Driving along between 40 and 50 mph the car suddenly accelerated. i applied the brakes which slowed the car down but the engine continued to race mild panic set in. i attempted to put the car into neutral and instead accidently put the car into reverse. this did stop the car, but as you would expect. i have incurred an unknown amount of damage to the transmission. although i don't expect any sympathy because of my awkward handeling of the shifter. i would like to know what if anything subaru intends to about this very dangerous unexpected acceleration problem. your complaint site has similar such complaints on record. mine will be the ninth. when you consider that many people have probably experienced. the same problem but have not bothered to formally complain, it would seem that a real problem does exist. thank you. dt  view

There is a known problem with crank case lower seal on the 4.6 northstar engine and manufacturer has not responded. oil leak is hitting exaust and cat converter which could cause a fire. this should be a safety issue and a recall for repair. there is a tsb on this issue , but no recall. i want a fix!!! local dealer wants over $2000 for repair! dt  view

Our van was the first vehicle hit in a four car pile up. our van and two other vehicles were stopped for a red light when struck. our van sustained substancial enough damage both in front and behind to total it. the drivers air bag never deployed so i'm having to receive some physical therapy for neck injuries. i wonder if my air bag had deployed would i have had to go through these doctors appointments and therapy. do i have any recourse? dt  view

Consumer states that ignition coil has failed 4x in the past two years causing vehicle to break down while driving. ts  view

Consumer attempted to start vehicle with no success. checked oil and dipstick was dry. consumer added additional oil and vehicle started. rechecked oil and realized that it was overfilled. took vehicle to dealer who diagnosed car has a defective "shut-off valve". dealer informed consumer that if car is parked on an incline the oil and fuel will drain to an area outside of "shut off valve" making the car "think" it has no oil or fuel. consumer stated contacted manufacturer who acknowledged that problem does exist. ts  view

1-motorcycle engines reaches extreme temps. when conditions are: road construction, accident, assembly/activity gathering or rush hour traffic limits traffic speed to between 0 and 20 mph. with frequent change in speed and few full stops. the radiator fans do activate, but are unable to maintain a 'safe" operating temp as indicated by the engine temp. gauge going fully into the red and large amount of radiant heat being felt by the operator. this condition causes the operator to seek a safe place to pull off the roadway, sometimes on interstate highways. thereby cutting across other lanes of traffic and becoming potentially to unlawful "shoulder riders" (this has occured resulting in a near miss while "cooling down" on the shoulder of i-287 in northern new jersey enroute home from lake george, ny from americade 2001) honda dealer was advised of this and two additional incidents, they don't know how to fix the problem. speedometer: has stuck at 45mph on two occasions when i was traveling a both lessor and greater speeds. on both occasions the ambient air temps were high, in the mid 90's. complaint was filed with cooper's honda service manager. his reply was bring the bike in with the speedometer stuck and we'll look at it". speedometer has not yet stuck long enough for me to show the dealer i am truthful ! dt  view

This will be the third switch this car has had and a few other people i talked to. the same problem seems to me there must be a problem the dealer said it's only guarnteed 12 months or 12 thousand miles don't seem right to me. dt  view

The rotors have continuely warp at about every 12000 miles. i have had them turned 4 times and installed new rotors at about 38000 miles. they are agained warped at 60,000 miles and need to be turned again. vechile vibrates at 30 to 40 mph when brakes are applied. when rotors are turned the problem goes away for a while. dt  view

Firestone affiniti, original tires on a saturn sl2, p185/65r15 t m/s dot 02 7475. took vehicle in for a nail puncture. mechanic noticed tread seperating on the tire and refuse to correct the tire. please provide any further informaiton. ts  view

I purchased this ford escape in march 2001 and have had nothing but problems with it since. on march 26 2001, two days after i received my new vehicle, it wouldn't start. the same problem occurred three more times in a period of two weeks before i brought the vehicle back to the dealer on april 9 2001. the dealership replaced the battery which was obviously defective. since then i have had numerous other problems with my ford escape. i reported that the throttle was sticking (5/17/02) and it was replaced, but it continues to happen. i also reported that there was a vibration and hesitation when shifting gears around 45 mph (5/17/02). nothing was done at that time to remedy the problem. i later (8/29/02) reported the same problem to the dealer, brought the vehicle back for service on 9/27/02 at which time the torque converter was replaced. there is still a hesitation and loss of power as i drive the vehicle. also on 5/11/02, the "service engine soon" light came on. the fuel emissions valve was replaced on 5/17/02. on 10/28/02, i reported to the dealer that my vehicle almost stalled at an intersection on 10/26/02 and later that day it would not start. i also told the service representative that there continued to be a "loss of power" as i drive the vehicle at highway speeds. i brought the escape back to the dealer on 10/30/02 and the technician found "nothing wrong" with the vehicle from the tests he performed. i am not satisfied with these results there is something obviously wrong with this vehicle! dt  view

The owner is having problems with hesitation with possible cause being the automatic transmission. the owner did keep the car serviced/maintenance with the last item being a tune-up. liberty honda has been performing any and all maintenance on the vehicle. the vehicle is not being driven due to the transmissions' performance. mr consumer felt dealership used dirty transmission fluid which may have ruined the transmission and caused hesitation and wanted to charge consumer $4000 to replace transmission. however, dealership claimed that the 2 accidents vehicle was involved in caused the hesitation. vehicle's transmission was replaced at another dealership at a lower cost to consumer.  view
