosion and my car began to vibrate. i pulled over to the shoulder and saw that my right front tire had blown out. i did not hit anything on the road nor was my tire punctured. several people who looked at the tire said the blowout was caused by a structural defect. 3 weeks before this incident, i had the tires inspected and properly inflated by the tire dealer where i had purchased them. the tires were supposed to last 40,000 miles but i only got 24,000 miles out of the defective tire. the tire is a goodyear club dot # 7ue8 0y62 1700 (size 185/70r/13 - 86t) i am concerned because this tire failed without warning and i am now worried about the other 3 goodyear club tires that i have remaining on my car. i am a conscientious and responsible driver (i have my tires rotated regularly and properly inflated) and i was shocked when this blowout happened. i believe these tires are defective.  view

I have a 1992 lt-! corvette. it has a opti spark distributer that is prone to fail from moisturer and heat. mine has failes and need to be replaced. the cost is around 700.00 for the parts to do this right. has there been a recall on the defective distributer. this infomation is well documented and is a well know defective part. can you help? thank you! bob.  view

I was driving when i attempted to make a right turn, my steering wheel locked up, the vehicle skidded and stalled in the middle of an intersection. i was driving and my 14 month old was in the back seat. i had the vehicle towed to the nearest dealership. i few hours later i was contacted by the assistant manager of the service department where i was informed that the crank shaft positioning sensor had gone out. the part had to be ordered so i was told that i could be without my vehicle for a day or maybe even a week. i was informed that there were other vehicles in the shop waiting for similar parts. my vehicle has been in the shop for 20 days now and i just keep getting the run-around. this is probably a part that will eventually need to be recalled but i guess nissan is waiting for a tradegy to occur before they take action.  view

My 2002 dodge dakota 4x4 had a defect in the brakes/rotors which had to be replaced at 30000 miles. from checking chat sites this is apparently a very common problem with this truck. dodge told me that they were not going to do anything for me that the truck was not under warranty.  view

Replaced distrubitor, cap(2)times,rotor(2)times,coil,spark plug wires(2)times,battery(2)times,radiator(2)times and radiator cap. also wore rear tires was told by mechanic it was my trailor arm bushings had those replaced afterwards went to go get it aligned they said i needed to take it to a frame shop.back rear tire was still kicked out. i also had the cv joints replaced (2)times the first time i drove home 80 miles to where i had car serviced to find out that transmission fluid leaked all over ground. took it back & they said that they had a faulty seal this was replaced with lifetime warranty then the cv joints went out again had to pay $75.00 for labor. now as of today my cv's are clacking again and my transmission wont go into reverse. i had filed a complaint to the bureau of aoutmotive repair. this is an ongoing problem that isn't geting solved. on 9-15-99 battery,on 10-22-99 remain. 1/2 shaft 139.98 each cv half shaft 89.50 ea. totalling 480.66 took back right away due to leak on 11-3-99 replaced seals, on 7-8-01 2 brake rotors 145.98 ea. 1 rem sg clprs local purchase 133.98,1 front brake pad replaced ult disc ser 124.99 totalling 425.98 please note that these problems are over & over. on 3-8-03 2 rem 1/2 shafts were replaced again 239.98 ea & 2 rem 1/2 shaft pur. 119.98 ea. no charge only paid labor of 75.00. as of today 8-12-03 my cv joints are clacking again. just because these are on lifetime warranty doesnt mean it isnt an inconvience,every shot to pay for gas 20.00 & labor of 75.00. replaced distrubutor on 6-3-02 total 394.98. ignition coil,dist. cap,dust leak cover replaced 201.70. the cap & rotor & spark plugs have been replaced again. my car will not start at times have to keep clicking it over & over until it does start. i have all receipts on repairs.  view

Air suspension compressor failure. i was driving along in the vehicle when all of a sudden the back of the vehicle dropped & started bouncing up and down which caused me to swerve..luckily there wasn't anything in my path. when i had the vehicle serviced i was told that this particular component fails in over 80% of lincoln navigators and now the dealer is selling an "upgraded part" because they're aware that the one installed in the vehicles was defective and i'm wondering why a recall hasn't been done already.  view

I was stopped for a red light; the car behind me was coming to a stop when he was impacted by a vehicle traveling over 45 mph which forced that vehicle into my car, pushing me into the vehicle in front of me. my husband was sitting in the rear passenger seat on the left side; his seat belt shattered and released him from the seat belt causing him to hit the driver seat. i sent an email to gm motors on my concern for this issue. they have since come and looked at the car and report it is ok for this activity to take place. gm told my husband that they are not responsible for the problem and that our insurance can cover the replacement of the belt. my concern is that i have a child. how can i be sure i will not experience this problem again but next time to my child? gm refused to comment on this concern. all oldsmobile alero 2001 owners beware; the back seat is where the law tells you is the safest for children. if this is true, why did the seat belt malfunction? i am getting rid of this car. i will not support gm products if this is the responsibility they take in this issue. which is none.  view

Driving 65mph on interstate 45 in houston when truck began to shake violently and a loud tumbling noise started to emit from tires. i pulled over immediately and found the rear passenger tire tread had split apart from the sidewall. general grabber aw p255/70r16, 19k miles. reported to continental tires; they denied the $800 dollars of damage to my rear wheel well claiming the tire was "run flat." before shipping the tire to continental, it was inspected and found defective by my local ford dealer and three other authorized general tire retailers. tires were rotated every 5k miles and otherwise meticulously maintained.  view

2000 volvo s80--the automatice stabilizing system and abs braking system failure lights come on intermittently. our mechanic (volvo expert, but not employed by a dealership) says this is a common fault in the s-80s when they reach 50,000 miles. the dealership is claiming it is a $1000 repair--because the car has 60,000 miles and is out of warranty. this appears to be a substantial software control design problem that should not be occurring and is quite dangerous unless it is repaired properly.  view

I have a 1997 cherolety blazer and have the exact same problem that the model year 2000-2001 recall covers. my bottom brake lights are inoperative as well as my hazard lights. the upper center brake light works fine. if i push my hazard switch to the side, my bottom brake lights work and the top one doesn't. i have already called gm and have no satisfaction after explaining the situation. this brake light/hazard signal is also a problem on the 1998 models. i have researched this on the internet and found many owners of earlier models trying to figure out why their brake and hazard lights do not work. is there a way to get gm to include earlier model year suvs into this recall?  view

I recently purchased a new 2002 honda gl1800 motorcycle, and now have 4500 miles showing on the odometer. this motorcycle is experiencing the same overheating condition that has been well documented with the nhtsa. most recently, it overheated while stuck in traffic on the interstate with an ambient temperature of about 89 degrees. honda has recently begun a campaign to replace the engine control module and inspect/replace the heads and radiators. questions are being raised on many of the gl1800 web sites as to the effectiveness of replacing the ecm. there are some owners who have seen poor results from the ecm replacement and some have reported performance and gas mileage reductions with the new ecm. some owners state that this service campaign may just mask the effects of high temperature by recalibrating the temperature guage. as stated in previous complaints, this is a major safety hazard to have the motorcycle overheat in heavy traffic. please add this complaint to the gl1800 overheating population and continue to monitor honda's actions to ensure proper corrective actions are implemted to resolve the issue completely.  view

Plastic intake manifold failed and sent coolant through out the engine and exhaust system resulting in a very costly auto repair. the vehicle is a 1999 oldsmobile 88 with 3.8 v6.  view

I have a 2000 monte carlo which i had serviced at borchers auto in blackwood nj . they replaced the intake gasket set [ ms90565 ] , and the valve cover gasket set [ vs50442r ] . i wanted to know if this was a recall for that model year that i was not aware of.  view

Door metal on driver's side is cracking which produces a squeaky noise.  view

I am wrting to complain about the mazda 626. i believe there should be a recall put out on the transmission on these cars. the transmission in my car went bad at 75,000 miles. mazda will do nothing to fix the problem although thousands of people are experiencing the same problems.  view

06/10/02 pontiac grand prix vin# 1g2wp12k6vf352423 was taken to mitchell pontiac in san angelo, texas re# action # pe01038, recall# 02v286 & gm recall # 02049. this recall involves the total replacement of the rack and pinion steering assembly. mitchell pontiac replaced a bearing and returned the vehicle. subsequently, loud knocks from the affected area, total loss of head lights, air conditioning failure and other problems arose. the vehicle was then returned on 09/08/03 for repair of these problems. mitchell pontiac refused to rectify the situation. gm was contacted and stated that there was nothing that they could do.  view

Vehicle experienced a break in the front passenger seat recliner bolt. the front passenger seat bolt broke prior to receiving the recall notice, the vehicle was taken to the dealer and the consumer was informed the recall did not cover the passenger side recliner bolt only the driver's side.  view

Dangerous condition exists with 2002 lexus es300, where a severe hesitation exists when accelerating at slow roll (< 5mph) at intersection turns, exiting driveways, and generally anywhere when trying to get into flow of traffic when nearly stopped - especially when a turn is involved along with the acceleration. very dangerous condition exists when trying to enter lane, or make a turn, in front of fast-moving traffic. it seems the car's electronics does not regognize the accelerator's request for fuel under those conditions. a prior lexus tsb addressed transmission shifting at higher speeds, but seems to have created a new, and potentially more dangerous condition.  view
