Auguts 7, 2001 - traveling on a highway with speed limit of 65mph and the temperature was 101. approximately 25 minutes into my drive i notice vibration in my steering wheel and the vehicle felt like it had a scuttle shake which continued to get worse. i stopped and looked at my front tires and underneath the front end for any obvious defects. didn't look at the back tires closely because i assumed it was a front end problem due to the steering wheel vibration. when i got back on the highway the problem was getting worse (shaking harder) so i stopped once again to look at the front end. i happened to take a look at the rear tires while standing a distance away from the vehicle. my driver's side rear tire tread was severly warped. firestone dealer replaced tire immediately. i feel that if i had ignored these obvious warning signs and kept on driving, i would have had a blow out at highway speeds. the high temperature was most likely a factor in the tire's failure. The dome override button when pushed four times within 6 seconds disables the automatic exterior lights, including the headlights!. the option was was not listed in the users manual. we were driving at night when i found it by accident while trying to turn on the dome light. general motors admits that this was overlooked and not included in the 2000 manual. it almost got us in an accident or possibly worse. if i found it by accident, sooner or later someone else will too. the next time, it might get someone killed. people who own these 2000 models need to made aware of this option. i suspect that this omitted option is not just limited to the 2000 jimmy and fear that it may involve many, if not all of the 2000 gmc vehicles which have this dome override button. dt  view

Front spring fractured for no reason other than it was a manufacturer's defect.fortunate for us the van was parked when the spring broke .had we been driving when the spring broke ,it would have puctured the front tire and possibly cause me to loose controll of the van .i purchased a new spring from a ford dealer and replaced the fractured spring .my concern is i have learned this is a common occurrence with the front springs and that nothing is being done to hold ford accountable to replace the defective springs.this seems to be a major problem. thank you. i look forward to hear from you in regards to this problem.  view
