CHEVROLET NOVA User Comment / Complaint

I was pulling out of a driveway and had great difficulty trying to turn the steering wheel of the car. this continued as i made 3 more turns. it finally went back to normal after driving 5 miles. the next day it resumed being very difficult to steer. i have now been informed by my personal mechanic of 30 years that the rack and pinion needs to be replaced. the vehicle only has 24,000 miles on it. this is a very dangerous defect and also quite expensive. almost $900.00.  view

Smoke and burning smell came from steering column. this was the second occurrence of this condition in last three years.  view

Right sliding door has had multiple failures over a four year period. right sliding door latch failed, the door would not remain open causing a safety hazard for passengers attempting to get in or out. cable for door failed, resulting in door being unable to be opened at all from inside or outside. inside door push button would not work intermitently, door could not be opened. exterior door handle would not work intermittently, unable to open door. interior door lock assembly would migrate into door handle, unable to unlock door except with button on drivers door. exterior door handle broke into two pieces. all problems have been corrected so far, although some were out of warranty and were paid for out of pocket. am waiting for response from toyato motor corp regarding reimbursement for repairs to defective door.  view

The emergency brake does not catch. it has never worked properly. dealer says it needs a new foot pedal.  view

While driving and without warning vehicle will stall, then shutdown, and become inoperative. dealer has been notified, and has repaired problem on several occasions.  view

The vehicle started to vibrate while the consumer was driving at 65 mph due to right rear tire experiencing a blowout. two more tires had tread separation and liner cracks. all tires were replaced. (tire size p245/75r16). bf goodrich is not willing to help consumer due to not having the tire for their inspection, consumer states that pictures were taken by a bf goodrich dealer who destroyed the tire.  view

Right front window failed to go up or down and the left rear window popped while closing due to broken lifters. the left front window fell into the door. the window regulator failed twice.  view

The rear brake pads and rotor prematurely wore out due to defective parts.  view

The a/c malfunctioned due to a/c sensor failure.  view

The check engine light illuminated due to the oxygen sensor failing. the consumer received a recall notice after the oxygen sensor was replaced. while the consumer was driving the vehicle could not accelerate properly due to mass air flow sensor failure. the consumer was asking the dealer to replace, repurchase or repair the vehicle.  view
