1993 GMC G SERIES User Comment / Complaint

Bad valve springs and bent connecting rod.  view

Tire blew out on the highway. driver loss control of the car, veered to the right, missed a couple of cars on the right lanes and hit the side of the hill on the left of the road. car spun and rolled over several times. all passengers (5) were injured. tire was in good condition and driver did not drive over anything (i.e. potholes, debris, etc). * ivoq entry posted after 12/12/02 cut over to artemis**768040  view

Newmar corp are were using inferior aftermarket headlamps on dutchstar motor homes in the years 1999,2000 and possibly other years . unable to see te road after dark.  view

The following complaint pertains to speed control and steering control systems of 2000 daewoo nubira. speed control: (recurring, unpredictable). problem occurred while attempting to park. pulled into a parking space with foot on brake pedal, engine suddenly raced (as if id floored the accelerator) and car surged forward (foot still pressing brake). had to turn ignition off to stop car. happened again (same day) at a traffic signal. would have rear-ended vehicle in front of me if i had not allowed for distance of two car lengths between it/myself. my 62-year-old mother owns this vehicle. says she uses emergency hand brake when this happens, and initially complained of same problem over a year ago. dealer (hillside auto-mall, hillside, nj) said no problem was found! asked if problem could possibly be due to a manufacturing defect? dealer stated, thats an issue you will have to take up with the manufacturer. we just sell the cars!  view

Consumer called complaining about having problems with the direction lights. every time direction lights keep on burning . dealer and manufacturer were contacted, and dealer will only fix it, and a couple of days later they go out again.  view

Engine started making a ticking sound - dealer said it has to be replaced. they also said they have replaced several others as the engine "blew" at high altitude - i bought this 2002 ford escape in colorado. the won't tell me exactly what's wrong and whether the new engine from the factory may also blow inthe future.  view

Replaced intake manifold gasket on my 1999 chevrolet venture in april 2002. just one year later and my mechanic says i have a leak again. these gaskets have been on national backorder for over a year now which tells me i'm not the only one with this problem.  view

Dealer replaced starter, failed to inform me that there was a defect with a corrective action provided by manufacturer at no cost to me. nhtsa # 98v016000. my cost were in excess of $1000.00.  view

1999 ford lightning that has a leaking intercooler. just recently bought vehicle used from ford dealer in march 2003. would like recall on intercooler to be re-opened. i did not own the truck at time of original recall,but i would like it to be repaired. they sold me a pre-owned certified vehicle that should have been inspected for this.  view

2002 buick rendezvous very low passenger heat, trouble defrosting windsheild. car taken in to dobles buick in manchester, nh three times then tulley buick of nashua, nh. informed, will not put out more heat. driving in cold weather a blanket is used. some times turning left or right a blast of hot air comes out of vents. more hot air comes out of top vents than floor vents. both dealers tested car and informed it was working to factory specs. we have asked to have the buick area representive contact us on this matter. this car purchased new 12-20-2002 , currently has about 1600 miles. dealer said wait until the weather got warmer and it would not be an issue. have contacted buick @ 1-800-521-7300 assigned case 1-66914926 and doretha holder, this was 1-24-2003 @ 1-866-952-4368 x58900 she has failed to respond to our phone calls. called main number again now talking to elisa ortiz @ 1-866-942-4368 x48335 she said she would take over the case. the car is not enjoyable to drive is a hazard as the passenger compartment does not get adequate heat for defrosting windows and heat the passengers. i told dobles that we would claim it under a lemon law they informed us that being they do not find a problem that our case would be weak and would perhaps be thrown out. every person that has been in this car in the cold weather complains it is too cold. can not feel safe in car in cold freezing weather as the windows ice up. our family owns chev 2001 silverado, a 1997 chev conversion van, 1997 cady- catera . all of the other cars will provide enough heat for defrost and passengers. this will not. is the burden of proof on us because the factory says it is normal? we initially liked the car and all we asked is for a resolution to our problem. i have taken car to an independent service station and they said buick should look at connections in the "air connection box".  view

Leaking and cracked lower intake manifold gaskets from coorosion at 30,777 miles. with radiator cracked.  view

The upper intake manifold cracked and leaked antifreeze onto the engine which caused the engine to lock up.  view

The carburetors needle valve became corroded due to a rubber tip that came off, therefore the carburetor over flowed and shut down the vehicle.  view

The seat belt did not lock when the consumers vehicle was involved in a front end collision. the consumer sustained injuries.  view

While driving oil leaked onto the rear tire. the cause was massive crank case pressure in which the motor built up the crank case and poured oil out of the muffler air box into the motor without warning.  view

I have a 2000 slt jimmy which has been a pain. i've had lower ball joints replaced, upper ball joints replaced, major problems with the brakes, u joints replaced, hub and wheel bearing problems, altenator failure, a/c blower motor replaced, broken blend door which caused encoder motor and module failure, rear wiper moter replaced, back window lock replaced. too many things have gone wrong with this vehicle. gmc should consider some sort of recall because i've read many complaints regarding some of the same issues.  view

Have a 97 ford windstar all of a sudden i had a tire blow completely here to find out that the coil spring on drivers front broke and went into tire, then to find out there was a recall 2 years ago on it but was never notified of it and also a few weeks ago, van all of a sudden kept getting real hot with rolling white smoke just to find out that there was problems with the head gaskets on these windstars but yet still was never notified, this is not right, i feel we were cheated, now have a van that sits and still owe $10,000 on because i'm a family man of six and cannot afford the cost of these major repairs, i'm afraid of what might of happened if this would of blew with all my family in it on a highway, is this how the ford company treats their consumers by lying and decieving them.  view

Power window motor (passenger side) is inoperable. replaced power window motor on driver side 12/02. second motor to fail in six month period.  view

Brake master cylinder defective on vehicle with less than 45,000 miles. obviously defective part and/or installation, since this part should generally last the lifetime of the vehicle.  view

The intake manifold on mt 1998 oldsmobile 88 failed recently. the plastic on aluminum intake manifold is very susceptible to corrosion. apparently mine failed and all the water drained from the engine. the repair bill to get the car running again was $1838. i am told by several people that this is a common problem on gm cars. because of the common occurance of this problem, i would like to think that a recall is in order.  view

The steering column lockup occurred on start up. gm's fix for this condition was performed by the dealer and there has been no further occurrence. however, two of my friends have had the "dealer fix" performed, only to have the failure happen a second time. i am worried that this lockup will happen at speed. ref. in ea02-031  view

Lost steering. tie rod became disconnected. dealer says that bolts were tightened but that the threads stripped off of the knuckle that tie rod attaches to.  view

Our jeep cherokee laredo (72994 miles as of yesterday 5/6/03) while driving at any speed, pressure is just lost; no matter how much we press on the gas pedal the speed will just drop down to zero. then it will take a while to get it to move at all. we had taken it to the mechanic, not being able to pinpoint why (because when we got there it was not doing that) they did a few test and a tune up. after a few days, same things have been happening again. now when it happens it will take 45 minutes to 1 hour to get it to stay started fully (instead of on/off). we took it to a jeep dealer (salerno duane jeep-eagle), they test drive it and tried everything they could not diagnose the problem. it is very dangerous and scary to drive it and frustrating too because no one seems to be able to pinpoint the problem. maybe with your help we can get to the manufacturer before it gest worse and the problem can be detected and fixed. any suggestions will be very helpful and appreciated. you can also contact my husband, excellent occean, at work if necessary: 908-918-9547. regards, kettly m. occean  view

At 71,000 miles, the power window control module on my 1998 pontiac transport was failed. initially, the drivers side power window moved very slowly, and then wouldn't close all the way. finally, it operated with the window askew, and not closing at all.  view

I own a ford lightning pick up truck that recently blew a spark plug out of the diver side cylinder head. this was caused by insufficient engagement of the spark plug in the cylinder head, an engineering oversight that needs to be fixed.  view

I was pulling into a parking spot in front of the grocery store, when the car started to rev up the engine and drive at speed hitting a supporting column in front of the store. the car jumped the cement block and front was on sidewalk. passenger side front fender, wheel, smashed. accelerator stuck.  view

The headlights on my 2003 toyota corolla are unsafe on the dim setting. the high beams are great, but i cannot see at night. there has to be some correction to my lights before i run into something and maybe hurt someone or myself. what can i do. the dealership and the complaint dept. told me they have had many, many complaints about this. before something terrible happens, please have this corrected.  view

Consumer had recall 98v009000 remedied on 6/30/02 for headlight switch. picked vehicle up from dealer and it was still experiencing flicker on/off of headlights during operation. dealer advised, installed new switch according to remedy.  view

Wheels on this car are too soft and bend easily. when bent badly enough, they lose the seal on the tire and cause a blowout. so far i've had 9 wheels fail, with one blowout, 5 flat tires. my tire dealer tells me this is the #1 replaced wheel in the nation, with #2 very far behind. chrysler and their dealer both refuse any assistance.  view

Driving on highway at night in a pouring rain, windshield wipers stopped working. since then sometimes they work and sometimes they don't, all on the same trip. car has been to dealer twice and they cannot duplicate the problem.  view

Power train - automatic transmission despite regular professional car care at either a subaru dealer in 80 - 100 mile radius) or local automotive shops, car experienced a second instance of transmission failure. in consulting several subaru svx - related sites, i learned problems of this nature have been prevalent.  view

Car skids, hydroplanes and dovetails in even slightly wet road conditions. recently, the car hydroplaned into a fallen tree on a highway off-ramp, causing excessive damage to the vehicle.  view

Broken elevator bracket on drivers power seat. the front left bracket has broken at the weld. it does not appear that this weld had been adequately fused to the axis shaft. the bracket broke in half at the point where it is intersected by the axis component. sometimes this seat rocks backward suddenly when driving which diminishes my ability to control the vehicle. i am more concerned that the drivers seat is not anchored to the vehicle chassis as designed. in the event of being the victim of a rear end collision, i anticipate being thrown to the rear of the cab due to lack of restraint. i am virtually the only person that has driven this vehicle and the seat has only been elevated from its lowest position a few times. the repair estimate is $586 (to replace the entire assembly) as the warranty has expired. this failure is clearly a manufacturing defect and not due to wear or misuse. the failure of this component significantly compromises driver and occupant safety.  view

Exhaust manifold has completely failed due to severe cracking at 54,000 mi/ although this is apparently a defect in '97 jeep exhaust manifolds (based on number of problems reported on internet and manifold has been redesigned) chrysler will provide no assistance in the repair which is over $900.  view

Vehicle stalled upon start of engine, then turned off suddenly after being on. tried to restart and did not turn on. vehicle was towed to shop, the next morning turned on with no problem. stalls upon start up often. and turns off after being on for a couple of minutes. chevy dealer said it might be electrical, they want the car to be taken in when stalling. if its stalling the only way to be taken in is by towing the vehicle there. they're not even sure if its covered under warranty or not. one person said it was if it was electrical but her manager said it wasn't.  view

The entire front wheel hub on driver and passenger sides had to be replaced at 56,740 miles, i would like to add these were easy highway miles. it happened without warning, i was driving when i noticed a loud rumble and vibration under my feet when turning the wheel slightly, i immediately went to my mechanic an was surprised when he put it on the rack and both wheels rocked back and forth!! this could have caused a serious accident had they let go while traveling 50mph. just would like to know if anyone else experienced this problem? my husband called the dealership where we leased it to see if they had any complaints and they really didn't seem to care. we just feel at 56,000 highway miles these should have plently of life in them yet.  view
