There is a distinct transmission whine/squeal that occurs when the car accelerates beyond 50 mph. this began to occur after about 17000 miles. it was not present when i purchased the car. mazda claims this is 'normal' and caused by the resonance of parts which occurs once the engine has been broken in. this information was never disclosed to me when purchasing the vehicle and i feel it is bizarre that a new car would have such an inherent flaw that mazda feels is normal and that customers accept the noise factor once the car is 'broken in'.  view

I was driving about 70 on the interstate, i pulled off onto the access road. my car felt very unstable. i was coming down a hill into a very busy intersection, and i was easing through the intersection and my car fell upon its tire. the wheel well collapsed onto the tire, and i could not move. the towing people said they had seen many eclipses with this problem. i am now terrified to drive my eclipse (even after it has been repaired). i had taken my car to several dealerships and many repair shops, and i was told that there was no problem. the right front suspension separated.  view

Windshield wipers have failed for the fourth time. two separate dealers have replaced motor and the entire wiper unit without remedy except for short periods of time. the wipers activate when ever they feel like it and fail to activate during heavy rain and are now "stuck" in the halfway position across windshield .  view

Both headlight lens came off. was told by dealer the lens could not be replaced by itself so had to purchase and install 2 sealed headlight units. cost of over $600. dealer picked up half the cost. car had only 40,000 miles. i called cadillac customer service and all they said they could do was to contact the dealer which i had already worked with. dealer feels there should be a recall on the headlights because 'we replace a lot of these on '97 & 98' devilles, grand am's, and other similar products. these are sealed units just like any other sealed unit that should be covered under warranty (original or extended). it's considered trim which is not right. what makes a sealed headlamp any less important than any other sealed unit on the car? certainly its location should not. it's just plain a defect in manufacturing and cadillac should face it and make it right.  view

The rear passenger as well as front driver and passenger side doors were not equipped door chimes. the dealer stated that there was nothing they could do. the consumer started to drive and when he made a left turn, the door swung open. the child nearly fell out of the vehicle. there were no warning chimes to alert the consumer that the door opened.  view
